A curse for those who have abused you
Things needed:
a poppet to represent the abuser
A jar
Enough lemon juice to fill that jar
A needle
A string tied to a weight (like a rock)
Take the poppet and stab it with the needle where ever you want them to hurt. If you want, stab the poppet where the abuser hurt you.
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. A punch for a punch, a curse for your words
Then tie the weight to the poppet.
You are weighed down for the sins you have committed against me. You cannot break free.
Throw the poppet into the jar of lemon juice.
You drown in the consequences of what you have done. Acid seeps into your every bone and eats away at you. There is no way out you have no escape. You are sealed to your toxic fate.
Close and seal the jar.
I don’t really like super long curses that take up a lot of materials and I recently ran into some shit, so…heh.

How to use Stop Gossip Oil in a Spell or Ritual:
There are many ways to use the oil, but here at Art of the Root we favor these two techniques. The first way you can use Stop Gossip Oil is by getting a hold of a black or a white candle. Carve the names of the people who are gossiping about you into the candle with a toothpick or needle. Then you are going to carve your name directly on top of theirs. Anoint the candle starting at the middle of the candle, pushing downward towards the candle’s base. You can reinforce your intentions by writing out a petition. Get a small piece of paper from a brown paper bag and write the name of those who are gossiping about you. Write your name directly over theirs. Then, write down your intention. Anoint a little oil on your petition in the sign of a cross. Light the candle and recite Psalm 34. After the candle has burned, take all the remains and leave them at a crossroads.
Another technique that many people choose to use is a relatively simple technique. However, it is quite effective. This technique involves making a honey jar. Again, on a piece of brown paper bag write down the names of those who are causing you harm. Write your name on top of theirs and then write out your intention. Place your petition in a jar with either honey or maple syrup. You may also add a bit of brown sugar if you so choose. Once this is complete, pour a bit of the Stop Gossip Oil into the jar. Once you have done all of this, the next step is to cover the jar with a metal lid, and then take a small white candle, place it on top of the jar, and light it. We also recommend using glass-encased votive candles or tea lights. You can continue to light candles on top of the honey jar as long as you need to.

i tried working with/worshipping apollo but i got sick (covid, so i was stuck resting for a few days) and wasn’t able to, then felt so stressed when i was able to i just apologized to him and stopped working with any gods at all. any ideas to get over the anxiety i feel when thinking about working with gods?
Start small? I have no idea, I'm not really connected to Apollo. I recommend knowing your own limits and boundaries and figure out how to build your practice from there. Whether it's doing research on the deity, building a small altar or shrine, or small weekly offerings, a little can go a long way. I'm sure the gods will understand - they've always had worshipers who are neurodivergent, mentally ill, anxious, disabled, and so forth.
I'm gonna toss this to the dashboard and see if any of my followers who worship or work with Apollo have anything to add. Make sure you read the reblogs and comments, anon!

The Magickal Uses of Asafoetida
Gender: Masculine Planet: Mars, Pluto Element: Fire Associated Deities: Cernunnos, Pan, Priapus
LORE: The Master Book of Herbalism reported that some hold the belief that asafoetida came into being when the god’s semen came down from the heavens to meet the earth.  Planted within the fertile soil, the asafoetida plant sprung forth.
Traditions: According to Beyerl, there is an affinity between asafoetida and black diamond, and they should be stored together. Asafetida contains a large amount of sulfur, giving its distinctive odor. The two are virtually interchangeable for magical purposes.
Magic: Asafetida has been used as incense for exorcisms and protection nearly as long as sulfur. It destroys manifestation of spirit if thrown into fire during magical rites (if a spell is going wrong), and it may also be burned to make someone leave you alone. The herb may be added to self-purification rituals against negative habits. The power of any ritual (with the exception of spirit conjurings) may be increased with the addition of asafetida.  Asafoetida is a countermagick herb, an herb of protection, purification, and a visionary herb. . It is used as an incense for rituals of a somber, ceremonial nature. It is also used to banish negativity, evil spirits, and demons. (It is associated with the Devil Card of the Major Arcana in Tarot) Used in meditations, it helps one discover how the mundane attractions in our lives have placed us in spiritual bondage. Use it for rituals of self-purification or cleansing to break free of negative desires. Asafoetida is an excellant herb for any student who has been accepted for training leading to initiation.
Also known as Devil’s Dung in Voodoo, It is an old preventive against sickness in European; in India, it is said to stimulate the brain; in hoodoo it repels evil, keeps off the law, and harms enemies. To stop someone from bothering you, burn it on charcoal and make your command in the name of the Devil. To reverse a trick, put DEVIL’S DUNG, Vandal Root, Black Hen Feathers, Black Arts Powder, and a hair of the witch in a bottle. Urinate into the bottle while cursing the witch, cap and seal it with wax from a black candle, and bury it where the witch will walk over it. After working with DEVIL’S DUNG, wash your hands with Florida Water or Hoyt’s Cologne so folks won’t know what you’ve been up to.
Magically, both Asafoetida, as well as the closely related Galbanum are used as banishing herbs. It can exorcise those panic inducing free floating phantoms of fear. The pungent smell is said to dispel demons and is sometimes burnt as incense for protection, or worn as an amulet to avert the evil eye. It also helps focussing and concentrating the mind, helping those who are overly sensitive and ungrounded to find their inner balance.  This herb would be an excellent choice for those seeking entry into the mysteries of the horned god.  It is recommended for those who place Priapus upon their altars, for those who invoke the gods, particularly in their aspect as phallic, fertility deities.
Mars spells: Asafoetida (as an herb) may be used in as an ingredient or substitute for magick spells and formulas related to Mars matters (aggression, courage, defensive magick, exorcism, healing after surgery, hex-breaking, lust, physical strength, politics, protection, sexual energy, sexual potency, and strength).
Known Combinations: Used as an amulet, it will keep away colds and fever and evil. For this purpose, a small piece may be worn at neck and a clove of garlic can be added for extra protection. To protect your home from evil spirits, make a cloth bag containing Asafetida, Valerian, Pepper, and Garlic. Sew it shut and nail it to your front porch ceiling or just above the entry to a room. Inside the entrance, place large mirror. This will cause demons to flee in terror. In a small red bag, put some Asafetida and a lump of Sulfur. Anoint the bag with Camphor, and wear it around your neck. This will keep away vampires, werewolves, and the evil eye (along with all your friends).
The dried resin of the stem and roots of a 12-foot-high type of fennel, Ferula asafoetida, makes a strong-smelling scent ruled by Saturn. It is used in rituals of self-purification and to break spiritual shackles, which fits well with its ruler, since Saturn teaches us our limitations and boundaries. This is a safe substitute for dangerous Saturn herbs like henbane. This resin is sometimes connected to Mars because it is somewhat warming. It’s a classic ingredient in grimoire recipes for banishing incense.

🌟To make a travel altar🌟
Here I’ll show you my personal travel altar and give you some ideas for making yours!
Tumblr media
🌟 Travel Altars 🌟
Some witches like to have a little box, bag or tin where they can carry some items like candles, miniatures, coins, etc, and use them in rituals or prayers! This way, you can take a little bit of magic with you everywhere!
You can also use the little tin to put images of your gods/goddesses or a little portable shrine!
This is what mine looks like:
Tumblr media
🌟 Items 🌟
Some ideas for a portable altar are:
~ Little candles, tea light candles or birthday ones work perfectly!
~ A mini box of matches or a lighter. You can cut the working part of the box of matches and stick it to your tin if the full box doesn’t fit, and just take with you 4 or 5 matches and replace them periodically.
~ Salt on a tiny bottle or a little sachet! McDonald’s ones work just fine.
~ Other spices or herbs of your choice, maybe rosemary or lavender or others that fit your needs.
~ I’ve seen many make tiny tarot decks, and personally i’ve made a runes set! it fits on a tiny glass bottle.
~ Little bottles or containers with water, it may be sea water, rain water, etc! for some ideas you can check my Water Correspondences post!
~ Some crystal chips, these can be from one that broke recently or some you bought. Clear quartz is always a good idea, but you can take as many as you want! When you’re making your portable altar, think on where you’re going, and what crystals or herbs you may need there, that can help♥
~ I’ve also seen many people with tiny altar cloths, small figurines or even altar tools! like chalices, pentagrams (like the one in the image above), athames, wands and many more! You can make these yourself with some cloth and polymer clay or ceramic! (ceramic will be better for water containers, and polymer clay is perfect for offering dishes)
~ Other items related to your craft. Sea witches can take seashells, mirrors, dolphin figurines, etc. Kitchen witches can make a little recipes book to take with them and cooking ingredients. Crystal witches can have a travel altar only made for carrying gemstones. Dragon witches can take with them dragon figurines, dragon trading cards, candles and coins as a treasure. Possibilities are endless!
~ All these items should fit perfectly on an altoids tin, a little cloth bag, a mini backpack, or a wooden box! Choose whatever makes you feel comfortable!
~ You can personalize your travel altar as much as you want: if it’s a bag, embroidery! if it’s a tin, polymer clay is useful for adding details! or hot glue for gems, seashells, rocks. You can also use dried flowers or leaves.
🌟 Hope this was useful and inspiring for you all!🌟
Remember that my ask box is always open for questions. If you need advice or help making these or just want some ideas for your personal altar, i’d love to help!
~ With Love, Nao. ~

tip for those who struggle with building up their grimoire:
I'm rebuilding/reworking my own grimoire atm and, in poking around for inspiration here and there, I've seen a bit of a trend regarding indexes and tables of contents.
A lot of posts for Beginner Witches have looong lists of things you Absolutely Must(TM) include in your grimoire. These read almost like a super extensive syllabus that covers what seems like every topic under the sun, and are, quite frankly, completely unnecessary.
This is a friendly reminder that you don't have to include anything in your grimoire that you don't want to.
Not interested in astrology? No problem. Don't include it.
Don't work with herbs or crystals? Why spend time writing notes on them, then?
Don't celebrate Wiccan holidays? No need to include info on the Wheel of the Year.
etc etc.
Part of the reason why I never finished my last couple grimoires were the fact that I felt pressured to write extensive entries on things I wasn't interested in, or on things I already knew and thought redundant to include. I had dozens upon dozens of unfinished pages, and the knowledge that I was expected to write things on each of them filled me with such anxiety and dread that I just... stopped opening my notebook up altogether.
This time around, however, I'm taking a different approach to my grimoire. I have limited time and energy to commit to my craft, and I'd rather not spend it on shit I didn't really care about. In my new grimoire, I have not and never intend to include notes on the 'basics', or overviews of every pantheon and every deity, or summaries of the different types of witches or spells or what have you. I'm including only what I think is important to me.
Your grimoire is supposed to be your personal journal, documenting not only the things you've learned but the things you're actually interested in. That doesn't mean you shouldn't do research -- it's very important to expand your education, especially regarding different worldviews and outlooks to your own. But!!
Don't feel like you've got to write an encyclopaedia, or produce a textbook for future generations to consult, because that isn't the point.

PROTECTION SPELL.
Write out psalm 91 by hand on a brown piece of paper today.
Once you have written it read it aloud.
Burn the paper in the flame of a white candle make sure you burn the paper completely so that no letters are seen.
Collect the ashes once they have cooled down.
Then go to a crossroads and release them to the wind as you call your name 3 times.
This will protect you from evil always.
