Hey i鈥檓 a fashion design student so i have tons and tons of pdfs and docs with basic sewing techniques, pattern how-tos, and resources for fabric and trims. I鈥檝e compiled it all into a shareable folder for anyone who wants to look into sewing and making their own clothing. I鈥檒l be adding to this folder whenever i come across new resources

To anyone in Ohio today, the special election for Issue 1 is today! Don't forget to go out and vote!
I tried to find the actual issue but its a pdf and im on mobile and its proving to ve difficult. Googling "Ohio Issue 1" works just fine, you can add 2023 if you really want to.
I read the guide above and it seems pretty good but always remember to do ur own research and come to your own conclusions.

Here, a cheater course on caring for natural fibers!
1. Wool. Treat it like it has the delicate constitution of a Victorian lady and the conviction that baths are evil of a 17th century noble. (If I get in WATER my PORES will OPEN and I will CATCH ILL AND DIE.)
2. Cotton; easygoing. Will shrink a bit if washed and dried hot.
3. Silk; people think it鈥檚 like wool and has the constitution of a fashionably dying of consumption Victorian lady, but actually it鈥檚 quite tough. Can be washed in an ordinary washer, and either tumbled dry without heat or hung to dry.
4. Linen; it doesn鈥檛 give a shit. Beat the hell out of it. Historically was laundered by dousing it in lye and beating the shit out of it with wooden paddles, which only makes it look better. The masochist of the natural fiber world. Beat the fuck out of it linen doesn鈥檛 care. Considerably stronger than cotton. Linen sheet sets can last literal decades in more or less pristine shape because of that strength. The most likely natural fiber to own a ball gag.

I read somewhere that embroidered clothes need to be washed differently. Is this true? I read that right after getting a bunch of embroidery floss to visibly mend some clothes
Washing embroidered clothes
Yup! Check out my post on securing embroidery thread, which includes laundry instructions. My embroidery tag's also a good resource.
Handmade embroidery tends to be fragile, so it's important to properly secure your thread and take good care of the embroidered item. If you don't, you risk for your threads to come loose.
If you're not careful when washing embroidered items, your embroidery threads could get snagged on things like buttons or zippers in the washer.
Try to either wash them by hand (safest), or use your machine's delicate cycle combined with a laundry bag. Always let the item air-dry.

Started working on my quiver. meant to upload process pics but forgot to take pics till now.
I used 6mm foam for the shape. the initial design i had tapered at the end and i didnt like it, so i simplified it some by cutting off the angle, remeasuring and reattaching the new piece with contact cement and reinforcing with scraps.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i used an awl to poke holes for some leather cording to go through. and the fabric is faux suade. it was $9 cheaper than real, but the real felt so much better.
as time goes on ill improve on these pieces XD
