I had another dream last night I feel the need to write down, I don’t understand it.
I was invited to someone’s home. A man shorter than me with brown eyes was showing me around.
As we were walking, a group of annoying people started following us. He wanted to lose them. As we passed through a doorless doorway, there was a man hiding around the corner to our right.
He had a knife. The brown eyed man purposely ignored him, so I followed his lead even though the knife scared me.
When the group of annoying people walked through the doorway, the man with the knife jumped out between us and the group. He pretended to mug them with the knife.
The man leading me walked faster, and showed me a trap door in the wall. We walked in between the walls in the secret hallway to a room that was quiet. We lost the group of annoying people.
I don’t remember the next part, but I left the man and went back to the living room.
The first movie my dad took me to in theaters was The Lion King.
I remember sitting on his shoulders when we walked into the the theater. I was awestruck by the size of the room and screen.
He told me he went to Kennedy High School. I’m not good at searching for things online though, and I don’t know what years he went there.
Also, I don’t know when they changed the name.
When I wasn’t supposed to be listening to my family talk as a kid, I heard my grandma say that “her parents died when she was a child.”
I always thought that’s why she grew up on that homestead, that she was an orphan.
When Erin and I saw them on this past Christmas, I realized they didn’t physically die when she was a kid, and I was so confused.
The first time I brought Erin to their house, these were the blankets my grandma put on the bed we slept in.
During this past Christmas, my grandma said proudly that she had to
“sell 3 of her horses in order to marry my grandpa. They couldn’t come with since he was forced to join the army.”
My grandpa said that as a kid he was taught “if you don’t work you don’t eat.”
Then when he graduated school, people wouldn’t hire you unless you already served in the forces. They didn’t want to risk having you drafted and taken away from their work. So that’s why he joined.

Or my PlayStation just can’t load them all. I really don’t know anymore.

My dad and grandpa would get the newspaper every Sunday until my dad got sick.
The only part they would read was the “funnies”.

Free bird was the song of my dad’s graduating class.
When I was in high school, I. Called the radio station and requested they play this song. They didn’t, so I had like, 25+ people call in and request it.
They said that this song wasn’t something they were interested in playing.
I don’t think that flash drive my dad gave me during our trip to Shasta is the same one we all looked at as a family. It’s a different flash drive.
I don’t have that one, those pictures were all new to me.

There might be many forms of this? Maybe hate speech spreading too?
Yeah there are a lot of people who are truly hateful… but I feel like stuff like this and bots make it seem like there’s more of them than there really are.
Today I wanted to try to make it to rose falls and the stairway portage.
I’ve never done the Caribou Rock trail before, and I was in the mood to see the waterfalls for the first time.
The portage is historical, during fur trade times new workers would be christened as true voyageurs after completing it.
This whole video is sweet, but the part about the voyageurs is around 40:50.

West Bearskin Lake was beautiful as the sun was coming up.
There was still ice on Moss lake.
I saw moose tracks and deer tracks at separate locations. It reminded me of a time when I was in high school.
Erin, a few friends, and I would go to Chalco at night and run around pretending to be wolves.
One night I wandered away from everyone and lay down to stargaze in the grass. I ended up falling asleep. A herd of deer came to investigate me, I woke up to them sniffing my face.
In that hazy space between sleeping and waking, them sniffing me sounded like a train coming towards me.
The next day at school I was walking in the hallway between classes. I scratched my scalp, and found a tick I had missed. When I ripped it out I panicked and stomped on it. My blood went everywhere on the tiles.
I made it about halfway to rose falls today. Actually, I got lost for half an hour. I knew where I was, but lost the trail. My body started panicking so I sat down and ate my fruit snacks.
I realized I was more sleep deprived than I admitted to myself. My mind wasn’t thinking too clearly.
Plus, there were a lot of grouse drumming. Their drums give me a headache, make my heart race, and make my vision black out.

When I found the trail again I ate my apple, then I started heading back to our car.
I stopped at moss lake and had some lunch while reflecting. Mac and cheese, fry bread, and Irish cream hot chocolate.
I saw a new type of lichen I haven’t seen before.
When I got home I took a nap and slept better than I have in months. I’m still tired, but feel amazing now.
Planes.
I heard at least 5 of them during my hike back after getting lost. They sounded big, they were north and all sounded like they were heading the same direction.
Most days I don’t hear a single one. I heard all of these in under 3 hours.
Gunnar had this song on his playlist he would play for everyone at work in the kitchen. I noticed everyone would get quiet and silently bob along to it more than most of the other songs.
This song came out so long ago, things are different now.
