anyone else experience having an overbearing parent and when you finally can admit that they are overbearing (even if only to yourself) you feel this extreme guilt bc “some people don’t get half as much”? and everyone around you adores your parents and if or when u finally confided in them abt these issues they invalidate them bc “some people don’t get half as much!” and not only have they completely dismissed every awful thing you’ve ever been through, they’re also a little bit selfish? like they’re so in love w each other they’ve never properly learned how to love their children affectively? and if you ever by chance gain the confidence to bring this up you’re inevitably reminded that - you guessed it - some people don’t get half as much. but i swear i’d give up more than half if it meant my parents learned to love me as a person and not just as a milestone in life. i just want to be seen as more than a testament of marriage, a life well lived, or a legacy. i think i deserve that much.
