The way this fandom simplifies dabis whole character and labels him as a "jealous kid with daddy issues that turned bad bc he no longer had daddy's attention" makes me wanna d word?? He was a child? What if he was jealous? Isn't this normal for an unsupervised child whose mental health was totally neglected?

Dabi is literally every bright child with so much happiness and potential slowly losing that spark bc of no support and literally getting burnt out. Am i saying what he did was not bad? No. But i do understand why it happened, his mental state is not an excuse but an explanation and his problems lied on more than just mere jealousy imagine your dad labels you useless, your other parent is also mentally unstable and too busy trying to protect the youngest child, you are left as the oldest to possibly take care of your other siblings who are also neglected. Imagine all this lack of support at 12-14 age that you go to your younger brother to cry and not to an adult bc you have nobody.

I'm just interested at whether the accident happened deliberately (some people say he staged it but i find it too much like he wouldn't have done this to himself to this extent just to stage his death) or he genuinely tried to train alone to prove himself and it went terribly wrong and he was too ashamed to go back (if he was even capable of going somewhere considering his literal jaw fell off). Touya is such a mystery why do i have to look at afos ugly face when we could have dabi backstory?? Also seeing him go from this carefree determined kid to slowly smiling more timidly, making himself look smaller and less visible? Yeah endeavor can go to hell

He literally is one of the most compelling characters in the story, but some people just care about the light-hearted side. Which, honestly, is Horikoshi’s fault for not including the villains more right off the bat. If he hadn’t made it seem like some slice of life story in the first arc, the fandom wouldn’t be so divided.

I want the people who misunderstand his character to look at this child:

and tell him he’s nothing more than just a jealous kid with daddy issues. I dare you. But also don’t who the fuck would dare say that to this baby.
