the thing. about Anjimile's soothing mellifluous voice. is that he somehow manages to convince me that Ale is a level-headed young man with a reasonable amount of chill, even though i am FULLY AWARE that Ale is an absolute madlad who wants to throw down SO BAD and wants to throw down even harder with literally anyone just standing there when he cannot throw down with That Guy Specifically
ok so TMA's themes were all about how we cope with fear and whether we allow it to change us or if we fight against it ect, using avatars like Jane to personify accepting and giving into fear to cope with it and Jon to personify someone who is almost just trying to make it go away without changing.
I am actually very excited to see how TMAGP goes now because it seems like some of the themes have been carried over from TMA but we have been given a new one: Vices/toxic attributes. 2 cases so far have been about incredibly unhealthy gambling problems, small adjustments was talking about the never ending urge to make yourself "perfect", Bonzos whole thing is the creation outgrowing the creator and consuming their entire life, Taking notes talked about someone so determined to reach their goal that they forget about the harm it does to themselves and others.
its about horrible facts about people. things that they would try to hide, say arent a problem. But they are problems, and so far in the statements we have seen people so consumed by their toxic traits/the bad situations they find themselves in that they can never get out. I wonder how this will be extrapolated to the main cast.
tmagp 13 just proved even more how Jon coded Gwen is. Demanding answers from her sketchy evil boss who dgaf and gives her vague non answers and then just. Going back to her miserable office job
never over juno seeing nureyev for the first time in ages, absolutely gone breathless and aching with it. you know who he's describing, there's only one person who makes him sound like that. i want to jump into the ocean
..do you guys think that the reason there are benevolent forces in tmagp universe is because of Jon and Martin. Who were only able to survive the apocalypse through their devotion to each other. Who saved the world and sealed their fates with an act of love. They died with a stab and a kiss and I think there is something important in that. Did their desire to be good despite it all seep through and make this universe just a little bit better. The world is full of forces that are fueled by mostly horror and fear and misery but also there is a bit of good. Is that because of them?
i feel like we should revisit all previous statements with the question whether the power was malevolent or benevolent. like, some obviously want harm. but even at the start some people pointed out that the statement givers weren't really afraid. the person going to see their loved one in the graveyard, tattoo girl, tree dude. maybe those were benevolent powers, trying to help them in their kinda twisted way
It took me a relisten to understand the themes of addiction that came with Jon’s reliance on statements and it made me feel all the worse for him and made me love him more when I realized it
So sorry to the Slip Jackson community but uh. Considering how much they’ve emphasized and set ip Melee as Nureyev’s narrative mirror, Melee being forced to kill the revivified version of her father is uhh… not a good sign 😬
