it still made her mad sometimes how ignorant everyone had been towards them. they hadn't been hurting anyone, they were just always in their own world but everyone always saw it fit to make that their business. it had been a difficult world back then, harsh and unforgiving. despite it all, lucy had kept her head held high even if it was hard. for both of them. they had been the talk of the town for years, even long after they had been apart. but the next scandal came and soon they had moved on. that never made it okay, of course; lucy just didn't find it would help dwelling on the past. "i'm a big goof, i know." she chuckled. even back then, humour had been her coping mechanism. it was easier to crack jokes then face the reality of their situation. lucy looked down at their intertwined hands, her thumb going to stroke her girlfriends knuckles softly. the intimacy and simplistic nature of it all made her heart swell in her chest. "i know we do, but sometimes i pinch myself just to make sure this is all real and it always is." her eyes closed as she felt bexley's lips against the skin of her jaw. "this is our happily ever after we've always talked about and i couldn't be more grateful." she, too, found herself rambling. it was so easy to just get lost in the moment when she was with bexley. "wine and cheese sounds great to me, baby. we can go to the market and get some of those fancy fruit platters too." lucy shushed the blonde, and shook her head. "oh, come on. do you know who you're dating?" she teased. "you never sound like a broken record to me. we've earned our right to be here, be in love and talk about it as much as we want. i'm also so incredibly lucky for all the same reasons."

take a stroll in peace. bexley remembered vividly the side glances they would get from simply walking down the street together or the hallways at school, not to mention the cat calls aimed at them. if it hadn't been for lucy by her side, those situations may have completely pushed her back into the safety of the closet. "silly you," the blonde repeated with a grin, her hands reaching for lucy's to entwine their fingers under the water as the woman's arms wrapped around her. a pink blush spread across her cheeks as she bit down on her lip, thinking about just how much lucy knew about it, "i'd be almost as bold to say you're practically an expert on that subject." blue eyes fluttered closed as she felt the woman's fingers stroking her skin, "we have forever to stay like this, i promise." bexley placed another small kiss to lucy's jaw, "we should make a pact that we do this every week. time just for us, time to just be, exist without the worries of what's going on outside of this house." bexley didn't know too much about relationships but she'd seen enough of her parents loveless marriage growing up to know that they needed to be cherished and continually worked on. "we could have wine and cheese on a whole platter-" she paused when she felt herself start to ramble, "I'm just so lucky that i'm in love with my best friend and every day, every week is so perfect with you." the blonde chuckled at herself, "i must sound like such a broken record all the time." there were so many feelings she had for lucy that made her feel as if she could explode. there weren't enough words or gestures that could explain how lucy made her feel. "this is all i've ever truly wanted."
