Deverra gasps, her whole body curling up in a protective ball when her eyes open. She can still feel it, can still hear it, can still see it all. She looks up at Persephone with wide eyes, seeing the fear reflected there in her girlfriend’s gaze. She clutches her tightly. “It felt so real,” she gasps. “It felt.... it felt so real. Fuck.” She leans her head back against Persephone’s lap. “Are you okay? I didn’t mean to scare you, I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”

Another nightmare. If it was bad enough could it count as a night terror? she wondered, leaving her spot at the little table in the corner to go over to the bed where Dev was sleeping. It was her second one this week which was down from past weeks, but still, she hated hearing her voice sound like that. The really bad ones were when she couldn’t seem to wake up. Persephone didn’t know if this was one of those, but she still went over to shake her shoulder lightly.

When nothing happened she sat down next to her sleeping girlfriend, lifting her up enough to get Dev’s head on her lap. Then Persephone bent over, pressing a kiss to her forehead first, then to her cheek before gently brushing her fingers through her hair.

“Please wake up.” The waiting wasn’t nearly as bad as hearing her beg, but it was still bad enough because she knew what scenes were being played and replayed in her head.

“Come on, baby. It kills me to hear you like this.”

Dev grins, taking Persephone’s offered hand as she walks over to her. She presses her nose against Persephone’s neck before kissing her collarbone. “It’s not like he’s going anywhere,” she says softly-- happily. “And I get to have you all to myself  now and then. Especially when you talk like that.”

“You know, it is just so weird that you can read my thoughts like that.” Turning around, and leaning against the bathroom counter, holding a hand out for her to take.

“I know Odin is waiting for us downstairs, but he’s going to have to wait a little longer.”
