The word starlight puts a taste in my mouth that feels of flashing colors at night in a bright big city, and it makes me want to be alive again.

𝕎𝕠𝕝𝕗 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕝𝕒𝕞𝕓

How I so badly want to be her wolf in sheep’s clothing. I want her to see me in a field, her soft and innocent eyes and pure coat. Her accepting me as one of her own. Not knowing that I am salivating. My teeth ready to pierce her graceful flesh. Ready to infect her with my sin.

At night I sneak tastes. Small scratches adorn her gentle skin. I blame it on the twigs and branches of course. “It could never be me,” I say. I am but an innocent lamb like you. An innocent lamb who would rip open your rib cage and devour everything inside, like the starving feral animal I am. An innocent lamb who wants to hold your beating heart in my hands while you naively trust me not to consume it. To swallow it whole. To make us become one. The way you trust me with your organs and bones. You must know I’m just an impure wolf by now.

And when I finally reveal myself in our pasture one night, when I can finally dig my claws into your wrists, ripping out the tendons that make up your slender fingers, when you finally see me, all you do is stare. This empty, dead stare. You know that you’re dead, for death is staring at you and kissing your neck. Death is saying “I kill and consume. Here I am. I’ve been the wolf in your woods and I want you to be afraid.”

You reply with a smile “You are the prettiest wolf I have ever seen.” Even at this moment, when I am weaving my fingers through your delicate skin, you still adore me as you did when you thought I was a lamb.

And with that, I am pure once again.
