Part of why Hoyt often chose The Mad Scientist was because there was very little chance he'd run into anyone he was avoiding. It was more upscale and trendy in a way that wasn't as charming as Last Call was, and far more classy than the dive bar. He was confident that he could just relax - until he noticed familiar brunette hair with a laugh he knew all too well. Excusing himself from his company, he interrupted the circle of friends she was with, grabbing her elbow in a far more intimate way than he deserved.

Maybe this was a stupid idea - but Narcissa was not known for smart ideas when it came to Kai. All the same, seeing him and the effort he was putting in to try to catch her attention - she had no work assignment to distract her from him. She was chewing on her lower lip, and it hurt like hell, but she couldn't stop herself from pulling the small strips of skin off.

"Hey," her entire face lit up when she saw him walking towards her, suddenly feeling shy as if they didn't have years worth of history between them. "I wasn't sure if you'd show up - it was a weirdly last minute invitation from me. I just liked this band and thought maybe you wouldn't mind keeping me company."

Everything with Wren just felt... better. Killian finally felt like he could relax and let his guard down, and celebrating holidays didn't feel as foreign. He had explained when he first met Wren that he'd never celebrated any "pagan" holidays so this winter had been extra special since they were a couple now.

He had trouble sleeping from the overflowing excitement he'd been feeling lately, and found himself rearranging things in their spare bedroom when he heard Wren behind him. "Maybe you were right - we might need new apartment." There were knickknacks strewn across the room, between the Christmas presents and their already quite large collection of Little Things, Killian thought they actually could benefit from a little more space. "Is it morning, or still super late? Either way, we could probably go out and find somewhere to eat if you wanted."
