It’s easy to get caught up in discourse so I want to remind my fellow transmascs that there are allies that love and support us! Everyone I’ve described transandrophobia theory to in person, including a couple queer cis women, have agreed that it’s a serious issue that needs to be integrated into feminism. I know several transfems in my life who support our theorizing and talk about our struggles as well. We’re seeing progress and we’ll continue to keep seeing it. I’m out there building spaces for us to be safe and connect with each other and I’m certain I’m not the only one. There are communities out there for you, please find them and surround yourself with people who will accept and uplift you.

Really though, like we've made our cities so uncomfortable even for housed people, just in an effort to hurt the homeless. Parks and beaches close at night so homeless can't sleep there. Loitering is illegal so homeless can't sleep there. No bench at the bus stop because someone might sleep on it. No overnight parking because someone might sleep in the car there.

These laws aren't even beneficial to housed populations of the city, and they purely exist out of a) hatred for the homeless and b) an attempt to make your city look "presentable" to tourists. And it just sucks all-around.

ive been seeing a new wave of transmedicalists lately I think we gotta start being vocal again about how nasty they are. you don't need to take hormones or have surgery to be a trans person. changing your name and pronouns is gender affirming care. wearing new clothes and hair and makeup is part of transitioning too. you dont need to pass to be trans, you don't need to be male or female.

nonbinary, agender, genderfluid, genderqueer people are trans too if that's a label they want to use for themselves. and anyone who says otherwise is a piece of shit. it's not "anti-transitioning" to say so, it's anti-telling other people what to do with their bodies. it's pro-minding your own fucking business and letting people do what they want with their gender and treating them with compassion and enthusiasm

But I much more fancy that we just accept weird people point blank. They don't need to share a diagnosis. They don't need to make themselves smaller just to fit into the world.

one of the weirdest experiences ive had being trans and out so far was when i went to the doctors about hrt and she walked me through the consent form (the one that tells you youre doing irreversible damage to your body and you're a freak) with a pen in her hand like crossing shit out and being like "this isn't true, this is actually completely false, this is totally an exaggeration" and it was stuff like "research on hrt is limited poor and speculative" or "hrt can increase risks of disease" or "testosterone makes you more violent and angry" like idk having it written in a way intended to make you feel like you're making a big mistake is one thing but the fact that the form has like literally proven false info in it and the doctor had to verbally be like sorry this isnt even true its just on there because society hates trans people. is wild

All of my in person sex work clients and the majority of the phone ones were more respectful and less traumatizing than the average Target shopper was when I worked there through six departments in two years

The one TRULY disrespectful and potentially dangerous irl client I've had doing sex work ended up getting his ass beat and getting booted without a refund. At Target, for an entire year, a child employee (16) was forced to hide in the breakroom any time one specific stalker came in looking for her. Management wouldn't ban him.

Just. Thinking about that sex work clients post. Yes, some of them say horrible things. No worse than any retail or call center customer. Ever.

When the pervy guy calls the hotel reservations line jerking off and moaning, my supervisor had a duty to keep him on the line and keep trying to book him even though he just hung up when he came after making her uncomfortable for 20 minutes. Phone sex averages $2/minute and you can hang up on anyone for any reason, they might just get a refund.

Why are sex work customers and clients seen as the inherent slimebags? When they're the ones exercising an understanding of consensual exchange of money and services within specific limitations. Not the multiple people who reached over my register to touch me when I was 18. Or the woman who told me I was everything wrong with the world and I should die bc we were out of soft pretzels when i was also 18.
