I love antagonists who mirror the protagonist instead of contrast them. They are the most extreme version of the protagonist, someone with the same dreams and beliefs who believed these things could only be achieved by the sharpest tools. The crushing weight of knowing that could be you.

"Stop saying Aziraphale and Crowley are friends! Their relationship is romantic!" I get saying this when people are denying the characters' love out of homophobia but also, they're best friends. They love each other so much in so many different ways and saying "I think you mean partners/spouses" when someone who is clearly well meaning refers to them as friends is just kind of incorrect. Crowley and Aziraphale's relationship is deep and complicated and I don't think a singular label can describe what they are to each other, I mean 6000 years of friendship and love isn't something that any living person can really fathom, let alone shove into a tiny box.

I love when fiction makes the audience feel guilty about their role as the audience. When something fucked up is treated as a joke but later it's recognised how fucked up it was and the audience feels guilty for finding it funny. When a character breaks the fourth wall to plead for help, and you can't do anything so you just watch. And you know that the characters pain isn't real, but they're begging for help and you're not helping because their suffering is entertainment for you
