surprise! (happy new year + new fic...and ryu’s back :>)

...i think i may have set a new record for my impromptu hiatuses.

i can explain! but rather than apologising with long admin posts and the like, how about a completed fic instead? in the spirit of the new year, expect the completed merry christmas, kiss my ass minho fic (a whole year late) by this wednesday~

i also have changbin’s 90s high school au (and if we’re lucky, hyunjin’s) lined up for january--so look forward to that ^^

Every day was the same routine. Roll out of bed, get placed into a fluffy dress and play the role of the perfect princess. First, you had tutoring for your education, that being speech, embroidery, politics, and of course, the violin. You were, in fact, royalty, and there was no way the king and queen would allow you to attend the kingdom’s public school like the common folks. There were etiquette lessons on how to sit properly, how to properly address others of high status, how to wear your makeup, how your hair needed to be done, how to properly drink a cup of tea, what fork to use and when, and the list could go on.

It was the same mundane thing every day. Your parents were grooming you to be the perfect queen and the perfect bride, which was something you hated with every fibre of your body. You weren’t able to pick who you would spend the rest of your life with. When the time came, your parents would marry you off to a prince of another kingdom of their choosing, one where they knew they would get diplomatic security out of. You didn’t have the right to refuse that, you just had to go with the flow and be obedient.

Snickers erupted around the classroom as your teacher flipped the mock exam paper onto your desk, shaking her head. Sure enough, scrawled across the front page in ruthless red ink, was your latest score—a solid 29/100. Shrugging, you rolled up the test papers before stuffing them into your backpack like a dejected morning newspaper.

“See me after class, Miss L/n.” Your teacher clicked her tongue in disappointment. Whispers from the back of the class began pricking at your ears.

“Isn’t she the eldest daughter of the Yuhan family? The first in line to inherit a multimillion dollar business.”

“The spring exams are right around the corner. If she flunks those, she won’t even graduate—let alone inherit a whole company!”

Their giggles died down the moment you turned around, the huddle of kids scrambling back to their seats and burying their noses in their books. One girl even flashed you an innocent smile.

Despite their scornful tone, the words made you smile. Clasping your hands behind your head lazily, you leaned back in your chair and let your eyes fall shut.
