Happy belated Luther stabbed himself in the foot Day

Lucas Cranach the Elder, Portrait of Martin Luther, 1529.
“It was the third day of the Feast of Easter,. and in the company of a friend he proceeded on foot to the city. He was dressed in the attire then usual with the students, with a sword on one thigh, and a dagger in his girdle. On the way Luther made a stumble, and the dagger came out of the sheath and fell upon his foot, severing one of the large arteries. The blood flowed copiously, and fearing that he might bleed to death, his companion took him on his shoulders, and carried him back to Erfurt, where the services of a surgeon were obtained, and the wound properly attended to. A cure was soon effected.”
(From Martin Luther: Student, Monk, Reformer by John Rae, 1884, pp.27-28)

“And behold there was a great earthquake. For an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and coming, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. And his countenance was as lightning, and his raiment as snow. […] And the angel answering, said to the women… ‘He is not here, for He is risen, as He said.’” — Matthew 28:2-7

A heart shield bible from World War II. These bibles were often sent to soldiers from their loved ones. They were metal plated and would be kept in the shirt pocket, protecting the heart.

Historically literate Protestants, when do you think the Catholic Church started? Like when do you think the Catholic Church emerged from the community Christ founded. I mean this not as a "gotcha" but to understand your worldview a bit. Where I grew up is a quite secular area and haven't had the courage to have this awkward conversation with my colleagues. I understand people who just grew up hearing what their pastors said, but I want to know what Protestants who have really thought about history think.

you call the God of Israel a cruel and unfeeling god but i never saw any other deity from any other religion leave their exalted position in the heavens to humble themselves and serve their own creation to the point of death so that they could be reconciled with them forever. but that's just me though
