“The New York Academy’s “Take Home A Nude” auction, now in its 27th year, takes place each year at Sotheby’s, and raises money for student scholarships and programming at the Academy. A silent and live auction featured works from Herb Ritts, Jan Frank, Judy Chicago, David Lynch and others. Attendees included Brooke Shields, Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts, Princess Alexandra of Greece, Eileen Guggenheim and artist Mickalene Thomas.”
“Jerry Hall, in attendance with her husband Rupert Murdoch, was among the 11 artists muses honored that evening. “I’m looking forward to seeing the young people’s art,” she said. “I think it’s so inspiring.””
“On July 30, three members of the academy’s board—Ippolita Rostagno, Alina Lundry, and Valerie Cooper—resigned en masse. Two weeks earlier, the actress Naomi Watts also resigned from the board. Their decisions were a result of the school’s handling of Farmer’s allegations, according to an alum who has knowledge of the situation and asked to remain anonymous. The former board members could not be reached for comment.”
“The remaining board members did not comment on the resignations, but the executive committee issued a “profound apology” yesterday to Farmer and other alumni who are “upset and angry” with its response, according to a letter it wrote to alumni. The board is also making a $30,000 donation—the amount Epstein gave in scholarship support to the academy in 2014—to a charity for victims of sexual assault.
Farmer has previously told Artnet News that Eileen Guggenheim, who is chair of the academy’s board, introduced her to Epstein and his alleged co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell at her thesis show in 1995 and encouraged her to sell them her work at a discounted price because of the financial support Epstein had offered to the academy. (Epstein served on the school’s board from 1987 to 1994.)”

“An archived newspaper clipping indicates that Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell were guests of honour on a Sydney Harbour Christmas cruise hosted by Australian billionaire trucking magnate Lindsay Fox in 1995—along with media mogul James Packer and musician Deni Hines.”
“Packer and his then-girlfriend Hines were also at the party, along with Rodney Adler, former director of FAI Insurances group, and his wife Lindy. Maxwell and Epstein had reportedly been spending time in Melbourne with the Fox family before travelling to Sydney for a “brief visit”.”
“A young Packer was dating glamorous British TV weather girl Tania Bryer about the time Maxwell was in a long-time relationship with the 'dashing and charming' Italian aristocrat Count Gianfranco Cicogna.
After both relationships ended in tears, Ms Bryer would go on to fall into the arms of Count Cicogna, while Maxwell was reportedly left in despair.
Ghislaine's next love would be Jeffrey Epstein.
The intriguing connection comes as decades-old newspaper clippings resurfaced this week, shedding light on Maxwell and Epstein's links to the Australian social set in the 1990s.
An old gossip item recalled how the now-notorious pair traveled Down Under to visit friends in Melbourne, party on Sydney Harbour and kick back on the Great Barrier Reef.
Separate archived material reveals the cross-over in the love lives of one of Packer's old flames and Ms Maxwell, who was once better known than Epstein.”
“In official records, Mnuchin is listed as the official state point of contact for Next Management Corporation, a company formed in 1988 by modeling-industry insiders Jean-Luc Brunel and Arnaud Brunel. At the time, Jean-Luc Brunel had just been the subject of a 60 Minutes documentary accusing him of drugging and raping at least three models. Later, he would be accused by two women of supplying girls to Epstein to be sexually abused. (Brunel has denied the allegations.)”
“Mnuchin’s office did confirm that he was longtime friends with Faith Kates, the owner of the Next modeling agency. The Brunel brothers co-founded the Next agency with Kates in 1989, and their company, Next Management Corp., owned a 25 percent stake in the agency for several years. The address listed under Mnuchin’s name in the state department records is the first address for Kates’ company, Next Management Company.”

“Other Hollywood industry leaders Farrow talked to didn't keep quiet about the subject of his investigation — in the case of director-producer Brett Ratner, it may have been because he also had something to hide, Farrow wrote.
When Farrow talked to Ratner, he said Ratner told him that he may know of a woman who had a bad experience with Weinstein, but Farrow noted that he sounded jittery.
Also, despite Ratner saying he wouldn't tell Weinstein about his conversation with Farrow, he reportedly called Weinstein soon after and told him anyways.
Six women later accused Ratner of sexual harassment. A representative for Ratner didn't immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.”
“The list also includes RatPac-Dune producer Brett Ratner, who has also been accused of sexual assault by multiple women in the wake of the Weinstein scandal, causing Warner Bros. to rethink their producing deal with his studio. Ratner has denied all allegations. In Farrow’s second report about Weinstein’s “army of spies,” he describes how agents would contact people targeted by Weinstein, giving false names and recording their conversations in order to get dirt on those they feared might be about to go on the record.”
“Meanwhile, Mnuchin’s former RatPac-Dune principal Ratner announced on Feb. 4 that he has acquired Jaime Rogozinski’s life rights and is developing a film and podcast about the founder of Reddit’s WallStreetBets. The move raised eyebrows around town given that in November 2017, Ratner was accused of sexual misconduct by six women in a Los Angeles Times story, prompting Warners to sever its relationship with him and WME to drop him as a client.
Separately, a woman accused Ratner of rape in a Facebook post, which he denied (he sued the accuser for defamation, and both sides eventually dropped their claims). He also has been accused of facilitating the sexual abuse of Charlotte Kirk in ongoing litigation involving the actress and a group of Hollywood power brokers.
But Ratner has a new publicist, crisis guru Howard Bragman, and has been quietly funding projects and filmmakers he believes in and is working on several documentaries. “Brett never left. He was working all this time,” says Bragman, who wouldn’t name the projects. “He just chose to be low-profile.”
Though Ratner and Mnuchin’s names are surfacing again in Hollywood at the same time, the two have no plans to team in the future. Adds Bragman: “Ratner and Mnuchin remain friendly, but have no business relationship since their Warners funding deal ended.””

“Former Goldman Sachs banker turned film producer turned Treasury Secretary of the United States Steven Mnuchin wasn't in Hollywood for long, but he built a substantial resume filled with popular movies (and some not so popular ones) during his time as a producer.
In 2013, Mnuchin's production company, Dune Entertainment, partnered with Brett Ratner's company, RatPac Entertainment, to form RatPac-Dune Entertainment. Mnuchin was producing movies left and right until recently, when President Donald Trump appointed him Treasury Secretary and he was confirmed.
He even acted in one of the films he produced — as a banker. He also produced some films that are coming out very soon. ”
““Steve is not someone who will be greatly missed,” one senior film executive told TheWrap, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
“He was fine to deal with,” another insider recalled. “A little socially awkward, but fine.”
If Mnuchin was uncomfortable around the entertainment elite, he’s certainly worked through his anxieties. He has a brief cameo playing a banker in Warren Beatty’s “Rules Don’t Apply,” which is currently in theaters.
“He enjoyed the functions and really became accustomed to the lifestyle,” the insider said.
But Mnuchin was firmly “not a creative guy. He’s a money guy who, for what it’s worth, never really cared to dive deep and reach down into an organization,” according to another film executive who worked alongside him.”
“Mnuchin’s credits also include the lackluster “Pan” with Hugh Jackman as a steampunk Captain Hook, and Ron Howard’s pricey passion flop “In the Heart of the Sea.””
“In Hollywood, Mr Mnuchin's investment firm Dune Capital teamed with Mr Murdoch's 20th Century Fox film studio to co-produce the Baz Luhrmann-directed movie Australia. The third-highest grossing Australian film of all time starred Hugh Jackman and Kidman. Dune Entertainment and Fox also developed X-Men, Borat, The Devil Wears Prada and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
After the Fox relationship ended, in 2013 Mr Packer's and film producer Brett Ratner's production company RatPac Entertainment merged with Dune to finance movies.
The RatPac-Dune Entertainment joint venture reportedly signed a $US450 million financing deal with Warner Bros to fund up to 75 films, including Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity, The Lego Movie, American Sniper, Mad Max: Fury Road, Godzilla and Jersey Boys.”

“Tom was just a guest in the end
Billionaire James Packer and model and singer Erica Baxter have capped three days of pre-wedding celebrations with a private ceremony followed by a lavish celebrity reception.
Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes (inset) were on hand to help Australia’s richest man tie the knot – but he was not called upon to conduct his first Scientology wedding for his close friend, as many had speculated.
As guests at the French Riviera celebrations, they were joined by Rupert Murdoch and his wife Wendi, the News Corporation boss’s son Lachlan with his model wife Sarah Murdoch, and Australian champion cricketer Shane Warne.”

“In the midst of his despair, Packer reveals he turned to old friend Warren Beatty, and spent years living in the Hollywood star's guest house, eventually calling him 'Dad' – though he’s keen to point out that means no disrespect to his later father, Kerry, who engineered so much of the family’s runaway business success.”
“The book – published later this month –describes Packer’s personal torment, drink and mental issues, which the billionaire describes as 'very scary.' He says he came to the realization his problems were only 'getting worse' - causing him to be 'desperately worried,' according to the extract in The Australian.
Beatty is notorious for avoiding media interviews but he chose to sit down and talk about Packer for the book, a sign of how much he values and cares for the man.
The actor would be the one who helped Packer finally seek help, referring him to a top psychiatrist who immediately asked him: 'Are you trying to kill yourself?'
'I don't know if I started crying, but I thought to myself, 'I don't want to have $1.4 billion of debt any more. Why am I doing this?' Packer says.”
“At the time Packer was living with movie legend Warren Beatty in the guest house of Beatty's Mulholland Drive estate in the Hollywood Hills.
While Packer came to refer to Beatty as "Dad', that title does not sit comfortably with Beatty. 'That would not come to mind, a father figure,' he says in the book. 'I would say a friend.'
'He has been both graced and victimised - and I would say more graced - by the inheritance,' Beatty says of Packer's family wealth. He wishes he had met Kerry.
'I have never questioned James about his father - that is so deep. I would not want to in some superficial way invade that territory.
'But of the people I know that knew Kerry Packer, I don't know that the father had the capability of self-analysis that I think I see in James.'”

“Just a little over a month ago, Warren Beatty declared he was done talking about the best picture fiasco at this year’s Oscars. That doesn’t mean people have stopped asking him about it, though. When the actor stopped by the Graham Norton Show in England, in a segment set to air Friday night, the host asked him to recall that hectic night.
“I guess you could say it was chaos,” Beatty said, per The Guardian.”
“Alas, he still had to discuss the night with Norton. Beatty also insisted that, somehow, the mix-up wasn’t the dominant topic of conversation that evening.
“No, that’s not true,” he said per _The Daily M_ail. “People talk about themselves!””
“In the interview, Beatty also discussed his return to form in Rules Don’t Apply, describing the end of his performance hiatus with a rather interesting comparison.
“I have sometimes compared it to vomiting,” he said of his desire to make new movies. “I don’t like to vomit and I rarely vomit, but something builds up, you think about it for a long time, you try to avoid it—but finally you think you will feel better if you go ahead and throw up.””
““I think we’re all processing the horror of it," MacLaine tells USA TODAY. “I’m still dealing with it.”
“I’m concerned with how (Beatty) must have felt being so close to him. I’m three years older and I’m protective," MacLaine says. “We know how difficult it was for him, but it was also for me.””
“MacLaine, 82, says she called Beatty, 79, "immediately" after the show.
"He was backstage dealing with what he was going through. He didn’t answer his phone," MacLaine says. "And then I called the home and (wife Annette Bening) answered and we talked. And that’s all I’m going to say.””
“MacLaine stopped briefly at the Governors Ball party after the show. But ended up heading out.
"I just wanted to go home. It’s something to really think about, what if it happened to you?" MacLaine says.”
““It is an awe-inspiring when you are in front of all of those people you respect so much. Anyone who does the Oscars is nervous if they have a brain," says MacLaine. “I was absolutely nervous.””
““I’m basically a mystic. And I’m wondering what was that all about? And I am not sure yet. I have to think about it some more," says MacLaine. “The one thing you learned about what occurred at the Oscars is that every instant of life is important. And anything like that can happen to you, driving in a car, leading a seminar, working at your desk and presenting an award."”
“The newly uncovered photographs (see below) not only show Cullinan engaged on his phone shortly before the “La La Land” miscommunication, he’s also photographed mixing two red envelopes backstage alongside Beatty and best actor winner Casey Affleck, who had just exited the stage, which would dispute PWC’s official explanation that Cullinan grabbed the wrong envelope from a “backup pile,” and shows he was likely always in possession of both the best actress envelope (which was given to presenter Warren Beatty) and the best picture envelope, the night’s two final awards.”
“In the exclusive shot by Variety and Shutterstock photographer Andrew H. Walker, Cullinan can be seen on his mobile phone at 9:04 p.m. PST, according to the metadata on Walker’s camera (his Emma Stone tweet was posted at 9:05 p.m. and later deleted). Meanwhile Beatty and Dunaway had taken the stage at 9:03 p.m., putting the PWC executive on social media at the start of Beatty and Dunaway’s presentation.”
“The X-Men star, who is tipped to be nominated at the 2013 ceremony for his turn in Les Miserables, has revealed he harboured a childhood obsession with the Academy's accountants, the elite group of executives from PricewaterhouseCoopers who count the ballots and keep the winners secret until the show.
Jackman's father worked for the Australian arm of the same firm, and the actor admits that during his first trip to the Academy Awards, he turned his camera on the accountants instead of the Hollywood crowd.”

“According to Rhonda, she and Oscar-winner Nicole attended the same acting school back in the day and at one point shared the same red, curly hairstyle.
“[Nicole’s] hair used to be like this,” she told Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby while running her hand through her locks.
Intrigued, British-born Charlotte asked what the Big Little Lies star was like in real life.
“Beautiful,” Rhonda responded without hesitation.
But when pressed by Charlotte to reveal if the 52-year-old was a ‘lovely person’ or not, Rhonda pretended to shrug off the question for a moment before spilling the beans.”
“Baz Lurhman’s 2008 film Australia left much to be desired, Rhonda was able to reveal, despite not being attached to the project.
“She was doing the movie Australia… [And] she used to complain about the blowflies and the cows mooing,” the leggy actor/dancer/singer claimed with an eye roll.
“‘Someone make those cows stop mooing’,” she drawled by way of mimicking Nic.
“So she’s a flat-out diva?” ex-AFL player Dale Thomas stated prompting Rhonda to nod in agreement.
“She’s flat out,” she confirmed.”
“"Have a rest buddy, have a rest," Armstrong said of Kidman's career renaissance.
But it was then things got really juicy as she began to recount the night Kidman was nominated for the best actress award for her turn in Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge against Armstrong's appearance in the acclaimed Australian film Lantana.
"I say that as a joke but when we went up against each other for the AFI Awards it was Moulin Rouge against Lantana," Armstrong explained.
"We were so waiting for Moulin Rouge to win everything and then we won for Sea Change first."
Russell Crowe, who was at the peak of his fame back in 2001 for his turns in Gladiator and A Beautiful Mind, had deigned to appear at the AFI Awards that year to present the best actress award. He is also close to Kidman.
"Russell Crowe said I am here to announce best actress, there's four really wonderful ladies, I've got a bit bias going on, so I have come all this way to announce best actress," Armstrong said.
"Nicole was all up getting ready and he said best actress and he said my name."
According to Armstrong there was quite a bit of commotion in the corner of the room where Kidman was sitting, and she later found out the reason.
"Vince (Colosimo) or Anthony LaPaglia came up and said she had left the room," Armstrong said.”

“The actor Nicole Kidman and her country musician husband, Keith Urban, registered their joint US-based limited liability company as a foreign entity in the Bahamas in March 2015. Leaked documents show their aim was to secure “ownership of interests in real property” in the tax haven using a portion of their wealth.
If the celebrity couple were to buy and later sell a property on the island, they would be subject to taxation on any increase in its value. Were they to do so as a Bahamian entity, they would face individual levels of US tax on the rise – anything up to 39.6%.
By contrast, setting up a US-based limited liability company and registering it in the Bahamas as they did would allow them to treat the increase in price as capital gains. That way, they would only pay an effective rate of 23.8%.
A spokesman for Kidman and Urban said tax was irrelevant to the way they structured their affairs. The registering of the US company in the Bahamas was solely to comply with local laws and “to hold Bahamian property and protect their family’s privacy. The company is taxed under US law and no special tax advantages accrue to them or the company. They are taxed as if they owned the property directly.””

“Van Sant, whose deadpan way with a story is almost Warholian, recalls, “She got my number somewhere. I don’t know if it was hard to find it or not, but she just called me and said hi. She phoned right when Meg Ryan dropped out of the movie, which involved her knowing inside information. Our second choice was Patricia Arquette, and we even had a third choice, Jennifer Jason Leigh. Nicole was somewhere on the list. I had met her a couple of times. When she called she told me that she knew she wasn’t on the top of my list, and I tried to kind of say, ‘Well, I don’t know about that . . . ’ But she just cut me off and said, ‘Look, you don’t have to pretend that I am.’ I said, ‘O.K.,’ and then she said, ‘But listen, I’m destined to play this part.’ That worked really well with me because I believe in destiny.””
“NICOLE Kidman wants to talk about her pushiness. Her alleged pushiness, that is. Recent articles have suggested she as good as bullied fellow Australian Jane Campion into giving her the plum part of Isabel Archer in Portrait Of A La Back in 1995, the press suggested she goaded director Gus Van Sant into casting her as the career-vaulting weatherwoman Suzanne Stone in To Die For.”
“Kidman says her relationship with Campion was often fraught. "I think Jane disliked me, or there was a sort of frustration with me at the beginning. I was overawed, and a director of that stature doesn't want to be put on a pedestal. After we went through a whole audition process, and she told me she didn't know if she wanted me to do the role, I got angry. I got upset, too," Jane said, `I really made a mistake; you're going to have to audition'. I admired her for being so blatant about it. I suppose that's when we knew we could work together."
Campion says: "I told Nicole she had to earn the role. Originally, I had said yes, then I got cold feet. I couldn't go into two years of work with an actress I wasn't sure was the right person. She was devastated. She was a little bit in awe of me before then, and then she just thought I was disgusting, completely despicable. And she just got very straight. Nicole's quite shy, but when she's angry she's very direct. I was going, `This is really good, the way you're talking to me now.' This put us on a strong footing."”

“When I interviewed Nicole Kidman in 2008, she recounted coming to America for the first time and meeting Beatty for the role of Tess Trueheart in Dick Tracy. "He said, 'No, you're too young for Dick Tracy,'" Kidman said. "'But I do have somebody you should meet.'" Beatty picked up the phone and called his friend Towne, who was writing Days of Thunder, starring Tom Cruise. The next thing Kidman knew, she was playing a brain surgeon opposite her future husband. "So Warren changed my life."”
“Profiles, interviews, and reviews all note her skill — “capable onscreen of any emotion the director calls for,” as the Herald put it — but they were most obsessed with the hotness, as it were, of the property. Noyce chose her for the role because she had “that purity, a beauty and sexuality and innocence and vulnerability.” The Sun Herald described her as “too feminine to be a schoolgirl, too gangly to be a woman and, oblivious of the brief mini she had on, she sat with her legs crossed the man’s way: right ankle on left knee.” Or, as the (male) writer, Dorian Wild, continued, “Look at her, with those awesomely long legs, and you have some idea what was going through Nabokov’s mind when he sat down to write Lolita: a perfect oval face, the chin proud and defiant and the look in those pale blue eyes that says she won’t be dominated. Not her spirit, anyway.”
The author attempts to get Kidman to talk about her previous boyfriends — including Tom Burlinson, of Man From Snowy River — but she refuses. “I don’t talk about that,” she says, before he raises the question of whether Warren Beatty “fancied her so much that he wanted to move in.” “Ah, the famous question,” she replied. “Sure, I met Warren Beatty. He was very nice to me and gave me some good advice.””

“Nicole Kidman is clarifying the comments she made about Donald Trump‘s presidency.
The 49-year-old actress came under fire after she addressed the 2016 presidential election results in an interview with BBC 2’s Victoria Derbyshire.
“I just say, [Trump‘s] now elected, and we as a country need to support whoever’s the president because that’s what the country’s based on,” the Hawaiian-born actress, who was raised in Australia and has dual citizenship, said.”
“When speaking with the BBC 2, Kidman had said that she tends to stay away from speaking about politics. “I’m always reticent to start commenting politically,” she explained. “I’ve never done it in terms of America or Australia.””

“In an interview with Variety‘s Actors on Actors issue, Crowe revealed to Nicole Kidman that he approached Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and senior advisor, at Hugh Jackman’s 50th birthday party in 2018 in New York. Crowe thought that Kushner would be able to tell him what Ailes — who also acted as an advisor on Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign — was like. ”
““I remember when you were preparing for Roger Ailes, you were compiling all the information about him,” Kidman said. “How did you do that?
“Well, that’s a funny thing,” Crowe said. “Because you tend to take advantage of situations that come up. You were in New York for Hugh’s birthday party, right?”
Kidman confirmed that she was.
“And Ivanka [Trump] came in,” Crowe recalled. “So that gave me the opportunity to have a very long conversation with Ivanka’s husband. And he had a very direct relationship with Roger over their presidential campaign. Phone calls every Sunday. So it gave me that contemporary insight that the book could not give me.”
Kidman responded, “I had no idea.”
“Nobody else was talking to him,” Crowe quipped.”

“The Moulin Rouge star, who first met Crowe in their native Australia, denied any romance on Jay Leno’s chat show, saying: “I’ve never kissed him, no. We have known each other since I was about 19 or 20, and we are very good friends.”
However, Crowe turned the denial on its head when he joked, in another interview: “I think she is pulling your leg. I have actually been in a number of adult situations with Nicole. It gets lonely on the road. “”
“However, while Nicole’s most vivid memory of their first encounter is of the Gladiator star doing a ‘shoey’, she said he has a slightly different recollection of the night.
“Russell drank champagne out of my shoe,”she told the Courier Mail. “But he says, ‘I never did that’. He says, ‘I stood behind you and you didn’t talk to me’.
“So, we have a slightly different way from how we remember meeting.””
