THERE’S   A   HIGH   LIKELIHOOD   THAT   HIS   APPEARANCE   MIGHT   NOT   BE   FAVOURED .      following   everything   that’s   transpired   between   their   inextricable   involvement   with   frank   and   billy   (  once  brothers   in   arms ,   now   unstitched   at   the   seams ;   divided   ) ,   curtis   finds   himself   looking   for   a  familiar   face .   not   just   any  ―――  trusted   instincts   tells   him   it   SHOULD   be   madani .   he’s   waiting ,   then   the    quiet   slink   out   of   shadows ,   hands   shoved   in   pockets ,   complete   with   the   clearing   of   his   throat .      ❝      hey .   LONG   TIME ,   right   ?      ❞

she’s alone in her office (or so she thinks ) , it’s after hours , & she’s spending some of the only free time she has flipping through case files , looking for answers . 

madani if you don’t give yourself a break , you’re gonna go mad .

they all say the same thing , especially now , when she’s been pressured time and time again to take some time off . go on a vacation , something ! but with rumor about a change of departments , a massive promotion , she can’t stop now . with dinah madani , there can be no loose ends , especially with the possibility of joining the cia on the horizon . 

so deep in thought and complete concentration , she should have felt the other presence in the dark room , but it’s only when a rather human noise catches her attention , followed by actual words that she grasps at her gun and releases a rather unflattering shout .

“ jesus FUCKING christ , curtis ! ” hand is against heaving chest , gun has been placed back in her holster almost immediately seeing who it was . “ do you have a death wish ? ” she asks , running a hand through her hair , “ because that’s how you die ! the hell are you doing here ? ”

he is sure that very sentiments has crossed the minds of many, if not all, of benoit blanc’s companions over the years. they had this look about them once he got started on his chatter, spilling out information regarding the case as well as remarks that appeared to be useless; he knew he was losing his audience then. still, they remained quiet and listened politely. they never voiced the thing that their eyes were screaming. yet she had done just that. 

and so his talking ceased. there’s a light frown on his brow, a look of disappointment in his eyes. ❛   well, that’s a rather rude thing to say.  ❜  he didn’t much care for that brand of bluntness.  ❛  i was merely tryna help. you see, my method requires the voicing of my thoughts  –––  it’s in order to better gather them.  ❜   he is not sure if she will care much for his method either. 

as she’s thumbing through the file on hand , dozens of other folders & files sprawled across the top of her desk , dinah rolls her eyes and focuses on him with a look that could certainly kill — but only for a moment . her eyes are on the file again , scanning the words printed against the thick pages . 

“  if i tell you i’m sorry , will you actually shut up then ?  ” this time , there’s a hint of a chuckle behind her tone , despite the frustration against her face . “  alright , so i guess that was un-called for , and i guess i’m sorry , but it’s hard to read with you rattling off . sometimes i think you’re just trying to sabotage me .  ” a joke , punctuated with a quick wink .
