Trolls AU idea: Brood Dad Floyd

What if Floyd is a dad to a brood of kids? Not as big a brood as Bruce's, but still...

If my troll reproduction HC applies, he had to have scored quite a few lucky trolls (and healthy trolls, in cases of those who laid his eggs) who also wanted kids like he did.

Meet Jake, another Funk-Rock Troll inspired by @zivazivc's OC Flea.

Jake is Reuben's older brother. He's the leader, manager and bassist of Stardust Dice. He's a rocker and a rapper because, like I said in my Tyrese post, I refuse to believe Prince D is the first Hip-Hop/Rapper of his tribe!

When Stardust Dice was just a ragtag group of kids, Jake would try to keep his brother and the twins Beck and Biff out of trouble and keep them from going too far in their mischief, and was often pushy about it. However, he was never above things like pulling a chocolate pudding heist (that Floyd may or may not have been roped into 🤭) with the group at their local school at night on a weekend.

Jake's bossiness carried into Stardust Dice's activities when they became a band, but he would ease up thanks to Floyd's intervention.

Side note: Jake is Floyd's age while the rest of Stardust Dice is three years younger.

Jake is a chill dude when he's not under stress nor pissed off while under the influence of alcohol.

Jake started smoking when he was 18 (his two moms and dad wouldn't let him and Reuben smoke or drink until they reached that age). It helps calm the nerves and relieve stress from managing the band, keeping his bandmates outta trouble, or being in crowded areas for too long (when he's not high or drunk). That habit would come back to bite him in the ass in the form of headaches, coughing fits, breathing problems, and addiction.

As time went on, Jake's role as the wrangler and his bandmates' as the ones needing to be kept out of trouble would be reversed as he got deeper into drugs.

As indicated by Jake's tail, his dreadlocks aren't natural. Here's what it looked like when he was a kid before he had it done.

Jake is also inspired by D Smoke during his part in Rare Americans' "Rythm Kitchen". Which reminds me, Jake can cook a mean dish, but he can be a bitch in the kitchen when it comes to sanitation and making sure the food isn't ruined. In fact, he keeps the hair band on his wrist (plus a few spares in his mane) so he would tie his hair up at any moment when he's about to cook or clean.

Fun fact: When Jake was a kid, he had a squeaky voice which would later shift to a baritone as he went through puberty.

Sentimental Troll!Veneer Idea (with a side of Cannibalism)

Inspired by @ohposhers's shitpost and @ezhiaray's post based on the shitpost (guys, chill! It's not ship art!).

When Velvet and Veneer notice similarities between Floyd and their late father, they become wistful.

Whereas Veneer thinks about how his dad would feel if he knew what Velvet and Veneer had been doing, reflects on his and his sister's actions, and thus changes his ways accordingly; Velvet angrily doubles down, seeking to stomp out these awful feelings brought upon by Floyd's similarities to her dad.

Upon tasting the extracted talent by mistake, Velvet feels a rush of joy as well as Floyd's talent running through her veins. She opts to take Floyd's talent through another method: eating him.

When Veneer sees his father figure down a leg and realizes what Velvet is doing, he takes Floyd and GTFOs at the first opportunity.

All that could be symbolic of the twins seeing an opportunity to turn over a new leaf and turn their lives around: whereas Velvet pushes it away, Veneer embraces it and goes through that door before it closes on him forever.

[Insert dialogue of a ten-year-old ranting to his previously-unknown Pop dad about the mistreatment he and his sister endured in the Techno foster system just for being half-Pop.]

--We didn’t ask for any of that! We never asked to be made!! Where was all that love and care these past ten years? Where was that these past FIVE YEARS?!!

I have no excuse… I’m sorry I wasn’t there.

No kid should ever have to go through such hardship, especially not at such a young age as you were…

Despite how angry and upset they are, they’re still kids and they’re hurting and they need a hug. Also, you gotta let them get it outta their system.

This takes place in a universe in which Floyd mans up and takes those kids in after being reminded of their existence and informed of their situation. There are some other things that sets this AU apart from Ziva’s but I’m not gonna spoil any more than I probably already am. Plus, the AU is still a work-in-progress.

The kids are sent straight to Pop Village after the events of Trolls World Tour, and all of BroZone is informed of the kids’ existence after ancestry test results come out.

Why’s Eddy M pissed at Floyd, you may wonder? It’s because Eddy M knows Floyd knew of his and Ravin’s existence from the start and didn’t bother being part of their lives until Floyd was reminded of their existence and informed about their situation. Ravin knows that too, but she’s more upset that she’s reliving the trauma she and her brother underwent.

In the Mirverse, Eddy M and Ravin’s Techno dad died when they were five, and their Techno grandparents, whom they thought loved them, shunted them off to the Techno foster system where they were mistreated for being half-Pop.

The kids are supposed to be ten years old in this. If Floyd is thirteen when BroZone split, in his mid-twenties when he had those two eggs with that Techno troll, then he should be in his mid-thirties in this (at least in the Mirverse and according to my headcanons). If you notice the kids’ heights are possibly inconsistent for a ten-year-old, please ignore this error because I was too late to fix it. Maybe their time in the shitty-ass Techno foster system stunted their growth?

Wondering about Eddy M’s bandages? Well, all I’m gonna say is that Eddy M ran into trouble and got hurt. And nope, it wasn’t during his and Ravin’s time in the Techno foster system.

As for the clothes the kids are wearing? They were gifted those clothes when they were in the much nicer Pop Village foster home/orphanage.

Notice Floyd’s tattoo? The flowers are forget-me-nots, which I picked for a symbolic meaning that's literally in the name. I’m gonna let you try to figure out the rest (; btw the tattoo design isn't finalized, so it's subject to change.

Oh, and I hope you don’t mind the alterations and errors in Eddy M and Ravin’s designs. I was almost done with the pic so it was too late to fix those errors (the bangs and eyebrows), I’ll try to rectify that and see if I can make those details work next time I draw those two. As for the alterations, I wanted to simplify Ravin’s skin for ease of drawing and I struggled to make Eddy M’s Techno troll teeth work.

I've finally finished this Funk-Rock babe! He's partially inspired by @zivazivc's OC Flea and "Surfacing" from Hi-Fi Rush.

Reuben is the guitarist of a band called Startdust Dice.

My ideal voice for this babe is Jesse McCartney.

The name of his band came from a particular set of dice (he has a hobby of collecting dice, and yes, that trinket right there is a die) that he shared with his brother Jake (who's also Flea-inspired) and two childhood friends Beck and Biff.

I made this playlist when I was thinking about @octomyth's Floyd's Apprentice AU and @ohposhers' Trolls!V&V AU and picturing various Found Family scenarios involving Floyd and Troll!Veneer.

Also, at least one vid I added is not necessarily for its song ('cause I feel like it's out of character for Veneer to tell Velvet "fuck you" because I imagine he'd still love his sister despite her having mistreated him), but rather for the acrobatics portrayed.

Back-in-the-day BroZone idea

How wholesome would it be if the lucky gal who won a date with Spruce is actually sweet and considerate?

She was once in a toxic relationship with a pushy guy.

She takes note of Spruce's discomfort and makes sure to provide him an out.

Of course, Spruce insists on pleasing the lucky gal despite his discomfort.

Later, the gal is like, "You don't have to do this if you don't want to."

She sits down and tells Spruce about her experience with her ex, how she knows how it feels to be pressured into doing things one doesn't wanna do, and how she never wants anyone to go through that even if it's to please her.

Spruce opens up a bit about his frustrations and how he feels pressured to maintain his heartthrob persona.

The gal encourages him to walk his own path, stand up for himself and not let anyone push him around, and do what he knows is right for himself.

She and Spruce have a nice conversation after that and part on friendly terms.

I imagine this event would take place not long before the botched Perfect Family Harmony and serve as the catalyst to Spruce quitting.

Sentimental Veneer AU

What if Velvet and Veneer have a late father who was a lot like Floyd in terms of personality?

TRIGGER WARNING: DOMESTIC ABUSE, IMPLIED/REFERENCED TERMINAL ILLNESS/CANCER, IMPLIED/REFERENCED DEATH

Veneer would be more melancholy compared to his canon counterpart, and he handles Floyd much more gently.

At first, Veneer views Floyd similarly to how Velvet views him. That attitude starts to falter when Veneer notices similarities between his dad and Floyd.

What actually kick-starts Veneer's change of heart is when Floyd chides him and Velvet for mistreating Crimp and asked them if their parents raised them to behave that way.

While Velvet brushes Floyd off with a "you're not our dad", what Floyd said and the gentle yet firm way he chided Velvet and Veneer makes Veneer think about their father, whom he misses dearly, and the things his dad taught him and tried to teach Velvet.

Veneer also thinks about how he's been treating Crimp, so he apologizes to her and starts treating her nicer.

Out of guilt and shame, Veneer tries to help Floyd escape.

Veneer gets caught by Velvet who grabs Floyd, slaps Veneer, grabs him by the hair, slams him this way and that, and shouts him into submission.

Floyd, who just witnessed what Velvet put Veneer through, realizes the severity of the situation Veneer is in.

Floyd decides to stay to comfort and emotionally support Veneer, and get him to leave the abusive situation.

Floyd is not leaving until Veneer does.

When Veneer takes note of Floyd going pale and his hair turning white, and realizes he and Velvet are sucking the life out of him, Veneer is reminded of the times he visited his dad in the hospital. Veneer remembers seeing him going pale and his hair turning white from all the treatment he underwent.

As soon as Velvet leaves the room and is out of earshot, Veneer breaks down crying, uncorking the bottle and begging Floyd to leave this hell.

Floyd doesn't budge, insisting he's not leaving without Veneer.

Floyd is not leaving another kid behind.

Also, Veneer can sing really well in this AU without relying on Floyd's talent. He only spritzes himself to please Velvet.

If Mount Rageons were trolls

Inspired by @ohposhers' Trolls!V&V AU and some conversations I had with @octomyth about their Floyd’s Apprentice AU.

Mount Rageon Trolls are descended from Pop Trolls.

Before the Bergens rounded up the Pop Trolls, the Mount Rageon Trolls’ ancestors moved up Mount Rageous and made a home there, effectively evading capture at the Bergens’ hands.

In the generations that followed, they developed technology that advanced quickly.

They stopped relying on their hair extension abilities as they see little or no use in said abilities due to the conveniences of advancing technology.

They kept their hair-color-changing ability for fashion and vanity reasons. Also, disguises.

Vanity, greed, and pride became common among them. That is not to say they are incapable of kindness, compassion, or love though.

Traits:

Their bodies are flexible, stretchy, and more durable than those of other trolls, but their bodies cannot stretch as far as their hair can.

Their hair, which they hardly use to leap or grapple anymore, is also noodly and rubberhose-y.

While their bodies can withstand a lot of impact or abuse compared to trolls of other tribes, that does not mean they cannot feel any pain.

They have no fur—not even peach fuzz. Their skin has that rubber-like texture and sheen.

I wonder if future Trolls movies will contain references to past Dreamworks movies?

Such as:

A country troll or funk troll getting captured the way Spirit does in Spirit: Stallion or the Cimarron.

An antagonist posing as Branch about to take Poppy as his girl after he tricks her into drinking a love potion while Branch and his brothers rush to expose the impostor before he kisses Poppy. Like how Shrek and his friends rush to thwart the Fairy Godmother's scheme to make Princess Fiona love Prince Charming.

Those are all I can think of off the top of my head, but how awesome would that be?!
