A ribbon of blood snaked off the stage, curling over the lip to drip into the orchestra pit. Isabel thought it looked remarkably like tonight's silk, imagined wrapping it around her hands, wrists, feet to hoist herself upwards.

If only it wasn't on the ground, oozing free of her own skull.

Isabel tore her gaze free from where it had drifted back to her own face - permanently contorted in shock and terror and back to the blood leaving the stage. She wanted to imagine that a drop had fallen on her beloved cellist, chose to think of it as a poetic last kiss from a lover. She'd never learned the organization of the pit and so had no clue how plausible her thought was.

Finally, she looked at the woman standing before her - the only person who'd seen her standing here, who looked at her and not just her broken corpse. Yes, that did sound like an apt metaphor for how it felt to accept her own death.

Not that she had accepted it, face slowly contorting in anger. "That bastard fucking dropped me on purpose!"
