WRITEBLR INTRO !!

My name is Amelie Mae (usually Ams or Mae whatever you decide) i use she/her pronouns and i’m 16. Im a queer writer from the UK!

I’ve been writing ever since I was little and got entered in a few comps when I was in primary school!

I’ve only ever written and drafted one novel, but never published it because I wrote it at 14 and thought I was too young.

Genres I write: Romance, Mystery, Murder Mystery, Historical.

I’m currently in the stage of writing my debut book which is historical sapphic! And I have a whole series possibly planned.

WIP intro: saints and pearls

genre: litfic, coming of age

pov: 1st person retrospective

setting: very very small valley town in southern bc. (i hear you. ur saying “but you’ve never been to canada !!!” no. you’re right. but i feel its Vibes within me). it’s an isolated, fundamentalist christian sect founded by a prophet in the 60s who claimed to be the living word of god, succeeded by his son. the year is between 2013-16, i sense.

themes/aesthetics: god, divinity & power, devotion & worship, girlhood & motherhood, innocence, sin & corruption, desire & temptation, resurrection & rebirth, truth, lies & false prophecy. identical grey houses, the sun setting through a wire fence, girls in white dresses cycling down an empty road, mountains in the distance dusted with snow, a town with no traffic lights, screaming and hearing no echo back.

cws: christian fundamentalism, cult, deeply patriarchal society, death, implied murder, disappearance / missing person, children in implied danger.

logline: when her mother vanishes, fifteen-year-old opal returns to live with her father in the isolated religious sect she grew up in. as she tries to find the truth about her mother’s disappearance, she becomes entangled in a sinister love affair with her father’s young new wife & the struggle to succeed the sect’s ageing prophet.

When her mother disappears, fifteen-year-old Opal chooses to return to the isolated sect she and her mother fled two years prior. But when she returns to Virtue, things have changed. Her father, Franklin, has remarried to a young new convert: the alluring, saintly Neeve, whom Opal is irresistibly drawn to. What’s more, the mounting health problems of the sect’s ageing prophet are set to kickstart the race to replace him in earnest at any moment.

The family are intent on ensuring Franklin’s accession as the next prophet, and Opal suspects they know more about her mother’s disappearance than they’re telling her. There’s a simple solution: gain Neeve’s trust and use her to find out what the family are hiding—yet Neeve’s magnetic zealotry only pulls Opal in closer, and their intoxicating relationship threatens to derail Opal’s quest to expose the truth.

Meanwhile, Opal’s rebellious flirtation with Warren, Neeve’s cunning older brother and Franklin’s main rival for the prophethood, opens the door to escape from her family’s control—and the opportunity for long-awaited revenge against the man and church who terrorised her childhood.

everyone is a means to an end for her, apart from her adopted sister, runa (aged six), her bestie. can’t hate a child.

she’s fighting demons (comphet) and losing

hi! My name is Kait, and I'm making my way back to writeblr after several years being away. A little about me; I'm twenty years old and currently pursuing a degree in English with a creative writing concentration (and minors in Italian and archeology), I love reading anything I can get my hands on, including any genre of book, an abundance of comics, and national geographic magazines, I am an avid pickle enthusiast, and I have far too much knowledge about star wars inside my little brain.

I mostly write litfic, though I have recently started getting into sci-fi as well! (I'm taking a science fiction/fantasy workship this autumn as well so surely that will grow into a larger interest in the upcoming months).

my current wip:

soft currents (this synopsis is quite the ramble-- I haven't tried to write one for this wip yet but I wanted you guys to have some info on it!

Surf City, New Jersey is the only home that sisters Annie and Jean Romano have ever known. Their father, Aldo, has been struggling to make ends meet on his meager salary as a boat repairman ever since the death of his wife two years ago, and he's on the losing end of a struggle to hold onto the house that has been in his family for generations.

Finally, Aldo throws in the towel and decides that he and his girls will move inland at the end of the summer, to the town where his brother lives. He will take a job in his brother's auto body shop, and his girls will get to be with family. He can put money from the house's sale towards his daughters' futures, try to leave them something more than a greasy toolbox when he goes.

Annie and Jean take the news of the imminent move in different ways; scrappy, sentimental Jean organizes a farewell tour for herself, and Annie, quiet by nature and having only retreated further into herself since the death of their mother, refuses it point blank.

As August draws to a hot, humid close, the move is not the only thing looming above the Romano family. A hurricane churns up the coast, and while those who can prepare to flee, Aldo and his daughters hunker down to protect the house, the prospective profits of which's sale being the only thing they have. All three will do anything to save the house, come hell or high water.

One child drew a delightful cat, another an intriguing genie popping out of a bottle with two faces (one male, one female). Seven-year-old Daniel handed me the paper blank side up. As I made to turn it over he stopped me and said, “No, that side. It’s air. God is air.” The content of the adult drawings varied massively. As well as a few human figures of mixed gender, many people drew natural landscapes, such as mountains, trees, and the ocean. Some created shapes such as hearts, or spirals, or a dot indicating infinity. One of my favourites was a picture of a dog with the words, “The only thing that could get through to me when I was suffering.”

hello there! you can call me jade (they/them), and welcome to my writeblr! i've been lurking on tumblr for the longest time and am only just now deciding to try posting my own stuff. i don't have a ton of writer friends so i thought this would be a good chance to find some!

much of my inspiration comes from fairy tales, studio ghibli films, old disney movies, music, nature, as well as the magical and mundane aspects of life. my favorite genre to write is fantasy and i've dabbled in many different flavors of it, from middle grade cozy fantasy to new adult darker fantasy. i also write poetry.

i currently have one wip that i'm focusing on, but i have many wips that i have stored away for later. it's under the temporary name project garden and it's a sapphic new adult-ish fantasy. right now, i'm preparing for july camp nanowrimo so i can hopefully get a big chunk of my first draft done. if anyone else is participating in camp, let me know and we can hold each other accountable for our goals! my nanowrimo username is meguca_.
