For every song that you are in make sure you analyse what needs to be done to complete the performance:

The Musicianship

The extra instruments we have decided to add (who are they)

The visuals (what should they be?, who will be finding them?)

Also:

What stood out for you from the songs you were not in?

This will help with deciding which 10 songs will be put together for the Lunchtime show (to be decided on Monday) or we can always decide to make songs shorter and make more medleys)

And evaluate how well you have kept up with the blogging as this is something that will decide who gets to play on the songs.

We will show the rest of the songs on Monday morning and go from there

Things to consider for today’s action plan 

Project proposal written (Final version to be completed before Friday)

Add 'Harvard referencing' to the research that you have conducted so far

Come up with ideas for poster artwork (also for lunchtime showing)

Learn/rehearse at least one new idea for the show (to be video’d on Friday afternoon in rehearsal for this weeks evaluation) Everything will be shown in the Venue next Friday (26th)

Plan the rehearsals together so that the songs will get the time they need

Coming up with your own songs/band castings to add to the rota

Documenting the process fully in your blog

Watch the 2nd years FMP and evaluate it for value to our own work. (What techniques had an effect on the audience? What didn’t work?)

You will have noticed that the last part of your Project Proposal is titled ‘Proposed Research Sources & Bibliography (Harvard Format)’

In this section I need you to list the types of research you have already been using as well as those you anticipate using during the project.

Also I would like you to demonstrate here that you know how to use the Harvard system and then use it for every piece of research that you put onto your WIX site from now on

Why do we need to do this?

There are many reasons but the main two are:

Firstly it will help you to avoid accusations of plagiarism. So that you can include other peoples work on your site and be clear about what opinions are your own.

Secondly as we use so much research these days from the Internet from sites like Youtube, we need to show when we accessed the information because the person in control of the content could change it at any time.

When you have finished writing the other sections of your proposal then Post the first piece of secondary research from your research tab and include the Harvard Reference below it.

After Easter, you will be called back in on Monday 15th of April. (Remember that you have all been booked a ticket for the 2nd years show on the evening of Friday 19th of April)

You will be called in to work on two Thursdays in May. The 16th and 23rd (the week before and the week of the FMP)

The week after the FMP you will be called in on Tuesday the 28th of May and one other day that week (Half term for the rest of the college)

Project Proposal Guidance

After we decide on an overall theme (We will do this today, after showing the group pitches) It will be time to write your Project Proposal Please make sure you are clear about the theme idea, the project dates and have completed this weeks WIX blogging and evaluation before you start writing your project proposal

The deadline for your first draft is Tuesday 26th at 5pm

The UAL guidance is on your WIX site. Do not delete the guidance yet as you will need it. Write underneath each section so that you can keep referring to it as you write. (Don’t forget to publish it when you are done)

You can see that there is a word count. This is because it is very hard to keep it down to that number of words and it therefore forces you to work out what is most important to say and become very clear and precise in your thinking. Don’t worry about the word count too much on your first try at this. I will tell you if it’s too long.

Your proposal will be graded but I will help you with it before it is finalised (and you will have guidance over Tuesday/Wednesday) The guidance on your WIX site is written by UAL (the awarding body) so I have added little bit here about each section to help to relate it to our project.

Rationale Your proposal is about you. How you have grown on the course over all the previous performances, (as performer and audience) recordings, lectures and projects. Everyone is different in terms of level, instruments, experience and confidence. It is also about your intentions. How does your experiences so far, effect what you want to do next. (You will have already set out some intentions in your personal manifesto)

Project Concept Show your understanding of the theme that we have come up with together, what direction you can now see the research going, what you will need to get the most out of this project and how you can develop your passions within it. We can state what we know, such as how we intend to be performing together live for this concept in front of an audience, with the use of our own lighting states and video projection

Evaluation How exactly you plan on gathering the evidence, keep ongoing reflections, work on collaboration skills and avoid discipline issues when working with other people

Project action plan and timetable

How you will take responsibility for the organisational issues that come with the project. Managing your time, planning ahead and taking responsibility for looking after the intentions of the whole company

Guidance for today's Action Plan

Any outstanding work from your Tech Blog site will need to be completed before you take part in any FMP rehearsals (I will see everyone in the cage to sign you off or give further guidance today)

Tidy the rehearsal booth that you will be working in before using it

Meet with your group to discuss the idea and your approach to re-working it. Each group member needs to have their input. Can your pitch idea/concept research add value to the idea? How about the challenging material you’ve set out to learn? 

Make some decisions about what songs you will be learning/section of the idea you will be making music for and an initial rehearsal plan

Make a group WIX site to present the re-imagined concept from

When you will be completing the blog reflections (there will be some time outside of rehearsals on Tuesday/Wednesday

On Friday you will begin to write your project proposal

Next Monday you will show the pitches, after this you will be able to write the first weekly evaluation
