MlleClaudine's ramblings. If there is a unifying theme, it's probably that I read too much and don't sleep a lot, so everything I find interesting or amusing is likely to show up here. And cats. Lots of cats. Fanfic (mostly Cophine these days, but also D.E.B.S., ER and DS9) posted as MlleClaudine over at AO3 and FanFiction.net
List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you! get to know your mutuals and followers - only if you want ;)
I feel I've done this one a few times, so I'll answer with the 5 things that made me happy today: my wife; my friends and family; watching little green things growing in my garden from the seeds I've nurtured over the past few weeks; that first glorious sip of coffee at the ass-crack of dawn; and figuring out the solution to a tricky problem presented by a favorite client.
Do you have any advice for someone who loves your art, but is terrified of buying a piece and accidentally breaking it? Thank you for sharing your work on here, where I can't destroy it by loving it too hard. 🤍
I don’t have advice so much as I have thoughts
when someone makes a quilt for your bed, you can hang it on the wall to keep it safe from wear and tear, but they made it to be used. the quilt’s job is to keep you warm and cozy. it’ll wear through in places and maybe eventually disintegrate, but this kind of art is happy to be loved, and touched
there’s nothing wrong with hanging them up and just enjoying the way they look, but some things (lots of fibre arts and pottery especially) are made to be held and enjoyed. sometimes they get chipped or worn or broken, but that’s part of their purpose and there’s something beautiful about that.
Our fandom forbearers did NOT suffer through Anne Rice, strikethrough, and other bullshit for fucking ACOTAR and Harry Potter fans to fucking ruin it for all of us by selling fanfiction. I am not losing novel length yaoi epics because some of you don't know how to act in fannish spaces and yes I do blame the booktokification of fanfic but I also blame those of you that treat fandom like content to consume and not a community to engage with.
