Donald Trump left a positive review on Amazon for South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem's new book to be released next month, wherein Noem describes shooting her own family puppy in a gravel pit on her ranch. In her book, No Going Back, Noem describes her dog Cricket, a 14-month-old Wirehair Pointer, as "untrainable," and "less than worthless as a hunting dog," and said she "hated that dog."
After murdering her puppy, Noem describes how she then immediately proceeded to also kill her family's goat, because she had "another unpleasant job that needed to be done." Noem said the goat smelled "disgusting, musky, rancid," and would chase her children around all day because it hadn't been castrated. Rather than just washing the animal and getting it fixed, Noem literally dragged the goat to the same pit wherein she had just ended Cricket, and proceeded to shoot the goat as well.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) let loose a scathing statement this week in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s accusation that protests at United States universities against Israel’s bombing campaign in Gaza are “antisemitic.”
“Mr. Netanyahu, antisemitism is a vile and disgusting form of bigotry that has done unspeakable harm to many millions of people,′ Sanders said in a video posted to X on Thursday.

I'm always kind of wary of narratives of autistic interaction that are like "well, autistic people just aren't interested in relationships, they don't like meaningless social interactions"
Because I think there is a mix of trauma, alexithymia, and false narratives being pushed by literally everyone else that leads to this being the narrative that even autistic people tell when it might not actually be the whole story
Because, like, my mum remembers me being excluded from play by other kids before I have my first memories
We know that allistic kids can tell something is "off" about an autistic kid in seconds and not want to play with them
And we know that some of the methods used by neurotypical kids to bully neurodivergent kids is winding them up - deliberately setting off sensory issues or using frustration triggers that they've identified - and that leads to autistic kids being told "that's not bullying, that's you over reacting"
And this treatment begins very young
So now you've got an autistic kid who's, say, nine or ten, and they don't play with their peers - they sit with a book or on their Nintendo or whatever
And when people (parents/clinitions/etc) ask them "why don't you want to play with the other kids?", you get the combo of knowing that "other kids bully me" isn't believed and alexithymia meaning that they know that the idea of playing with other kids feels Bad but they can't quite put their finger on Why
And when they try to rationally look for an answer, the first one that's likely to come up it's all of the technical aspects of playing with other kids, like not liking small talk because it's "pointless", that come up instead of the trauma
And yeah, I'm wary of perpetuating this narrative as autistic adults that "autistic kids just don't like that kind of play and autistic people prefer to be alone, actually" because it just kind of reeks of the "the other kids only pick on you because you're smart" narrative that absolutely did nothing to help me deal with the trauma of being bullied or lead to healthy relationships in my adult life

Since the OP made their post unrebloggable (and blocked me. Both actions they are well in with their right to do)
I'm going to make my response it's own post because I think the point is important
-
As someone who is autistic and has BPD and CPTSD and loads of trauma yes you sometimes need to change how you interact with others to keep people around
When I was 13 I hit the few friends I had when I was angry
I had to change that in order to keep those friendships
When I was in my early 20s if I was losing an disagreement with my husband I would threaten to kill myself. My husband told me it hurt him and was cruel and manipulative behaviour, because it was.
So I worked hard to change that to keep my relationship
It's easy to say "I shouldn't have to change for others" and that's true to an extent. You shouldn't change your interests or passions or dim your light. And you should have space to be imperfect and flawed and not have to pretend your ugly bits aren't real. But if something you are doing it causing other people harm you kinda need to change that.
That's called "living in a society"
People adapt to each other and make space for each other in their lives. You adapt to them and they adapt to you
You start being more diligent about throwing away the empty toilet roll because it really bothers them. They start warning you before they run the blender because you hate loud noises
I stopped threatening to kill myself because I was mad I was losing an argument and my husband stopped being so vocally judgemental amount media he personally dislikes
There is a certain type of person who heard the phrase "your emotions are valid" and took that to mean "my emotional reactions and my behaviour are always objectively correct because my emotions are valid and if you have an emotional response or react to what I'm doing negatively then you are wrong and you can't be hurt because my emotions are valid"
And that's a recipe for disaster
Your emotions are valid to feel. They are how you feel and there are reasons you feel the way you do
However, your reactions and behaviour are something you can learn to control and can be irrational
We live in a society and we as people change each other as we interact and that isn't necessarily a bad thing

Is praising Hitler not a political red flag anymore? Asking for America.
“If you don't control education, you cannot control the future. And Stalin knew that, Mao knew that, Hitler knew that. We have to get that back for conservative values."
