This is my final 6 look line up for the brief "When Two Worlds Collide". I've really enjoyed working on this the past few weeks and am so happy with how the finished designs turned out. I learnt a lot throughout this project and being at home for most of it I really had to have confidence in my own abilities and decison making and I think this will really stand to me starting out next year

For my final look I have a jumpsuit inspired by Amelia Earhart's flying suits. I decided to put a Peter pan collar on it to reference the 1950's, because nearly everything in the 50's was patterned as well I came up with a print based on the Googles worn by Amelia.

For this look I went quite simple and really focused on the shapes. I got the shape of this dress by taking the shoulder detail of Amelia's jacket and overlapping them. Paired with the 1950's hat and gloves and chunky combat boots I think this look is cool yet elegant and I really love it

For this look I went with wide legged pants that have a split insert detail on the outside of either leg. I got this insert detail from the shape of a 1950's mermaid dress and I thought it was really interesting to use it in this way. The insert would be made in a lighter near transparent material and the pants have a navy and bright yellow gingham pattern to them. I paired this with a simple tranch coat with airplane buttons again. I think this is a really cool and fun look and I'm happy with the way it turned out.

For this look I was inspired by the leather tranch coat that Amelia Earhart often wore. I decided to simple change the shape of this to make it more similar to a 1950's circle skirt. I really love the way this look turned out because I think it was a very simplistic way to bring together my two worlds. This look would be made in a leather type with airplane button detailing.

This is a leather circle dress. I used the shape of the 1950s circle dress for both the sleeves and the skirt and I really love the shape I ended up with. I then added gold zipper detailing and shoulder details as homage to Amelia Earhart. I once again decides to style with a 1950s hat and combat boots because I love the feel that the two combined give. I've tried to experiment with croquis in different poses to try and add to the overall feel of the line up but also to challenge my drawing skills as it forces you to think about how the dress with react and look of they move

I've started working on my 360 view of my line up. This look consists of a jumpsuit with a cut out front and oversized ruched sleeves. I've stayed it with navy combat boots and a 1950's pillbox hat however what I've discovered is that the navy mix of paint is quite dark and therefore detailing on the shoes and shading on the pants is near impossible to see so going forward I'll definitely be looking for an alternative to the paint. This look comes from a tracing that I did of Amelia's jacket and I decided to go with a bright gingham to tie in the 1950s.

I've spent some time today trying to think about how I might style my final line up. I've really tried to pull aspects from both the 1950's and Amelia Earhart here so that I can truly tie the two together in my final illustrations.

Today I've started looking at some of the smaller details of my designs such as zippers and buttons. I've decided to make these exposed and prominent in reference to how the joints and bolts on Amelia's planes were obvious.

A quick look at how my line up has changed just over the course of half a day, I ended up toning down some of the bright colours and patterns and used Amelia Earhart more for inspiration for colours . By the end of the day I'm sure it's going to look very different again as I know want to go back in and try and add some more colour and then move on to looking at finer details such as zips and buttons.

I personally love the shapes in this look especially the sleeves, however because there's lots of different pieces to this look I've struggled to find a suitable colouring that works for all aspects of the look as I don't want to have too much pattern going on and end up detracting from the original shapes

I'm just going ahead at the moment and trying to get together a few different options colour wise for my favourite looks. These is leaving me with a lot of decisions to make because although I may love a certain colour or pattern on an item sometimes it just works out that they are not working well with the other items in the line up, so I'm really trying to work on getting out as many options as possible and then focus on which patterns and colours work best for the line up as a whole.

Working through some ideas for a pattern made up from Amelia Earhart's goggles. I'm looking to use this pattern for the sleeves of a jumpsuit in my line up

I spent the morning trying to narrow done my colour scheme and get ideas for pattern down as well. I'm hoping that by having these in front of me it'll ensure that I keep a sense of coherency to my line up. At the moment my idea is to have a lot of neutrals in strong materials such a leather with then pops of colour and pattern to draw back in the 1950s

Currently trying to get a colour scheme together. I'm trying to add an element of strength to my collection through darker colours with possibly just a pop of 1950's colour scheme or pattern

These are some examples of the drawings I did today. I really wanted to focus on my drawing skills and how to represent different fabrics and different folds. I took some examples from the Internet and drew those but I also arranged several items of my clothing in front of me and drew them in different materials to try and find which style suited me best. I'm really trying to understand materials better so that when I'm designing I'll have a greater idea of how materials will react and how it may be possible to create the shapes that I want.
