So good to reconnect with the mountains after almost 5 weeks of « nursing »! Il n’y a pas à dire, l’ascension du Mont Blanc reste quelque chose d’assez incroyable et de magique. C’est une course longue, haute (presque 5000m!), avec quelques passages exposés. On a beau banaliser le sommet le plus haut d’Europe, il n’en est rien. En fouler sa cîme est toujours un plaisir, que l’on y arrive par une belle voie prestigieuse de sa face Sud ou par l’une de ses voies normales. Avec @caro_arpin et Pierre-Jean, nous avons partagé un magnifique Mont Blanc. Une météo parfaite, d’excellentes conditions et relativement peu de monde sur cette montagne qui d’habitude est assez encombrée. Bravo pour l’effort, pour la volonté d’aller jusqu’en haut, pour avoir su rester lucides à la descente. Cette ascension, ces paysages, ces émotions, on n’est pas prêts de les oublier! . There's no need to say, the ascent of Mont Blanc remains something quite incredible and magical. It's a long day, high in altitude (almost 5000m!) with a few places where you have to be very focus. Although we trivialise the highest summit in Europe, it's not. Being on top of Mont Blanc is always a pleasure, whether you get there by a beautiful prestigious route on its south side or by one of its normal routes. With @caro_arpin and Pierre-Jean, we shared a magnificent Mont Blanc. Perfect weather, excellent conditions and relatively few people on this mountain that is usually quite crowded. Stoked Climbing is finally an Olympic sport! Back in the days, we were told that there was too many summer disciplines at the Olympics. The only chance, for our sport would had been to try to get it in the Winter Olympics…. Climbing being an Olympic sport was back in 2000 a very far dream for us. And then, Tokyo happened! With its amazing athletes, all its emotions, all its crazy moments. Really happy Climbing is now part of this huge and magical event, with a better recognition of the sport and its athletes. The format for those first Olympics was for sure far from ideal but it can now evolves toward something better for the athletes. Massive congratulations to the first ever gold medalists @janja_garnbret and @albertogines_ , but also to all the impressive climbers who got qualified at Tokyo. Getting there was already a huge performance by itself. The level and versatility of everyone is definitely impressive and the sport is for sure way more demanding and powerful than when we were competing 20 years ago. Thanks to everyone who made this event possible, thanks to all the climbers who gave all their best (and made my hand sweety again…) 10 days after I’m still thinking of all this. Là où j’aimerai être, versus, la situation du moment… Cela fait une bonne semaine maintenant que j’ai un genou douloureux, signe d’une inflammation. Probablement trop de descentes à pied et pas assez de parapente 😉 Cela va prendre un petit moment pour se remettre, heureusement rien de trop long. Les jours à venir seront donc dédiés à la rééducation, remusculation et surtout je vais avoir le temps de travailler sur ma posture et mon bassin qui me posent problème depuis un an. Et ça, c’est une très bonne chose. Merci à la petite équipe autour de moi qui m’aide à progresser… 🌞🌞🌞 . . . Where I wished to be versus where I am… A week ago my knee got painful and swollen, sign of inflammation. Too many down hills descent, not enough flying 😉 It’s going to take a little bit of time, nothing too long though. The good thing about it, is that I will have time to work on my pelvis and walking posture who had been a problem for a year now. I’m lucky to have a good small team around me to help working on my weakness. A few more pics from a couple days ago, before weather turned too bad. Sarah-Jane was doing quite well with altitude and we headed to the next 4000m peak, Castor, at 4225m. It’s another nice summit of the Monte Rosa range with a beautiful ridge. A bit thin at some places. The wind had gotten stronger, the air was colder and the sky was showing signs of bad weather coming. I had a little time pressure in my minds that day. With a steady pace, Sarah-Jane and I got to the summit quite early and before bigger groups showed up. Once again we could have the summit all for ourselves, although only for a short moment. Once again my eyes were amazed by all the beautiful mountains around us. This nice feeling was accompanied by a certain satisfaction to have brought Sarah up here and share all these very special moments with her. Thank you for your trust Sarah-Jane, for being so interested in learning and for all we spent together. It was a real pleasure and I can’t wait for more longer days in the mountains together @je.respire.donc.je.suis 🌞🌞 .
