the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.

Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg (Berlin district) closed two women's centers and fired their employees
It is a short press release that announces the closure of two youth clubs in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. The district office announced: "The two youth facilities 'Phantalisa-Raum für Mädchen* und junge Frauen in Friedrichshain' and 'Alia-Zentrum für Mädchen und junge Frauen' in Kreuzberg will be closed by the youth welfare office." The contracts with the provider have been terminated. Efforts are being made to find alternative and timely services, the district office added. With this the only two queer-feminist projects in the district that specifically target migrant girls and young women are to close.
The association that runs the facilities, Frieda-Frauen*zentrum e.V. (Frieda), has made the letter of termination public. The accusations are serious: the goals of the cooperation, including democracy education and the "reduction of inhuman attitudes in young people", could no longer be implemented. The educational work was to be stopped immediately. A prior warning letter was not necessary.
The decision is not based on the work done in the centers, but on the political attitudes of the employees. According to the letter, an article in the news magazine "Focus" published a picture showing employees of the association at a registered pro-Palestinian demonstration that was broken up by the police. The district therefore fears that the employees were seeking a "targeted confrontation with the police forces as representatives of the state".
Furthermore, an employee posted "various pro-Palestine statements" on her private Instagram profile. These are not specified in the letter, nor are other "anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli statements".

It's incredible how people have been protesting pants and skirts not having pockets but not a single peep is heard over the fact that skirts no longer have underskirts by default. Underskirts (or lining) was a thing when I was a child, no skirt would be made without lining, you didn't have to think and check if your whole ass is visible in a skirt because lining was a thing!!!! Now most skirts don't and it's simply because it's cheaper, fuck the fact that a customer doesn't want their panties shown in broad daylight, it saves a couple of cents on material.

Most people really don't seem to know what this mysterious "residential care" means when it comes to disabilities.
"This person is severely disabled, they have to live in residential care."
Do you know what happens when a severely disabled person with high support needs who isn't aware of dangers and needs constant supervision applies for residential care?
They get turned down or kicked out a couple of days later.
This happens regularly, btw. Kids grow up and parents think "Oh, residential care sounds good", and then suddenly every institution, etc. goes "Sorry, we don't specialise in that, sorry, your child is too aggressive, sorry, your child can't stick to our sleep schedule, sorry, your child is too noise sensitive, sorry, your child HAS to participate in our weekly activities even though their disability makes it impossible for them to do so, sorry..."
People who can live in residential care aren't your "the worst of the worst" example. There is such a thing as "too disabled for residential care" and it's more common than you'd think! ☝🏼
"But what happens when someone is too disabled for residential care and their family can't take care of them? Surely everyone eventually ends up somewhere!"
They get passed around from institution to institution, but everyone eventually goes "Sorry, we can't keep them here", and it won't stop. Until, maybe, one day they're lucky and a fixed team of carers "adopts" them and tries to create some kind of assisted living from scratch.
(Edit: Some people in the notes mention that many end up in prison or psych wards. That's included in what I mean with "institution" ☝🏼. But keep in mind that most severely disabled people with very high support needs simply die when their needs aren't met, so they either are passed around from institution to institution until someone builds something from scratch... or they simply die.)
Nobody talks about it, which is why it's always a big shock for parents who found a really good residential care place for their soon-to-be adult child and their child looks forward to moving out, and suddenly this wonderful residential care company turns their child down because it's too disabled. And then the next one. And the next.
So no, residential care isn't for "those with the most profound disabilities" - people with the most profound disabilities can't be in residential care at all.

american youtuber's distaste for bare feet is so strange to me, they act like feet are this primarily sexual things when they're just body parts?? exposing them is not immediately a fetish thing?? and really it's very much a parallel to how women's breasts are sexualised... just that i'm used to breasts being overly sexualised and feet being so overly sexualised is a foreign concept to me

So I’ve been teaching 6th grade since January, and one thing about my female students which made me upset to realize is how many of them are obsessed with skincare. I've heard the girls in my class discussing the EYE CREAM they use. Like tf you mean eye cream? You're ELEVEN!!! I'm a decade older than you and have never even touched eye cream!! The most skincare a middle schooler needs is cleanser and moisturizer, maybe some acne cream. Who tf is selling you all this other stuff? Who tf told you you needed all this?
It hurts me to see. Their brains are too young for these types of insecurities 😭 no 11 year old girl should be obsessed with wrinkles, I wanna beat tf out of whatever tiktoker made them believe they needed skin that perfect

“I am drawn to particular people - regardless of gender. It doesn’t make me wishy-washy, confused, untrustworthy or more sexually liberated. It makes me bisexual.”
Bisexual activist Lani Ka’ahumanu in “The Bisexual Revolution”, OutWeek #84, 1991 (via verilybitchie)
Apparently Ka’ahumanu used “regardless of gender” regularly over the years. It appeared earlier than the above in a 1987 essay.”The Bisexual Community: Are We Visible Yet?”, where she said “I am bisexual because I am drawn to particular people regardless of gender.“
So to be clear, the definition of bisexual as “regardless of gender” is at least 33 years old, with recurring use by a major bi activist in the SF bi and lesbian scenes.
