Consider Grant Writing
In speaking with Kishore Kolluru about his search for a new recruiter position, I asked him my favorite question, "What Product or Service would you like to enhance and why?" Considering his search for a senior recruiting position, I hoped to discuss several ideas around recruiting pinch points.
For perspective, recruiting is a simple game of telephone operator. You receive a call and patch it to the next party. (I might be dating myself, but I liked watching Little House On the Prairie, where this was used.) In more modern terms, the recruiter matches a resume to open positions.
Unfortunately, he wasn't forth coming. Many aren't, due to the concern that their ideas will be used by other agencies. While I didn't expect to get into the nitty gritty details of a specific recruiting method, I hoped to fully explore an idea, even if it was one that is already implemented.
Which raises the question, "What do you do when the traditional job market doesn't work?" You have to consider becoming an entrepreneur in an incubator as a disruptor. So, there are 2 parts to becoming a disruptor:
1 .. you have to write a proposal
2 .. you have to shop it around
The Proposal
My question, is simple and quite complex, as it forces you to review your work, find those points that could be made easier, and write a proposal that describes these improvements and how it will affect both the companies bottom line as well as their clients. (For examples, see previous posts where I show innovative ideas.)
For example, if your proposal uses AI match candidates faster, then describe how this process works. Maybe it's about using existing market direction indicators to identify new and emerging products and preparing prospects for these career opportunities. Or, maybe it's as simple as asking every candidate on both sides of the isle, "What product or service would you like to enhance and why?"
Everyone has their pinch point. Something in the system is broken and if fixed would make their life better. As a recruiter, gathering this information from the managers helps you suggest candidates who thought about the same problem. They may not be a match, but they may be interested to talk about the problem in a round table format to see what ideas are feasible.
Shop the Proposal Around
Your proposal can be sent to many different organizations for funding: Investment Houses, Angel Investors, and Government Agencies at all levels - Local, County, State and Federal.
For example, the Employment Development Department (EDD) has a grant process (example in comments). Many companies provide grants. Another way to find interested parties is to attend conferences. Finally, do a general search on the target company for their grant submission process.
Grants Submissions
Your submission avoids the recruiting filter. Organizations reviewing grants have 4 choices: reject the proposal, fund your incubator idea, bring you on board, or buy out the idea.

Unskilled Labor Recruiters
Have you ever wondered if there was a better solution to unions? Not just siding with unions are needed / good or unions are evil and force corporations to keep bad workers. There are arguments on both side for and against unions. But, what I want to know is .. Is there a better solution than unions? ..
How about this idea .. Start a company or series of companies that solely focuses on hiring and placing baristas and bar tenders around a city. These companies would act like recruiting companies, and provide benefits that coffee shops and bars could not. In turn their employees all get group health care, sick days, have a larger pool to pull from when replacements are needed, and so forth.
This company isn't a union, but to have enough pull as both a lobbying firm and a bargaining firm, they would need to hold a percentage of the work force in reserve to influence the market place.

Career Path
It would be easier to understand what career growth means, if it were defined or an example were used.
From what i understand, a career path starts w an education into a specific skill or position to be attained after say college or a vocational school. Since most of my followers are programmers ill use the concept of a car repair man. (who didn't play with match box cars as a kid?)
So, a kid goes to K12 school and takes shop classes for 4 years in high school, then a few more yrs in a vocational school. They learn how to repair cars. All kinds of cars, and every part there is. They have learned to tear down a motor and put it back together.
If you watched Ferrari vs Ford, this should look somewhat familiar. Now, you,ve become so good at repairing cars you decide to build a car. The obvious choice is to go back to school and study the processes involved in making a car. How engines, transmissions, bodys, seats, steering, AC, safety systems, ... Are all built, installed and maintained.
You intern at a plant, where you work the floor assembling a car from beginning to end. Then they move you to designing a car, where you sit at a computer and 3D printer and design all the parts from scratch and assemble your dream car. (Correction, someone elses dream car, and you only get to design a piece of the whole. You can design your own car at home.)
After designing cars for a while, you decide to become the director of a department that designs motors. Under you you have 10 to 20 people who design all types of motors .. car, truck, lawn mower, semi, air plane, ... if it's a motor you design it.
The next step in your career is to become the VP of of manufacturing a whole car, not just a part. This requires you to work with 100's of people from the plant floor, the design teams for the car, fabricators who will build the new lines, supplies for parts, pre assembly, 3rd party manufactures, banks and more.
And, finally, after achieving all this in the span of 50 years, you decide to start your own car manufacturing plant to disrupt the automotive industry. Let's call the new company (D). As a VP you learned all there was to learn about building cars and where to get all the bells, whistles and do dads needed. You even learned how to manage the expenses and build out a delivery and distribution system.
And, now that you're 70 years into your own line of cars, with a 400$ stock valuation, and you still own 30% of the several billion shares of stock, you decide that it's time to hand the entire company over to an apprentice.
