Within the confines of the elders' quarters, Neytiri was in the process of giving life to you. Pacing frantically, Jake struggled to check his emotions as he awaited the birth of his third child. His two sons, Neteyam and Lo'ak, were being watched by other members of the clan. Though it was the middle of the night, far into the hours of eclipse, adrenaline kept Jake wide awake.
Neteyam and Lo'ak had both been quick births. However, tonight, Jake's mind raced as he noted how much longer you were taking.
Was everything okay? Was there a complication? Was Neytiri alright?
It took all of his strength not to burst into the tent. He'd already interrupted the elders four previous times. He knew that--should he make it a fifth--that they would be far from pleased with him.
As he tried to control his breathing, he looked down at his hands, dusting them at his sides.
Were his hands clean enough to hold you? What if he infected you with something and got you sick?
Frowning, Jake shook his head. He'd already done this twice before. Why was he so nervous with this one? What was different? Searching his mind for an explanation, he couldn't help falling into a cycle of affectionate thoughts.
What would you be like? Would he have another son to accompany his two others?
Relaxing a bit, Jake chuckled to himself as he envisioned three rowdy boys padding through the forest. Then, looking down at his hands, he finally made up his mind.
"Yeah, I should go wash up," he whispered to himself.
As he prepared to leave, a faint jakesully caused him to halt his movements. Turning around, he was met with the sight of Mo'at, holding the entrance beads back with one hand.
After a moment's silence, Jake finally spoke. "Mo'at?" Jake asked breathlessly.
"It is time," she replied, before nodding towards the inside of the tent, "Come."
For a moment, Jake stared at her, mouth agape and eyes wide. Then, swallowing thickly, he brushed his hands over his torso before sucking in a breath. With a small smile, Mo'at waited for Jake to approach the entrance before turning around and walking inside.
As Jake's heart pounded in his ears, he pulled the beads aside before stepping into the fire-lit quarters. It took a moment for his eyes to adjust--for he'd been relying on the bioluminescent lighting of the forest outside. Once they did, he spotted Neytiri's limp figure. Eyes closed, she was taking deep breaths as exhaustion crossed her expression. Moving quickly, Jake kneeled by her side, cupping her face in the process.
"Baby?" he whispered, rubbing a thumb over her cheek.
"Let her rest, Jakesully," Mo'at instructed, "She has just been relieved of the burden of birthing your daughter."
"I kno--" Jake spun around, eyebrows creased as his mouth fell agape. "Daughter?"
Mo'at raised her eyebrows. "Yes," she answered, "Eywa has blessed you with a daughter."
Sticking her hand out, Mo'at gestured towards two other elders. They were two women, both sitting on the floor, backs to him. After standing up, moving at a careful pace, Jake stepped towards the women. Feeling his presence behind them, one of them glanced back, meeting his gaze before scooting to the side. As she did so, he was finally given a view of you, his daughter.
Your small body was lying on a weaved blanket. Small, nearly inconceivable, noises were coming from your tiny lips. Instantly, Jake was taken back to the births of his two sons. Both boys had been loud babies, crying as soon as they'd reached the world.
But you, you were quiet. Your coos grew softer as your legs kicked out. Then, reaching out, your small hands grew agitated--reaching out for a purpose that was unknown to you.
Jake, however, was fully aware of that purpose. An aching paternal instinct fueled his heart with a fierce protectiveness that had never been so strong before.
Your eyes were closed. You had entered the world only minutes before. And yet, your newborn instincts could already recognize someone of your own blood. The small fibers in your body felt his presence and knew to reach out for him.
"Oh my," he breathed.
Gingerly, the woman sitting closest to him scooped you up. Jake had little time to register the moment before you were being handed to him. Sucking in a breath, Jake reached his hands out, cupping your back and head.
Quickly realizing this was an awkward grip, he readjusted himself to cradle you. Leaning back slightly, he released his breath as he tucked your head into the crook of his arm. Though he was capable of supporting you with one arm--given that you were just that small--he tucked his other arm beneath you for extra security.
Daughter, his mind echoed.
For a long moment, he remained silent as he gazed down at you. He hadn't realized that his mouth had fallen agape until his throat grew dry. Closing his mouth, he forced a swallow before nearly panicking as your eyes popped open.
Jake blinked, feeling his heart race as he held your gaze for the very first time. However, as your fresh gaze morphed from sudden-alertness to curiosity, Jake's demeanor softened, as well.
After releasing a long exhale, he finally broke the silence. "Wow," he spoke breathlessly, feeling a small smile tug at his lips, "Hey, baby girl. There you are."
"Were you expecting another son?" Mo'at asked, raising an eyebrow as a smile tugged at her lips.
"I don't know what I was expecting," Jake answered distractedly, never ripping his gaze from you, "but this . . . God, this exceeds everything. Every expectation I ever had. She exceeds everything."
As a small whimper escaped your lips, Jake frowned, instinctively searching your body.
"She's uncomfortable," Mo'at explained as Jake gently bounced you, "Fresh out of the womb, her body temperature is still warm. We must bathe her now."
"Let me," Jake spoke up, a little too harshly.
The women grew silent, staring at him. Jake's gaze shifted between the three of them before correcting himself.
"I mean . . . I never got to bathe my sons. It would be greatly appreciated if you would do me the honor of allowing me to bathe my firstborn daughter."
The two women looked to Mo'at. Lips pressed together, Mo'at scrutinized Jake's possessive grip on your small frame. After a few more moments of silence, she released a sigh before nodding once.
"Very well," she agreed, "but I will instruct you on how to conduct this properly first."
. *. ⋆
"Okay," Jake breathed, gently lying your body against the carefully-arranged leaves, "Alright."
Releasing his grip from behind your head, Jake began arranging the bathing supplies. In a militant manner, he repeated Mo'at's steps within his mind.
However, after a few minutes of feeling the absence of his hands from your body, a small whimper escaped your lips. Immediately, Jake turned his attention from the soap and ointment, focusing his sharp gaze on you.
"Hm?" he hummed, reaching out to take your small hands between his pointer and thumb fingers, "Hey . . . hey, baby. Easy, sweetheart, I'm here. I have you."
Upon feeling his touch, your whimpers dissolved. A smile tugged at Jake's lips as he caught on to your desire to remain close to him.
"Yeah," he whispered, nodding slightly, "I've got you."
Leaning down, he placed a light kiss on your forehead. Then, turning his attention back to the soap and ointment, he continued to organize them, keeping a loose grip on one of your hands as he did so.
When he was satisfied, he released a breath before giving you his full attention, once again. Turning to face you, he returned his grip to both of your hands. He rubbed his thumbs over your skin as he spoke in a hushed tone.
"Okay, baby girl," he began, "you wanna do me a favor and make this easy for me? It'll be better for the both of us in the long run."
Cooing softly, you held his gaze before tugging your hands from his grip. Hands outward, you reached for his face.
A tender smile pulled at his lips as a fond expression crossed his face. Leaning down, he allowed your hands to hover over his cheekbones. Then, closing the distance, he gently pressed his forehead against yours.
A delighted coo left your lips, before a giggle followed it. Jake, who had temporarily closed his eyes, snapped them open. Leaning back, he gave himself a full view of your tiny face. A smile danced on your lips as you giggled up at him.
Shaking his head, he placed two kisses on your forehead. He followed them with two kisses on your cheek.
"You're so beautiful. You're such a--"
He interrupted himself, placing two kisses on your stomach, eliciting giggles from you. "Such a pretty girl," he finished.
As you quieted, he kept his gaze trained on you. "Alright," he rasped, gently wrapping his hands around you, "Let's do this."
Carefully lifting you, he positioned you over a carefully carved bathtub, which was filled with soft shrubs and lukewarm water. A soft pillow, which had been folded together from a leaf, laid at the edge of the tub---giving cushion for your head to rest on above the water. Gingerly, he lowered you into the water, holding his breath as he awaited your reaction. To his relief, the slight change in environment didn't seem to disturb you.
Puffing his cheeks out, he released a breath. "Okay . . ." he whispered, trying to bury his apprehension.
He knew from experience that his babies could sense his emotions, and the last thing he wanted to do was make you nervous. After releasing you, allowing you to grow accustomed to the water, he grabbed a cloth and the first soap.
Your curious eyes watched his movements, as he dipped the cloth into the water before soaking it with soap. After placing the soap down, he turned his attention back to you. Meeting your eyes, a small smile tugged at his lips.
Tilting his head slightly, he spoke up. "Alright," he whispered, lowering the cloth to your skin, "let's start with this little belly, shall we?"
With a feather-light touch, he moved the cloth in circular motions against your skin. The combination of his motions, and the water, relieved your overheated body. A small smile tugged at your little lips as you cooed up at him, enjoying the sensation.
He smiled, a playful glint evident in his gaze. "There's that smile," he said softly, "Is this what you needed, baby? Feels nice, doesn't it?"
Your legs kicked briefly in response. As he began to move to your arms, gently grabbing your little limbs and washing them, he continued to talk to you.
"Guess it makes sense that you'd be pretty warm and uncomfortable after being in the womb for so long," he whispered, before meeting your eyes, once again, "but you're here now, aren't you? As beautiful as ever."
He moved to your legs, gently running the cloth over your soft skin. “I gotta tell ya, you were quite the little surprise,” he continued, “but that isn’t your doing. That was all on me. It’s like I forgot there was a possibility that I could have a little girl.”
When you eyed him curiously, he chuckled. “Aw, cut your daddy a little slack. After having two sons, it’s easy to just expect another one.”
Finally, he slowly poured water over you, washing the soap off. “But I’m so glad that I got you, baby girl," he finished, a small smile tugging at his lips, "You were the last thing I ever expected and the best thing I could've had."
He remained attentive to your every move as he finished washing you. Then, gripping you carefully, he lifted you from the water and placed you on a large, warm cloth. His eyes grew distant as he spoke.
"Never really thought about having a daughter, but now that I have you, I think I subconsciously wanted one all along."
He releases a breath through his nose before locking eyes with you. A content expression crossed your face as you squirmed slightly.
"Ah!" you said, responding to his string of sentences that you had yet to understand.
He chuckled, nodding his head. "That's right, baby," he replied, leaning closer to you, "I'm talking about you."
Gripping the sides of the towel, he dried your damp body with gentle pats. Then, shifting his gaze for a moment, he grabbed the ointment before placing it next to your little body.
"Okay," he breathed, "The hard part is over. Now, we just gotta lotion you up."
Dipping his fingers into the cup of ointment, he scooped up a generous amount before rubbing it together in his palms.
Watching his movements---with fresh eyes that marveled at everything---you found humor in his actions. A giggle escaped your lips as your eyes zeroed in on his hands, observing him rubbing them together.
Jake paused his actions, glancing down at you. He raised an eyebrow before briefly rubbing his hands together for a moment, testing your reaction. When he paused his actions, another giggle escaped your lips.
He let out a brief chuckle, furrowing his eyebrows in curiosity and slight confusion. Then, he rubbed his hands together again, before pulling them apart and showing you the ointment on his palms, wiggling his fingers to flaunt the liquid texture.
His actions elicited a fresh wave of giggles on your part. Chuckling softly, he glanced at his hands before looking back at you.
"Is that funny, baby girl?" Jake asked, affection seeping through his tone, "Do you like seeing Daddy struggle with pampering you?"
You cooed in response, a small smile still dancing on your lips. He shook his head, smiling softly as he lowered his hands to your body. With a tender touch, his fingers moved in circular motions over your smooth skin, massaging in the moisturizing liquid.
When he went to get another scoop of liquid, he made a show out of his hand movements, exaggerating each rub and wiggling his fingers in the air. To his delight, this sent you into a fit of laughter.
He tilted his head back in laughter before tilting his head. "This is really gettin' you goin', isn't it?" he asked, "I can't help wondering what you find so amusing about this . . . but I guess it doesn't really matter. If it makes you laugh, I'll do it all night."
Once he finished moisturizing you, he swaddled you in a light blanket, making sure you wouldn't grow too warm. Finally content, he lifted you into his hands and cradled you in his arms.
"There we go," he whispered, adjusting you slightly, "How's that, sweet girl?"
Your eyelids grew heavy as you blinked up at him. Still awestruck by your existence, he leaned down to place a gentle kiss on your forehead before leaning back to take you in. Once he began rocking you, it didn't take long for you to nod off in his arms.
"A daughter," he whispered, shaking his head in disbelief, "A daughter that's all mine."
As he held you, he reflected on what having a little girl would entail---the journey that was ahead. Though Neteyam and Lo'ak were still young, he never had a second thought about who their future partners would be. His mind had never lingered on what teenage girls might find them intriguing during their adolescent years. And yet, as he stared down at you, his little girl, he was overwhelmed with a strong wave of possessiveness as he pictured your adolescent years.
No boy would come near you. No boy would touch you. He would make sure of it.
Jake's mind grew still as he caught himself in the midst of these racing thoughts. This was new territory for him.
You were his little girl. As he thought about how he would go about raising you, his instincts veered from what he'd done with his sons. Of course, he wanted you to be strong, and to know how to defend yourself, but that instinct wasn't at the forefront of his mind---like it was for his sons.
Instead, more than anything, he wanted to . . . shield you. He wanted to hold you close and keep you away from harm. He wanted to see you blissfully pad through the forest and marvel at Eywa's creations, just like your mother. He didn't want to see you fight---not if you didn't have to.
Jake made a vow to himself. He promised to not only protect you, but to remain in tune with your emotional state. He knew that raising his tender baby girl would require different approach---compared to how he was raising his two rowdy boys.
"I'm here for you, baby girl," Jake whispered, brushing a thumb over your cheek, "Always."

Angel of my Heart
Jake Sully x Daughter!Reader
Tumblr media
this is a part of a series of continuation scenarios following part 1 part 2, and part 3. enjoyyyyy xx.
A gentle gust blew against your long, dark hair. Loose strands swept in front of your face, slightly disturbing your view as you gazed at the sky. At the tender hour before eclipse, the sky darkened, gaining a rich pigment that resembled the skin of a salmon. Tucking a few strands behind your ear, you sighed, trying to slow your breathing as your heart rate began to climb.
"This used to be my favorite time of day," you whispered to yourself, lowering your gaze to your feet.
"Y/N?" a voice called, snapping you from your thoughts.
Aonung, walking steadily against the elastic material that led to your family's quarters, gave you a polite smile.
"Aonung," you greeted, a small smile tugging at your lips, "Hi."
As he grew close, your gaze fell to his hands, noticing his careful grip on a small, woven pouch. Curious, you raised your eyes to his when he reached a stop.
"Oel ngati kameie," he spoke deeply, raising his hand to his forehead before motioning outwards, "How are you tonight?"
"Oel ngati kameie," you replied, repeating the motion, "I'm alright. You?"
He shrugged, lowering his gaze. "Alright," he replied before meeting your eyes, once again, "A bit better now, I suppose."
A familiar feeling, one that you only felt in Aonung's presence, made itself known in your stomach. Your smile widened as you broke from his gaze, looking down before eyeing the ocean.
"I--well, my sister, actually," he began, causing you to turn back to him, "wanted to gift you with this. She said something about you losing the first one you had."
Lifting his hands, he handed the woven pouch to you, spiking your curiosity. Acting gently, you loosened the tie and opened the bag. Aonung watched you carefully.
Before reaching in, you peeked up at him. "What is it?" you teased.
When his shoulders relaxed, and a playful smile danced over his lips, your heart swelled. Raising his eyebrows, he gestured to the bag and answered.
"You must open the surprise to find out for yourself."
A giggle escaped your lips as you looked back down. Once your eyes fell on the small object inside, your heart soared.
"Oh," you gasped, reaching inside and lifting the object small out, "Yes I--my anklet! I lost it when . . ."
As you trailed off, Aonung nodded, a silent assurance that you didn't need to explain further.
The woven accessory, soft against your touch, contained various shades of green--ranging from dark forest greens to lighter, leafier greens. At the ends, dainty green beads dangled loosely.
"The colors," you breathed, turning it over in your hands, "they remind me so much of--"
"The forest," Aonung finished, making you look up and nod, "That was done intentionally."
For a moment, you stared at him silently. Under your gaze, he shifted slightly, looking away before speaking again. "Well, she hopes you like it."
Another smile, wider this time, pulled at your lips. "I do," you replied, glancing down at the gift in awe, "I really do."
Upon hearing your words, Aonung peeked back down at you, his lips briefly turning upwards. "She will be glad to hear it."
"Give her this for me."
Aonung barely had time to face you before you closed your arms around his waist. His eyes widened as he stepped back once, balancing himself as you embraced him. For a moment, his arms hovered in the air, unsure of how to react to your sudden act of affection. However, as he looked down, taking in the sight of your head resting against his chest, he felt something shift internally.
Releasing a breath, he carefully wrapped an arm around your back and placed his other hand on your head.
"Very glad that you like it," he spoke lowly, preparing to rest his head over yours.
However, he halted his actions as his eyes fell on Jake, who had suddenly appeared from behind the hut. Jake, who had initially been looking down, raised his head before freezing. Their eyes met for a split second before Aonung released you, moving as though you'd burned him.
Taking your hands, Aonung patted the anklet a couple of times. "You keep this. My father needs me. I must be going."
Slightly startled, but nonetheless grateful, you nodded gently before sending him a brief smile. The boy lowered his gaze and hurried in the opposite direction, accelerating his pace to a slight jog.
Jake, who had since snapped from his brief state of shock, narrowed his eyes as he watched Aonung flee from your side. Then, after taking a few steps forward, keeping his eyes on the teenage boy, he rested a gentle hand on your shoulder.
When you jumped, Jake snapped his gaze down to you.
"Oh, I'm sorry," he breathed, placing his other hand on your shoulder and squeezing gently, "I'm sorry, sweetheart."
"It's okay," you answered, chuckling dryly as you looked up, "I'm sorry. It's me. I'm just so--"
"Hey," Jake cut in, shaking his head as he turned you, "It's not you. It's never you, alright?"
Sighing, you nodded, fiddling with the anklet in your grasp. A smile ghosted his lips as he cupped your chin for a moment before releasing you. "What did Aonung want?"
"Oh!" you responded, as your lips turned upwards, "Look! You know how I lost my anklet? Tsireya made another one for me!"
Jake's heart swelled at your visible excitement. "Really? Is this it?" he asked, holding his hand out for you to place it in, "Huh, lots of green."
"For the forest," you replied, turning it over in his hand, "See, even the beads match."
Jake nodded before glancing back in the direction where Aonung disappeared. Unable to withhold his burning question, he spoke again.
"And Tsireya couldn't deliver it to you herself?"
"She probably got caught up helping her mom," you answered, gently taking the anklet from his hand, "Besides, I haven't seen Aonung in a minute. It was nice to have a run in with him."
Jake's eyes still gazed past you. "Uh huh."
Finally catching where his mind was at, you looked up at your father. Then, feeling a subtle strike of delinquency, you tucked the anklet between your upper lip and nose. Frowning up, you pursed your lips and crossed your arms.
"Are you gonna threaten Aonung for acknowledging my existence?"
This broke Jake from his thoughts. After his eyes landed on you, he looked you up and down, taking in your comical pose before a smirk tugged on his lips.
"Not unless you want me to," he answered.
When your face fell, the anklet fell from your lips. Jake caught it before it landed, chuckling as he straightened back up. "Come on," he said, nodding towards the hut, "I'll knot this for you."
Pouting teasingly, you edged your way towards the hut. Jake, who had looked out at the water for a moment, did a double-take when he glanced at you. Narrowing his eyes playfully, he reached out, growling threateningly as you dodged his grasp and ran inside. You let out a minor yelp as you ran, making Jake tilt his head back with a laugh as he followed you inside.
"Oh, and for the record," Jake spoke up, settling himself on the floor, "A hug is more than acknowledging someone's existence."
"It wasn't for him," you countered, sitting across from him, "It was for Tsireya. I just asked him to pass it to her."
Raising an eyebrow, Jake didn't bother to hide the skepticism in his eyes. Releasing a sigh, you shook your head before breaking your gaze from his.
"It was harmless, Daddy. I swear it."
Relaxing his face, Jake glanced out the hut one last time, before turning his attention back to you. "Alright, sweetheart," he breathed.
When you didn't respond, he leaned forward, placing a hand over your knee. "Alright," he emphasized, with a tilt of his head.
Looking up, you connected your eyes with his and gave him a gentle smile. He flashed one in return before leaning back.
"Okay," he said, patting his lap, "Which ankle do you want? Same as last time?"
"Mhm," you hummed, "Right one please."
When you lifted your right leg, he took your ankle and placed it on his thigh. Then, handling the anklet with gentle hands, he wrapped it just above your foot and began knotting it. For a moment, you watched him in silence. Then, as the hut suddenly grew darker, your head snapped towards the opening. Outside the wide arch, you had a slight view of the eclipsing sun.
Jake glanced up, finishing his last knot as he watched you carefully. He didn't miss perturbed expression that crossed your face. Finishing with one last pull, he patted your ankle.
"Good to go," he said, grabbing your attention.
When you looked down at your ankle, a small smile pulled at your lips. "Thanks, Dad," you whispered, pulling your foot close.
He watched you for a moment--watched as you tucked your knees to your chest, wrapped your arms around your calves, and placed your chin between your knees. He began to reach out, but stopped himself as he decided on another course of action.
As he stood up, your eyes followed his movements, curiosity overtaking your gaze. He smiled briefly, nodding towards the doorway. Once he sat back down, facing the outside of the hut, his hand motioned you over.
With a quick jump, you raised yourself to a squat before straightening up and walking up to him. However, rather than sitting next to him, you settled yourself behind him, wrapping your arms around his neck and resting your chin on his shoulder. Jake released a breathy chuckle, placing his hands over your forearms and pecking your temple.
"Y/N."
"Mm?"
"You remember what I told you? About letting me know when things are bothering you?"
Tucking your head down, you nodded. "Mhm."
Sensing your hesitance to open up, Jake released a small breath. Shifting his gaze from you, he stared at the sky, deciding it was time to be more direct. "Tell me about the eclipse."
You were quiet for a moment, before a dry chuckle escaped your lips. "You catch everything, don't you, Dad?"
His hand reclaimed its place on your forearm. Turning his head, he spoke closely to you. "Always," he replied, "You're my little girl. It's my job."
As his words lingered in the air, your mind wandered back to the moments before your first death. Being sprawled out on the rock, the blood running down your chest, the devastation in your father's tearful eyes--all things that made your chest constrict.
Recognizing the shift in your mental state, Jake immediately unwrapped your arms from his neck. "C'mere," he instructed softly, pulling you around him, "Let's switch."
Once he plopped you onto his lap, he wrapped his arms around your biceps, engulfing you completely. Closing your eyes, you took a moment to enjoy the feeling of being held. His arms, muscular signs of security, anchored your swirling mind. Then, after a long moment, and a long breath release, you reopened your eyes.
"It was the last thing," you whispered, making Jake tilt his head to get a glimpse of your face.
"What was the last thing?" he asked, rubbing a thumb over your arm.
"Just like your voice was the last thing I heard, the eclipse was the last thing I saw," you whispered, closing your eyes and lowering your head, "It haunts me every time I see it."
Jake's ears folded back as he released a small breath, his mind tortured by the agonizing vision of your dying expression. Then, pulling you closer, he began placing multiple kisses on your head--moving from your hair to your temple to your ear to your cheek. After running a brief hand over your head, before wrapping it back around you, he prepared to respond. However, you spoke up before he could.
"It used to be my favorite time of day--eclipse," you continued, shaking your head as your gaze remained low, "but now . . . every time I see the sun disappear . . . I can't escape it--the unease, the fear, the flashbacks. Every time I think I'm moving past it, eclipse comes and reopens the wound, and it's fresh in my mind every night."
As Jake listened, he quickly made the connection between your ongoing nightmares and eclipse.
If eclipse brings the memories back in a fresh wave every night . . . Jake thought to himself, No wonder she's dealing with these night terrors.
"Every time the sun disappears, I feel as though my return to the Great Mother is among us," you finished, shivering in his arms.
Though he knew your chill wasn't from coldness, for a brief moment, Jake subconsciously rubbed his hands over your arms before wrapping them around you again. Looking up, you stared out to the horizon. Jake processed your words and shook his head, closing his eyes as a searing pain shot through his heart.
"Baby girl," he began, speaking in a hushed voice, "I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am. For all of this. It was my fault. It was my job to keep you safe--it still is--and to make sure that nothing in this world hurts you. I'll . . . I'll never forgive myself for failing you the first time around."
Frowning, you turned to face him, cupping his cheek with your smaller hand. "Daddy . . . Daddy," you called, making him open his eyes to look at you, "Not once have you ever failed me. What happened that night was beyond your control. Quaritch was beyond your control. The sky people returning was beyond your control. In those last moments, you and I--" You paused, feeling yourself grow choked up.
Jake's eyebrows creased as his gentle eyes held your gaze. Though he knew that you were the one trying to offer him words of comfort, he could never disregard his paternal instinct to console you anytime you grew dewy-eyed.
Cupping your cheek, he began rubbing his thumb over your prominent cheekbone. However, you quickly removed his large hand from your skin, holding it with both of yours.
Your voice came out as a pained whimper, but you forced yourself to get the words out. "You and I both knew what was happening--what was going to happen," you said, making Jake blow a breath out of his nose and lower his head briefly, "B-But you--"
Cupping your father's cheeks, you forced him to meet your eyes, once again--an action he'd done with you countless times. When he did, you pressed your palm against his chest. "When that realization hit me, and I grew panicked, you gave me peace," you continued, "Because of you, I wasn't afraid to let go. You had the strength to make sure that I wouldn't be afraid to die."
Jake shook his head, eyes filling with tears as he let out a sob. He cupped both of your cheeks before pulling you into his chest, folding his arms around you.
"My sweet girl," he choked, squeezing you against him and running a shaky hand over your hair, "God . . . . God, my sweet angel."
"P-Please don't call yourself a failure, Daddy," you whimpered, squeezing your eyes shut as you pressed into his skin, "It hurts me because you're my heart, and I don't blame you for any of this." A small sob escaped your lips now, though you tried to hold it back. "I'm just so frightened now. Not of dying, or joining the Great Mother, but frightened of losing you again."
Jake let out another breath, wishing only to squeeze you tighter, but restraining himself--knowing that he had the potential to hurt you.
"We share the same fear, baby," he answered, placing his chin over your head, "I can't lose you either. Never again."
Then, after a moment spent in thought, he tilted his head down, placing the pads of three of his fingers against your chin and gently coaxing your head up. When you felt his tender touch, you instantly obeyed his silent command, connecting your eyes with his.
"And you and I--we're many things to each other. I'm many things to you. But 'your heart'?" Jake continued, shaking his head, "I can't . . . I can't let you give me that title. I, alone, don't deserve a title so generous."
Pressing your lips together, you leaned up, taking his hand from your chin and holding it. "Who wanted to take me back home? Who wanted to give it a try, even though I had already joined the Great Mother?"
The tension in his face eased, though the solemnity never left his eyes. His lack of answer was enough for you. Smiling slightly, you placed his hand over your heart.
"It's beating because you demanded it to beat again. You are my heart, Daddy. It is decided."
The two of you held each others' gazes for a long moment. Then, after releasing a breath from his nose, a smile began to tug at Jake's lips. Cupping both sides of your head, he pulled you close and kissed your forehead. However, rather than pulling away, he closed his eyes and pressed his forehead against yours. You mirrored him, closing your eyes, as well.
After a long moment of comfortable silence, you gathered the courage to share another burden with your father--one that you'd been holding for days.
"Daddy?" you whispered, making him open his eyes.
"Hm?" he hummed, focusing his gaze on you.
Your eyes remained closed as you spoke. "Can I tell you something else?"
A minuscule spark of joy spread through him. Nothing made him happier than seeing you let your walls down to him. "Anything that's on your mind, sweet girl."
Pulling back, you opened your eyes. However, you kept your gaze low, focusing on Jake's necklace, rather than meeting his eyes.
"I'm afraid I've brought our family shame."
Jake frowned. "What?" he breathed, beginning to shake his head, "No. No, no, sweetheart, you haven't. What happened might have been beyond my control, but it sure as hell wasn't in your control, either."
"That's not what I mean," you replied, looking away briefly.
Jake's shoulders sunk as his frown eased. "Oh," he spoke, "Then, how do you mean?"
You sighed, feeling embarrassment creep up your spine, swirling around your chest and stomach. "I've lost my connection to the water."
Jake blinked at you. His lack of response made you fumble into a series of excuses. "I-It's just--ever since--I just look at the water and I can't bring myself to--I mean, I haven't swam properly since it all--"
Jake reached out, gently cupping the back of your neck. "Y/N," Jake hushed you, "Y/N."
For a brief moment, he placed a finger on your lips, silencing your rambles. Once you fell silent, receiving the message, he adjusted his hands to hold your chin, gripping it between his thumb and forefinger.
"Sweetheart," he began, looking away briefly as a chuckle pushed its way through his lips, "I swear, I'm gonna get this through that thick skull of yours, if it's the last thing I do."
Your lips parted as you absorbed his words. Jake looked back at you, his pointer gently rubbing against the skin beneath your chin.
"None of this is on you. Absolutely none of it. You got that?" he continued, waiting for you to nod.
When you did, his gaze remained unmoving.
"You sure?" he asked, raising his eyebrows and tilting his head, "I know you can be as stubborn as your mother, sometimes."
"I got it," you answered meekly, keeping your gaze down.
"That was pathetic," he replied flatly, briefly using his finger to tickle the skin beneath your chin, "C'mon, a little more feeling."
A giggle spilled from your lips as you pulled away, gripping the hand that held your chin.
"I got it," you replied, louder this time as you met his eyes with raised eyebrows.
"You gonna stop worryin' that pretty little head of yours about it?"
Embarrassment crossed your face. Leaning down, you shoved your face into his chest. "Yes," you mumbled, feeling him shake as he chuckled.
"Good," Jake answered, a smirk fading from his lips, "Now--hey, look at me."
Jake tried to lean you back up, but you dodged his hand. Then, rolling over, you laid your head against his left thigh, bending your knees and placing your feet down to support yourself. Smiling softly, Jake reached down and cupped your chin with both hands, rubbing his thumbs over your skin.
"Between you and the water," he continued, "you're just dealing with some PTSD."
When your face fell, he released a sigh. "I'm afraid things like this are inevitable, baby. They're gonna happen. But, we can always find ways around them. And, you and I, we're gonna deal with it together. Alright?"
As you looked into his eyes, relief seeped into your veins. Without saying a word, he communicated your safeness with him. With his eyes, he let you know that, even if the Metkayina had thoughts on your temporary disconnect with the water, he would be the first to jump in front of you, guarding every blow before it could touch you.
Nodding your head, you released a breath. "Thanks, Daddy," you whispered, reaching up to grip one of his wrists, "Truly. I can't thank you enough for always being . . . here. For always listening. For caring."
He shook his head. "I don't like that you're thanking me for doing the bare minimum," he answered matter-of-factly, "You're mine, and I'll always be here, whether you like it or not."
"Even if you have to go off, and be Toruk Makto again?"
Jake removed a loose strand of hair from your forehead. Then, he leaned in slightly, raising his eyebrows in the process. "Being your heart is more important to me than being Toruk Makto, angel."
Giving him a close-lipped smile and shutting your eyes, you said nothing in response--fulfilled by his weighted words.
As endeared as Jake was--with your head lying in his lap--he wanted you closer. "C'mere," he rasped, patting his thighs.
Opening your eyes, you gave him a confused look. "I'm here."
"Well, I can't hold you from down there," he retorted, raising his eyebrows as you snorted.
"Hold my face," you sassed, closing your eyes again, "I'm comfy."
Jake tilted his head, narrowing his eyes. A mischievous snarl crossed his face. "Is that so?" he asked, his tone a little too sweet for your liking.
Barely having time to open your eyes, he gripped your midsection and yanked you up. Gasping, you broke into a fit of laughter as he closed his arms around you. It was the same position he had you in earlier, however, his grip was much less relenting, this time.
"I said I wanna hold you," he growled, pressing his face against your twitching ear as you laughed, "You gonna make me pull out the old tricks?"
"Old tricks?" you attempted to hiss, "Please."
"Is that a challenge?" he inquired, raising an eyebrow, before leaning in to blow in your ear, "How much're we bettin'?"
Your eyes widened as you tried to lean away. "No!" you hollered, fighting giggles as you tried to distance yourself from him, "No, stop it, Dad! I'm not five anymore!"
"And?"
He shook his head in your neck, making you cackle as your cheeks burned with embarrassment. However, your embarrassment spiked as a large shadow fell over your face, making you open your eyes.
With your head leaned back, you had an upside down view of Tonowari. Gasping, you leaned up, gazing at your lap as your face blazed with fire.
"Apologies," Tonowari spoke up, unable to hold back his chuckles, "I do not mean to intrude."
Jake shook his head, chuckling with him. "You aren't."
Swallowing your pride, you looked up at the Metkayina chief, preparing to greet him properly. "Oel ngati kameie, Olo'eyktan Tonowari."
Jake looked down at you, pride spreading across his face. Tonowari gave you a fond smile as he took a knee. "Oel ngati kameie, young one," he replied, before turning to Jake, "Oel ngati kameie, Jakesully."
"Oel ngati kameie," Jake replied politely.
Tonowari, then, turned to you, once again. "Are you well, my child?"
Your shoulders sunk as the tension within your body eased. "I am . . . as well as I can be."
Jake ran a hand over your hair as Tonowari nodded once. "I understand," he answered, "On behalf of The People, my children, my wife, and myself, we are grateful to have you back with us."
Your heart swelled at his words. Visibly lighting up, you placed a hand on your heart. "Thank you, sir. I am overjoyed to be back with you all. Thank you for continuing to provide our family with sanctuary."
After nodding again, he replied. "You will always have a place here."
Upon hearing his words, your organs warmed, feeling as though a swarm of glowfish were traveling through your veins. Though Jake was always your primary paternal figure, you couldn't help the pleasure you felt in pleasing the chief of the Metkayina--and father to friends you held dear.
"If you don't mind, may I borrow your sempul for a moment?" Tonowari asked, raising his eyebrows in question.
Turning your head, you looked to Jake. Jake met your eyes, smiling softly before nodding towards the hut. "Go on. I'll be there in a minute."
Nodding, you turned to Tonowari before nodding politely. Tonowari nodded, watching with a smile as Jake helped you off of his lap before you walked into the hut. Before you left his sights, however, his eyes fell to the anklet.
Jake and Tonowari stood up before edging away from the hut. As both men walked, they stood tall--each carrying himself regally.
"She likes the gift Aonung made for her?" Tonowari inquired, making Jake turn to him in confusion.
"I thought Tsireya made it."
Tonowari frowned. "Tsireya? No. She's been working on another gift for your 'ite."
"Oh," Jake replied, turning his gaze forward.
Coming to a stop, Tonowari turned to face Jake. "I am here to check on the child's state--on behalf of my mate, as well. She has experienced something beyond our comprehension."
Pressing his lips together, Jake released a breath from his nose. "Yeah. I know."
Reading Jake's emotions, the chief tilted his head. "Is she struggling?"
Jake looked away, closing his eyes for a moment before answering. "Yeah. A lot. There's a lot that she's . . . struggling to bounce back from--which is only natural. Still, though, I hate seeing her in so much pain."
"It has left her troubled?"
"Haunted. Very."
"Mm," Tonowari hummed, "Well, I will allow you to aid her with her recovery, in any way you see fit. However, do not be afraid to come to us--should you seek other methods. Ronal wishes to assist her in any way she can."
Nodding gratefully, Jake answered him. "Thank you. We will definitely keep that in mind."
The two men gripped forearms, acknowledging one another respectfully, before separating.
"Go on," Tonowari said, nodding towards the hut, "I know you are eager to return to her."
Jake scoffed lightheartedly, glancing back, not denying the chief's words.
"Sleep well."
Jake nodded. "You, as well."

thank you queens for the responses I think I'm gonna try getting rid of the underlines and tweaking the way I'm tagging people. hopefully that'll get the website to stop being dumbass <3
hi hotties are all of you that are on the tag list getting tagged? idk how the hell to work this algorithm and I've gotten a few messages saying people aren't getting tagged, even if they are on the list.
does font or the username being underlined have anything to do with it?

“Give her one more day,” Jake whispered, making Neytiri lean back in frustration, “One more day for her to come to us willingly. If she doesn’t, we’ll have an intervention, alright?”
Neytiri glanced back at your sleeping figure, feeling her heart clench, once again. Then, she looked back at Jake.
“One. More. Day,” she agreed hesitantly, “Then, we force her to talk. I cannot stand to see her like this, Jake.”
“I know,” he agreed, “I can’t either.”
The following day came and went. You remained guarded, consistently keeping your distance from the prying eyes of your parents. Eventually, even your brothers took notice of your odd behavior. However, when Neteyam inquired about your state, you snapped at him, before harshly cutting yourself off from him, just as you did with your parents.
At eclipse, you spent a few more minutes with yourself before you'd be required to head home. However, to your annoyance, your peace was interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Y/N?"
Snapping your head around, you were met with your brother's uneasy stare. He stood over you, holding a hand out for you to take.
"What's up?" you asked, unmoving from your spot on the grass.
"Mom needs our help with dinner. She wants you to help me gather a few things before we return home."
Eyeing him carefully, you took note of his agitated tail and downward gaze. He'd only met your eyes for a moment before lowering them again. Though your mind remained suspicious, you couldn't help wondering if he was simply a little guarded after you'd snapped at him earlier. Guilt crept into your chest as you released a sigh. Giving in, you placed your hand in his before allowing him to help you up.
Once you'd connected your hand with his, even after you'd reached a standing position, Neteyam never released his grip on you. As he led you through the forest, you noted his unyielding grip--gentle but firm. Then, you began to notice your surroundings grow more familiar.
"Aren't we getting the supplies first?" you asked.
"Mom hasn't told me what we need yet."
Your suspicion spiked before morphing into alarm. "You told me earlier that Mother wanted us to get the supplies before returning home. Now, you tell me that she never told you what we needed to gather?"
Neteyam clenched his jaw, lowering his gaze to the ground as you entered your family's quarters. Your heart dropped as your mind processed the situation.
"You lied to me," you muttered, unable to hide your disbelief, "Big brother . . . you lied to me!"
Yanking with a quick, isolated force, you attempted to free your hand from his grip. However, Neteyam anticipated your movement, and simply gripped you tighter.
"Where are we going?" you demanded, growing more agitated by the second, "Neteyam!"
"To Mom. I told you."
His clipped tone caused your anxiety to surge. Now, as you repeatedly tugged your arm, you grew frustrated at Neteyam's obvious upper hand in physical strength. However, he didn't move you without difficulty. Using your free hand, you pushed against his arm--all while digging your heels into the woven floor.
At last, when Neteyam managed to haul you to the family room, the foreboding feeling within your chest swelled. Jake and Neytiri, who'd been sitting on the floor talking, immediately looked your way. When you met their gazes, an angry, blazing fire ignited within your stomach.
Panting slightly, you looked up at your brother, eyeing him in betrayal. "How could you?" you asked, a small whine oozing into your tone, "How could you lie to me, big brother?"
Keeping his gaze away from yours, Neteyam walked you into the room, ignoring your physical protests.
Dimly lit by a fire, the thick tension within the atmosphere was unmistakeable. Jake and Neytiri, sitting directly next to one another, kept their eyes trained on you as Neteyam pulled you closer. There was just enough light to cast a few extra shadows on their solemn expressions.
"You didn't give us much choice, Y/N," Jake answered, before pointing to the spot in front of them, "Sit."
The desire to defy him burned through your veins. Glancing back, you looked past Neteyam, eyeing the doorway before turning back to face your father. Jake, of course, saw this and knew where your mind was at. Raising an eyebrow, he dared you to disobey him.
"Take off and I'll take away every privilege you have. No hunting. No going to the village. No leaving home," he stated, before pointing to the spot once more, "I'm not gonna say it again."
Swallowing thickly, you tried to ignore the deep cut that his tone left on your heart. Never before had you been on the receiving end of his disciplinary voice. At least, not you by yourself. There had been plenty of instances when you, and your older brothers, had received a minor scolding from him.
Though you were hurt, you did your best to maintain a straight face, not wanting to give Jake the satisfaction of knowing the effect his tone had caused on you. However, upon seeing his gaze slightly soften with regret, you knew that he'd managed to see through your front.
Jake sighed, closing his eyes before softly adding, "Please, baby."
Lowering your gaze, you kept your eyes trained on the floor before taking a seat. At the corner of your eye, you saw Jake nod at Neteyam, signaling for him to leave. Neteyam lingered for a moment before disappearing from the room, leaving you alone with your parents.
Tensing up, you attempted to mentally prepare yourself for the coming conversation.
"Y/N," Jake began, tone remaining soft, "you already know that we are worried about you. We need you to tell us what's going on."
Part of you wanted to cut him off and spit out the word "nothing", but you knew the wiser.
"You might've convinced yourself into thinking that you can put one over on us, tricking us into thinking you're fine, but I can assure you, we know better," he continued, "You can't hide much from the people who brought you into this world."
Jake's words punctured a small crack in your resolve, but you quickly brushed it off. Your parents were watching you sharply, and you were determined to show no signs of submitting.
Jake leaned forward, uttering the golden question, once more. "What is going on?"
His tone, laced with sympathy, pressed further against your resolve. Needing a quick distraction, you placed your fingers on your beaded bracelet before beginning to fiddle with it.
"Nothing," you replied, confidence evaporating as your voice came out shaky, "I'm fine."
"Y/N," Neytiri rasped.
The pain in her voice caused your throat to constrict. "Do you not trust your parents?" she asked.
The weighted question lingered in the air before guilt exploded in your chest. You leaned forward slightly, nearly convincing yourself that something had physically detonated within your body. Instinctively, Jake and Neytiri leaned forward, as well--ready to catch you should you collapse against them.
Noticing their actions, you immediately pulled back.
Of course that's their play, you thought bitterly, They're gonna try to push me until I break.
Your defiance fought against the guilt, but, under your parents' tender, watchful eyes--so open and ready for your emotions--you couldn't help feeling like a cracked egg, barely holding itself together.
For the first time since arriving, panic began to settle in. Regardless, you swallowed it.
After clearing your throat, you answered her. "Of course, I trust you. I always have."
"Then allow us to bear this burden with you," Neytiri continued softly, ignoring your feeble pretense, "‘Itetsyìp."
As you took a deep breath, you continued to agitate your bracelet as your tail remained mobile. "Why won't you just trust me when I tell you that I'm alright?" you asked, satisfaction trickling into your veins as you turned the question on them, "Do you not trust me?"
"Of course we do," Jake answered, "because you were never one to lie. That's why it's so obvious to us that you're doing so now."
As quickly as your satisfaction appeared, it vanished. Your fiddling, now growing more fraught, was halted by Jake's hand. He covered both of your hands and wrists, stilling your movements as you inhaled sharply.
"So, no. You're not fine."
"You don't--" you began sharply, making him raise his eyebrows.
Taking a breath, you gathered yourself before restarting your sentence. "You have no way of knowing what I'm feeling. You aren't me."
A gentle smile tugged at his lips. "But, I do. Wanna know how I know?" he asked softly, making your heart rate accelerate, "Ever since you were little--even as a baby--you maintained the ability to hold eye contact."
The tightness in your throat, which had temporarily loosened, constricted, once again--this time, with a gruesome vengeance.
"I would hold you against me like this," Jake said, leaning back and pretending to cradle a baby with his arms, "and you never took your eyes off of me."
His fond smile danced against his lips as he reminisced. You began to fiddle with your beads, once again.
"I looked into that baby girl's eyes and I knew that I'd always be able to read them, no matter how hard she tried to keep something from me."
Jake paused for a moment, lowering his hands before looking back at you. "This whole time, you haven't held my gaze for more than a few seconds."
He reached out, gently placing his large hand over your chest. Tensing up, you held your breath before he continued. "But, when I do get a glimpse of those eyes--your eyes--I can see it. I see that pain that you don't think I see. That pain that, for some reason, you don't want us to see. All that pain that you're holding in right here."
Remaining silent, you looked to your right, pointedly avoiding his gaze now. Though you knew Jake was waiting for a response, you kept your lips sealed.
Jake sighed. "How about this?" Jake asked, leaning away and causing your ears to perk up curiously, "We'll make a deal. If you do this successfully, we'll let you go."
In your peripheral vision, you saw Neytiri perk up, as well. After turning to Jake, she tilted her head with a questioning look in her eyes. Placing a gentle hand on his bicep, she caught his eyes, mentally asking what his plan was.
Though Jake said nothing, connecting his gaze with hers was enough to establish an element of trust. Nodding, she leaned back.
Then, Jake reached out, placing a gentle hand on your knee before continuing. "If you can look us straight in the eye--both of us--and tell us that nothing is going on. That everything is alright with you. Then, we'll let you go."
Your chest tightened as you inhaled deeply, blinking away the slight sting in your eyes. He'd hit a nerve, and he knew it too. After all the minutes you'd spent sitting here, you finally felt cornered.
When you didn't respond, Jake tilted his head. Neytiri shifted her gaze from her mate, settling her eyes back on you. Clenching your jaw, you tried to calm your breathing as a frustrated panic began to bubble its way to the surface.
Instantly sensing the change, Jake gently gripped your forearms. "Y/N?" he called softly.
A portion of his hands rested directly above your wrist. Nausea twisted within you as you realized he could feel your racing pulse.
The following silence felt physically painful. You'd been consistently distracting yourself with other elements in the room--the fire, your jewelry, the weaved flooring. However, in that moment, everything seemed to purposefully become uninteresting.
There were no distractions left. All eyes were on you, and there was no way around. Closing your eyes, in a strained whisper, you finally replied to his call.
"Why won't you just let me go?"
Upon hearing your meek response, Jake's shoulders sunk as he released a long breath, glancing at his mate before returning his eyes to you. As you opened your eyes, staring down at your lap, you cursed yourself furiously.
Your inability to meet his request was the confirmation he needed. Jake had succeeded in squeezing a portion of the truth out of you. Though it was indirect, it was enough to let them both know that they'd been right all along. Something was wrong.
At last, with this verification in mind, Jake felt comfortable switching his tactics. This weight was holding your heart hostage, and he needed to aid you in freeing it from your soul.
Nodding slightly, Jake cupped one of your cheeks. "Okay," he whispered, "Okay, baby, look at me."
Their quiet sympathy had cracked your resolve open. It was too late to pull back now. They were making their way in.
On the defense, you shook your head harshly. "No."
"Look at me," Jake repeated, never raising his tone.
"No," you hissed, brushing his hand off.
"Mawey, 'itetsyìp," Neytiri cooed, scooting forward.
"I said no!" you shrieked, yelping as Jake gently gripped your biceps.
"You're okay," he whispered, cupping your cheeks in one last attempt to find your eyes, "Just meet my gaze, baby girl. Please."
Eventually, with hesitant, audible breaths, your eyes met his. Soon after, mountainous feelings of regret, panic, pain, and relief flushed through every organ within your body.
His eyes--the embodiment of acceptance--remained unmoving as they zeroed in on you. His eyebrows, which had been creased together in concern and concentration, relaxed when your eyes met his. His mouth, pulled into a gentle smile, muttered the breaking words.
"You're hiding behind this anger," he whispered, shaking his head, "but you can let go now. Release it here. Just release it right here."
Gently, he took your forearms again, pressing your palms against his chest. Though your lips were squeezed together, a distinguishable sob tore its way through your throat. Then, you inhaled deeply, greedily sucking air through your nose, before exhaling harshly. Your chest rumbled as you constricted with each struggling breath.
Jake's expression grew solemn as he rubbed his thumbs over your skin. "Baby, please," he cooed, "You're gonna hurt yourself."
For a split second, his gaze subconsciously shifted to Neytiri. She caught this, scooting closer and taking your shoulder firmly--silently offering another brace to collapse onto.
Another muffled sob rumbled in your throat, but you forced your lips closed. Blinking frantically, you looked up, shaking your head as your teeth clenched.
"We've got you, baby girl. Come on," he encouraged, "Let it happen."
"Mm, mm," you hummed, shaking your head.
"You're so close, baby, please," he pleaded gently, "You gotta let it out."
You began to see red as an electrifying shock of frustration shot through your body. In that moment, his resolve, so calm and collected compared to your angering one, made you despise him.
As you pushed against him, your shoves grew rougher. He maintained his grip on your forearms--tight enough to keep you seated in place, but loose enough to allow you to move your arms.
Neytiri watched as you shoved Jake, preparing to reach out and stop your movements. However, Jake gripped her arm before she could, shaking his head quickly. She gawked at him for a moment, before pulling back and gripping your shoulder, once again.
"Keep going," he encouraged, "That's it."
"Stop it!" you hollered, beginning to swat weakly at his chest, "Daddy, stop it! Why wouldn't you let me go?"
"You're holding in too much, sweetheart," he replied calmly, barely moving as you grew physical, "I couldn't let it continue."
"But, Daddy, I can't!" you shrieked, finally freeing your sobs as tears fell, "They're gonna kill me!"
Jake's mouth gaped slightly as he finally released a breath.
"There it is," he breathed, keeping his grip on your arms as you spazzed.
You shook your head, beginning to relax your arms. "They're gonna fucking kill me, Daddy," you whimpered, falling slack as you gave in, "I don't know how to make them stop."
Jake nodded, feeling immense relief wash through his veins as he pulled you closer. "Okay, baby, okay," he replied, still breathless from emotional exhaustion, "You come right here and tell me about it, alright?"
Though you shook your head in protest, feebly fighting against him, you allowed him to pull you to his lap. He grabbed your arms and wrapped them around his neck. When you tucked your head into his neck, feeling his necklace brush against your skin, you made one last attempt to withhold your cries.
However, Jake caught this immediately, and gently coaxed your choking over the edge. "Go on," he whispered, "Go on."
Your body's fierce determination to unburden itself pushed through. A deep wail escaped your lips as you submitted to the overpowering grief.
"There it is," Jake guided, squeezing you tighter, "There it is . . . and deep breath--that's it."
Caving, your body intuitively followed his instructions. After gasping for air, another sob ripped through your chest.
"There you go," he whispered, cupping your head, "That's it, baby, that's it."
After speaking incoherently, you released a scream before shoving your face into his neck. "I didn't want this, Daddy!" you hollered.
"I know, sweetheart. Trust me," he answered gently, "But you needed it."
Neteyam and Lo'ak peeked in, having grown alarmed when they heard all the screaming. From the spot where she was holding your back, Neytiri glanced back, sensing the pairs of eyes on them. She shot the boys a warning look, raising her eyebrows threateningly. Immediately receiving the message, they backed away and left.
"You tell me all about it," Jake whispered, pressing a kiss against your temple.

Fear of You, Deep and Blue
Jake x Daughter!Reader
Tumblr media
if you want, you can set the mood by listening to james horner's fourth track on the avatar soundtrack called "the bioluminescence of the night". but anyways, enjoyyyyy <3
"Mom! Mom! Watch!" Lo'ak exclaimed, before charging at the pond, jumping up--balling his limbs to his chest in the process--and splashing into the water.
"Oh!" Neytiri exclaimed, laughing as she leaned away, shielding her hand in front of her face, "Lo'ak!"
"Woo!" Neteyam cheered, following suit as Lo'ak resurfaced from underneath the water.
When Neteyam jumped in, Neytiri laughed as she swam backwards. Her long limbs combed through the water, each movement causing it to ripple around her. She swam a few strokes before her arm connected with a smooth, floating surface. Turning around, she quickly realized that she'd come in contact with a small lily pad. Smiling, she made her way around it before ducking beneath the water's surface.
Neteyam and Lo'ak, who had been heavily occupied with splashing one another, slowed their movements. Neteyam was the first to scan their surroundings--the grand silhouettes of trees, vines, and leaves, the scattered fan lizards gliding above their heads, the gentle sway of overgrown plant tendrils and grass as the breeze agitated them. Neighboring planets gleamed above them within the deep blue, night sky. Though movement was happening, naturally, everything seemed to reach a temporary stillness.
Then, glancing over at the soft, grassy land--adjacent to the pond, which led back to the village--Neteyam released a breath when he spotted you. Occupied by your multicolored beads and strings, you hadn't noticed the sudden silence around you.
"Hey," Lo'ak called, making Neteyam turn to him, "Where's Mom and Dad?"
Just as he asked this, Jake and Neytiri broke from the water's surface, each parent grabbing a son before throwing him in the air. Neteyam and Lo'ak screamed, flinging their limbs wildly. The element of surprise worked against them as they fell back into the water, having no time to brace themselves. Both boys landed recklessly in the water.
Jake and Neytiri laughed, high-fiving before Jake maintained his grip on her hand and pulled it to his lips. As he kissed her knuckles, she smiled, shaking her head at him.
When Neteyam and Lo'ak resurfaced, they both began yelling in protest.
"What was that for?"
"Mom!"
"No fair! You ganged up on us!"
"Not cool!"
The commotion made you look up from your beads, curious to see what had your older brothers screaming so piercingly. When you saw your parents laughing at them as they complained animatedly, you bit back a smile before lowering your head again.
Jake chuckled before turning to check on you. As expected, you hadn't moved from the spot he'd left you at. His gaze softened as his smile fell slightly. Then, after feeling a gentle hand on his arm, he turned to face his mate.
Neytiri's gaze, as soft as his, shifted from him to you. Jake turned his attention back to you as Neytiri swam closer. As she reached Jake, she wrapped her arms around his shoulders. Absentmindedly, his large hands cupped her waist, pulling her closer.
"Ma Jake," she whispered, "There will be a time when this cannot continue."
Jake released a sigh, keeping his eyes on you as he nodded. "I know."
As Lo'ak and Neteyam began tackling each other, once again, Neytiri leaned in, positioning herself closer to Jake's ear.
Jake lowered his gaze, focusing on the luminescent pond floor. "She was just a baby," he continued, "I mean, she still is just a baby, but she couldn't even walk yet."
Guilt flooded his eyes, making Neytiri frown before cupping his cheek. She coaxed him to face her before speaking.
"Ma Jake," she breathed, "You are not to blame. She would have followed you anywhere."
"But I should've been watching her," he whispered, "Our baby girl, she--" He shook his head, closing his eyes before continuing. "She's traumatized by this. She's not gonna wanna go near another body of water again."
Neytiri rubbed his cheekbone with her thumb. Then, after planting a kiss on his skin, she leaned back and looked at you. Jake turned to look, as well, observing you quietly.
A small smile was plastered on your lips as you excitedly finished your last bracelet. Then, looking up, you met the gaze of both your parents, making your smile widen.
"Mommy! Daddy! Come see!"
Unable to help himself, Jake broke into a wide smile, feeling his heart swell at your high-pitched, enthusiastic tone.
Neytiri smiled brightly, tilting her head as she admired you. "Coming, my love!"
Turning back to Jake, she leaned in to speak in his ear. "She is still so young," she whispered, "It is better if we solve this now, rather than later."
Jake pulled back, staring at her for a moment. Neytiri raised her eyebrows, giving him an encouraging look. Then, turning around, Neytiri called to your brothers.
"Neteyam! Lo'ak! Come!"
The boys took one last jab at each other before pulling away. As they walked out of the pond, Neytiri raised herself to a standing position before following them out.
Padding across the forest floor, both brothers ran past you, not before placing a quick hand on your head in the process.
"Straight home!" Neytiri called after them, before kneeling in front of you.
"Mommy!" you called, smiling as she eyed you endearingly.
"Yes, my sweet girl," she replied, running a hand through your long hair, "What do you have for me?"
Raising your hands, you held the ends of a beaded bracelet, which was just long enough to fit around Neytiri's wrist. "A gift!" you answered, eyeing her eagerly for approval.
"Oh, ‘itetsyìp ," she cooed, grabbing your face and pressing her forehead against yours, emitting giggles from you, "It is the most beautiful!"
As Neytiri held out her wrist, allowing you to tie the bracelet on, the sound of rippling water caused you to look up. Jake stepped out of the water, tilting his head to catch a glimpse of the bracelet. You smiled up at him before completing the knot.
"Daddy!" you squealed, quickly grabbing your second bracelet, "Don't worry, I didn't forget about you! See?"
Jake chuckled, though his smile didn't reach his eyes, as he kneeled before you. "I get one too?" he asked.
"Mhm! Hold your hand out!" you instructed, making him smile again.
Following your orders, he held his wrist out, letting you wrap the beaded string around it. As you concentrated on tying, Neytiri placed her hand on your head and kissed your hair. When her lips connected with your head, she looked up, eyeing her mate.
Feeling her eyes on him, Jake looked up to meet Neytiri's gaze. His expression fell slightly as she pulled away, standing up silently. Giving him one last nod, she slipped away into the forest.
When you finished your knot, you raised your hands in celebration. "Done!" you exclaimed, making Jake turn his attention back to you, "Do you like it?"
Jake smiled softly, raising his wrist to admire your work. "Wow, look at that," he breathed, turning his wrist over, "My baby girl's the best bead artist in all of Pandora!"
You giggled, making his smile grow. Lowering his wrist, he held his hands out to you, motioning you over.
"C'mere," he instructed softly.
He watched as you stood up, brushing off your backside before turning to face him. Then, you took one small step forward, a mischievous twinkle in your eyes. Jake tilted his head, instantly picking up on your playful aura. When you took another small step forward, he raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, we're playin' that game, huh?" he asked, lowering his hands to brace himself.
Giggles poured from your lips as you braced yourself before sprinting in the opposite direction.
"Oh, that was a big mistake, baby!" he called, running after you.
You screamed, sprinting across the grass before reaching a tree. When you darted behind it, Jake reached it, grabbing onto the trunk. Your giggles grew louder as you peeked around the trunk, only to be met with your father's looming figure.
"I see you!" he exclaimed, making you squeal and run to the other side.
Jake laughed loudly, mimicking your movements as he switched sides. When you peeked around the opposite side, Jake hid his presence for a moment. Then, he popped his head out with a growl.
"You can't hide from me!" he barked, making you scream and run back around.
As easily as it would've been for him to catch you, a childish part of him thrived in the chase. So, he let you run around the tree before padding after you, reaching his hands out like claws.
"I'm gonna get you!" he yelled, quickly gaining on you, "Those little legs can only carry you so far!"
Jake dropped to his knees and skidded across the forest floor, sliding behind you and grabbing your waist. You screamed as he lifted you, flipping you upside down. Then, he pulled you to his chest, keeping one arm wrapped around your legs--which were kicking wildly--as he poked your stomach repeatedly with his other hand.
"Is this what you want? Huh?" he teased, switching to lightly wiggling his fingers over your soft stomach, making you go wild, "You want Daddy to give you some belly laughs?"
You shook your head, unable to get a word out through your laughter.
"No? You sure?" he asked, raising his tone to be heard over your laughs, "Because whenever you wanna provoke me, this is how we solve things."
You shook your head, raising your hands to cover your face.
"Ah, no you don't," Jake said, quickly digging into your hollows to make you lower your hands, "Don't you dare hide that smile from me."
He flipped you right-side up, wrapping his arms around your tiny body and pulling you close. Your giggles died down as he pressed his face against the side of your head, nuzzling into you.
Releasing a sigh, he cupped your head. "My sweet girl," he breathed, "I can never get enough of that smile of yours."
Wrapping your arms around Jake's neck, you pulled yourself closer.
"I love you, Daddy."
Though he knew it wasn't physically possible, he'd almost convinced himself that his heart had turned to mush in that moment. Lowering you, he pressed your head against his chest as he began petting your head, working his hand slowly through your dark waves.
"I love you more, baby. You know I'll always protect you, right?" he asked, making you nod, "I'd reign all hellfire if anything happened to you."
Glancing down, he grew relieved as he saw your eyes drooping closed. However, his relief morphed into anxiety and guilt as he looked towards the pond.
A small noise came from your lips, making Jake snap his gaze back down to you. However, he relaxed when he saw that you'd simply let out a small whimper in your sleep.
"Shhhh," he hushed you, watching as your hand subconsciously slid down his collarbone before settling on his chest.
With every breath he took, your small hand rose and fell with his chest. Ever since you were an infant, you'd always found comfort in filling his heartbeat as you drifted off.
As Jake's mind wandered back to memories of you as a baby, he was unable to stop it from traveling to that night.
"It's mine!" Lo'ak exclaimed, charging after his brother.
"I had it first!" Neteyam protested, water splashing at his feet as he ran into the pond.
"Aye! Both of you!" Jake called, running after his sons, "Quit it now! Give it to me!"
Jake briefly put you down before climbing into the pond. Neteyam and Lo'ak had already made their way to the deeper end, much to Jake's annoyance. He began swimming after them, scolding them in the process.
As you watched your father, you let out amused giggles, clapping your hands. Then, as he got farther away, you frowned slightly, your instincts wanting him close to you again.
Since your only method of travel was with your hands and knees, you began to crawl along the side of the pond. You babbled as you followed Jake, continuing along the edge as he swam farther into the deep end.
"Stop! No! Give it to me!" Jake chided, gripping Neteyam's wrist and snatching the object from his grasp, "Both of you need to cool it. Now."
"Dad!" Neteyam exclaimed, pointing past Jake as Lo'ak smacked the back of his head.
"Aye!" Jake barked, snatching Lo'ak's arm, "What did I just say?"
"Dad!" Neteyam yelled again, eyes wide with fear as he continued to point.
Jake looked at Neteyam, following his finger before sharply turning around. He caught sight of your hand reaching the edge of the pond before you stopped, smiling as you realized that you had Jake's attention again.
"Y/N!" Jake yelled, eyes wide as he bolted back towards you, swimming furiously.
"Dad, get her!" Lo'ak yelled, panic echoing in his tone.
Jake had almost reached you when your hand went over the edge, causing you to plummet into the water. Though you were an infant, the feeling of the icy cold temperature rushing into your lungs--along with the suffocating gasp you took--would forever be ingrained in your mind.
"Shit!"
Your father's eyes expanded with panic as he took a sharp breath and dived. It took him no time to spot you, given that the pond's floor glowed with a radiance that matched the rest of the forest. Your tiny body squirmed as a confused panic overwhelmed your young mind.
Jake straightened his body, shooting forward with a fresh momentum before grabbing you. Within a couple of seconds, he reached the surface, raising you above his head in order to help you resurface first. As he gasped and blinked rapidly, your coughs and cries immediately triggered his panic reflex.
"Y/N!" Neteyam yelled.
Ignoring his sons' calls, Jake pulled you to his chest and hopped out of the water. Then, he began patting your back, coaxing water out of your lungs as you spit up repeatedly.
"Oh my God, baby," Jake cooed, voice shaking with panic, "Baby, baby, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry."
He gently bounced you once before patting your back again. "That's it, that's it. Get it all out."
Once your coughing was completed, it was replaced by crying. Jake cursed himself as he pulled you to his chest, bouncing you gently as he cupped your small head in his hand.
"I'm so sorry, baby girl. I'm so sorry," he cooed, "Shhhh, it's over now. Daddy has you. Daddy's got you."
Jake closed his eyes, feeling a fire spark within him as the memory concluded. He still held a great deal of anger at himself. In many ways, he felt as though he'd failed to protect you. Furthermore, he was reminded of it every time you refused to go near a larger body of water.
However, he also knew that his mate was right. It was better to get you over this fear now than later. You couldn't go your whole life avoiding water.
. *. ⋆
Releasing a sigh, you blinked briefly as a yawn pushed its way through your lips. As your vision began to clear, you leaned your head up. Immediately, you were met with the tender gaze of your father.
Smiling, you wrapped your arms around his neck. "Hi, Daddy."
He smiled briefly. "Hi, baby," he answered lowly, "Have a good nap?"
You nodded. "Mhm."
Turning away from him, you rubbed your eyes before opening them once again. As your surroundings materialized before you, a paralyzing panic shot through your entire body. Eyes widening, you looked around, moving your gaze from Jake's arms around your body to the pool of water that surrounded you. Turning frantically, you spotted the grassy forest floor, several feet away.
"No," you breathed, tears gathering in your eyes, "No! No! Daddy! No!"
"Y/N, Y/N," Jake called calmly, tightening his grip on you as you began squirming, "Baby, look at me. Look at me, sweetheart."
He'd never seen you break down so fast. Pure terror befell your eyes as you began screaming. Your piercing voice echoed throughout the entire forest, agitating a swarm of fan lizards as they took off above you.
Jake felt his heart shattering within his chest as he maintained his steel grip on you, knowing that he would need to tough it out for the results he wanted in the end.
Nevertheless, he couldn't help thinking that he did this to you. He was the reason that water terrified you so deeply. However, this weighing guilt gave him the strength to assure an end to this fear. Once you saw how harmless and beautiful water could be, you would be able to move past this.
"Baby girl, please," he begged softly, "Look at me. Look at Daddy."
However, the longer he held you, the more he realized that his words would do nothing to soothe your tears. This was pure, genuine fear, and you simply needed to cry it out.
So, after releasing a sigh, he pressed your head against his chest, once again. Bouncing you gently, he let you cling to him and scream at the top of your lungs. Closing his eyes and tilting his head back, he continued to remind himself that this was for your own good.
Jake didn't time it, so he had no idea how long you cried, but he'd never forget the relief that washed over him when you finally began to calm down. Opening his eyes, he lowered his gaze to you, watching as your hoarse voice began to quiet down. Keeping his vision trained on you, he waited as your cries turned to sniffles. Then, after a long moment, you grew silent, wiping your swollen eyes with your hands.
Before saying anything, he let you look around. He wanted you to observe your situation and process the lack of danger on your own. Still hiccuping with the occasional sniffle, you looked around, taking in the serene state of the pond.
Finally, you looked back up at Jake, eyeing him vulnerably. He released a breath through his nose, smiling softly as he tilted his head.
"You ready to hear me out now?" he asked.
Your small hand moved over his chest, resting over his heart. Lowering your gaze, you nodded.
"Okay," he began, tilting your head back up with his pointer, "I need you to know that I'm not gonna let anything happen to you tonight. Do you understand?"
You pouted, looking around before nodding.
"Water is not always scary. It cleanses us, relaxes us, hydrates us, offers us methods of travel," he continued, "and once your body learns how to interact with water, it can do so much for you, baby."
You released a breath, still eyeing the pond with uneasiness. Slowly, Jake began to lower himself. "There are countless situations where water can be harmless. I need to show you that so you don't have to be afraid anymore."
Whining slightly, you clung to him, wrapping your arms around his neck. Immediately, he stopped his movements.
"You want a moment?" he asked.
After you nodded, he maintained his position, allowing you to adjust to your proximity to the water. Once you grew comfortable, you looked back at him.
"Can I keep going?" he asked gently, earning a nod from you.
Jake resumed lowering himself, finally stopping when your feet were just above the water. He tightened his grip before speaking once more.
"I got you," he said simply.
As he slowly lowered you both into the water, you tucked your face into his neck, squeezing your eyes shut. You felt the temperature slightly drop around you. Once the water was up to your chest, Jake halted his movements, allowing you to adjust.
In the silence of the night, the only sound you heard was the soft rippling of the water that surrounded you. For a few minutes, you kept yourself tucked into Jake's neck, not daring to lift your head. However, after Jake placed a hand over your head, petting your hair, you slowly gained the courage to sit up.
When you did, you gasped, looking around at how close the water was to you. Jake watched you closely, monitoring your state.
Then, you released a breath, feeling your fear begin to slip off of you. Jake lifted his hand from the water, running it softly over the back of your head before lowering it.
"You okay?"
When you nodded, he sighed, smiling slightly.
"Okay," he answered, "Now, I've told you about holding your breath before, right? Let me see you do it."
Meeting his eyes, you took in a deep breath and puffed up your cheeks. Jake laughed, nodding briefly.
"Exactly. Good girl." He bounced you once, readjusting his grip on you. "Now, that's what you always have to do when you go underwater. No matter what, don't take a breath while underneath. That's how it hurts your chest."
Raising a hand, he placed it over your small chest. "Right here. But if you hold your breath, going under won't hurt you."
Releasing the breath you'd been holding, you lowered your gaze to his hand, which was still resting on your chest. Then, you looked back into his eyes--eyes that assured a sense of security that no one could match.
Jake shook his head. "That's all it is."
When he lowered his hand, wrapping it back around your body, you glanced around one more time. Jake waited for you to meet his gaze again before raising an eyebrow.
"Can we try?" he asked, squeezing you briefly.
You took a small breath and nodded.
Jake smiled, grabbing your hand and pressing it against his chest.
"Ready?" he asked, "Deep breath."
The two of you inhaled deeply before he lowered your bodies beneath the water's surface. The cool rush was a shock to your mind, but you found the sensation slightly refreshing. Opening your eyes, you were met with a view of your father, his eyes watching you as his queue floated freely behind him. He nodded to you, giving you a close-lipped smile.
When he brought you back up, you both inhaled deeply, blinking rapidly as water dripped down your faces. You panted, looking around as Jake held you to him.
Cupping your head, he raised his eyebrows. "You okay?"
As your panting breaths calmed, you felt a small smile tug on your lips. "Again, Daddy."
His eyes widened as he gawked at you. For a moment, he remained silent. However, his blank stare turned into a wide smile. Before long, his smile broke into relieved laughter.
"A-Again?" he repeated, cupping your cheek.
You nodded, unable to resist smiling with him.
Jake released a breath, shaking his head. "Oh, good girl," he breathed, squeezing you to him and peppering you with kisses, "Good girl, good girl."
You giggled as he leaned back, wiping some hair from your face. "My brave girl," he whispered, "God, I love you so much."
"Again, Daddy," you repeated, making him chuckle before nodding.
"Alright, we'll go again. Ready? Deep breath."
As you repeated your actions, you stayed underneath longer. Looking around, you took in the glowing pond floor. You felt as though you were seeing a completely different version of the world. Then, after looking back at Jake, you pressed your hand against his chest.
Jake looked down, smiling at your hand placement before pulling you close, holding you as your hair floated wildly around you.

just wanna say that I do read every single message/comment/reply/repost you guys leave and I love love love you all so much. your support means the universe.
also wanna thank you all for appointing me as the honorary daddy issue healer lmao y'all make me laugh with that
but in all seriousness, when I get comments saying I am healing daddy issues "one fic at a time", I truly can't put into words how much that means to me.
i empathize your pain and am so glad that my writing can offer at least a little bit of comfort to all of you.
no matter who you are, I believe that all of us deserve to have a caring, compassionate, attentive, protective male figure in our lives to shower us with love, but unfortunately, that isn't the reality for everyone.
therefore, I am so thankful that we can unite here and put our trust in Jake to gift us with that paternal affection that some (or all of us) need so badly.
know this: he loves you back and, no matter what, he'll always be there to take care of his baby girl.
big big love <3333

Days of Coping
Jake Sully x Daughter!Reader
Tumblr media
this is a part of a series of continuation scenarios following part 1 and part 2, with Y/N's death and resurrection. enjoy xx.
Under the late afternoon sun, as eclipse neared, your family walked across the sand, approaching the Metkayina village. All of you had gone fishing together, gathering food for the village's dinner that evening. Lo'ak and Neytiri walked in front, followed by you and Neteyam. Behind you, Jake kept close in step, sharply monitoring you.
The sudden sound of a scream made you jump, sharply turning your head towards the noise. When your eyes caught sight of a little girl, who was running towards the water before jumping in, your shoulders relaxed.
Neteyam, who'd been watching you from the corner of his eye, stepped closer before wrapping an arm around you. As soon as his arm made contact, you jumped again, jerking your head up to look at him before immediately relaxing.
Upon seeing your startled movements at his touch, his eyes softened as he pulled you close. Then, he leaned down slightly before placing a quick kiss on the top of your head.
"Hey," he whispered, raising his hand to cup the back of your head.
You raised your eyes to meet your big brother's before wrapping your arms around his waist. He swung his bag over his shoulder, freeing his other hand, before gathering you in his arms. His longer arms engulfed you, holding you to him as your head rested on his shoulder. As the two of you held each other, you never ceased from walking.
Jake, who'd watched the whole thing from behind you, felt a small smile tug at his lips. However, as sweet as the sight was--seeing his oldest look after his youngest--he couldn't shake the weight within his chest.
As he observed your state, his mind wandered back to his own PTSD from being a marine. Nothing hurt him more than seeing you like this--skittish and haunted by the remnants of war.
Another noise came from the villagers, making you jump, once again. This time, it was a group of adolescent boys whooping and howling. Neteyam, of course, felt your start and glanced at the group of boys before turning his attention to you.
As one hand cupped your head, the other briefly rubbed your back. "S'okay, baby sister," he spoke softly, "It's just the village, yeah?"
You sighed before nodding, holding him tighter. Sensing your unease, he responded with squeezing you tighter.
Unable to hold his tongue any longer, Jake spoke up. "Teyam."
Neteyam glanced back, halting his movements. Since he was holding you, you stopped with him. At the sound of Jake's voice, Neytiri and Lo'ak turned around before coming to a stop.
Jake reached out, gently gripping your shoulder before pulling you to him. "You go on ahead with your mother and brother," Jake instructed, "I wanna talk to your sister for a minute."
Neteyam hesitated, looking down at you with a vigilant gaze. When he didn't move, Jake nodded his head in the direction of his mate.
"Go on," he encouraged, "I got her."
Neteyam finally nodded before obediently mumbling, "Yes, sir."
As Neteyam turned around, walking towards Neytiri and Lo'ak, Neytiri reached out, bringing her hand over his back as he passed her. She kept her gaze on Jake, mentally questioning him. Jake gave her a comforting nod, letting her know it was alright to go on.
Neytiri gently pushed Lo'ak forward before finally turning around and walking away herself.
Once the rest of your family was a decent distance away, Jake swung his bag and supplies over his shoulder before taking a knee. As he grabbed your other shoulder, preparing to turn you towards him, another noise caused you to jump, once again.
Jake tilted his head as his eyes softened. "Baby girl," he whispered, turning you before cupping your cheek, "Hey . . ."
Though your head faced him, you lowered your gaze to look at his chest, too embarrassed to meet his eyes. Jake sighed, beginning to rub his thumb against your skin.
"Y/N," he cooed, "Let me in, baby. What can I do?"
You shook your head, feeling tears of frustration begin to sting your eyes. Jake reached out and cupped your other cheek, tilting his head down to catch your eyes. Refusing to let him see your tears, you squeezed your eyes shut. However, this only produced the opposite effect, causing the rest of your face to tense as a sob pushed its way out your lips.
Jake leaned back, feeling his heart clench at the sound of your first sob. "Oh, baby," he whispered, pulling you in, "Hey, hey, hey . . ."
Instinctively, you wrapped your arms around his neck, tucking your face into his hair, inhaling his comforting scent.
"What do you need me to do?" Jake asked, cupping your head as he rocked you from side to side, "Name anything and it's yours."
"I'm tired of being so highly strung," you whimpered, "and having nightmares and crying all the time."
"Sweetheart, you're dealing with a lot right now," Jake explained patiently, "Your body and mind are trying to figure out ways to cope. Don't ever feel ashamed of that."
He began rubbing your back. "If anything around you is upsetting you, or things get to be too much, don't ever hesitate to come and tell me. You let everything out to me, alright? Don't hold that stuff in."
You nodded into his skin, maintaining a firm grip on him. As another loud noise echoed from the village, you flinched in his arms. Jake tightened his grip on you before turning his head to speak near your ear.
"You're jumpier than usual today," he observed, "What's going on? You have another nightmare last night?"
When you didn't answer, he released another sigh, closing his eyes as he lowered his head slightly.
"Y/N. Please, please wake me up when you have a nightmare. I don't care how late it is or how tired you think I am."
"I'm trying to learn to deal with them on my own, Dad," you replied, keeping your face tucked away from his gaze.
"Y/N, no," he replied, turning your head to meet his eyes, "From now on, wake me up every time, you hear me? I know how scared you get, and I can't fathom the thought of you sitting alone panicking in the middle of the night when I'm right there to--"
He took a breath, gathering his thoughts. However, before he could finish you leaned into his palm before responding softly.
"Yes, sir."
Sorrow filled his eyes as he processed your meek, militant response. "No--baby, you don't have to--" he began, stopping to close his eyes for a moment before reopening them, "Just please wake me up, alright? That's what I'm here for."
Jake hated your resistance when it came to waking him up at night. During the times that your nightmares had been strong enough to wake him up, he'd witnessed you face countless panic attacks as your mind tricked you into thinking you were back on the field. You would wake up gasping, before immediately looking down and touching your chest, terrified that the bullet wound would be there.
It always took him awhile to talk you down from your panicked state. However, with the nightmares being common occurrences, it helped him pick up on what worked with you and what didn't.
Cradling you was always his go-to. It brought you back to the safety of being an infant, and resting in his arms as he rocked you to sleep. Other times, he simply needed to hug you, to maintain a secure grip on you to ensure that he was your anchor.
A few times, you'd been so consumed by your nightmare that frantic movements transferred into reality. Your arms would fling, or you would scratch yourself. These were the few times that Jake was forced to completely restrain you, wrapping his arms around you while holding your wrists. Then, he would pull you to him and wrap his legs around yours to cease your kicking. Though he held you with great strength, his voice remained soft as he did his best to calm you down.
Jake cupped your head and lowered it back to his shoulder. "I don't mean to scold you, sweetheart," he said softly, "Trust me, that's the last thing I wanna do."
He turned to place a kiss on your cheek. Once he did, you pulled away before glancing up at the sky. The sun had eclipsed. An uneasiness settled within your gut as you thought about your blurred vision staring at the sky. Though the memory seemed so far away now, like it'd happened in another life--and in a way it did--you couldn't shake the fear that crept back into you every time.
Jake observed you, glancing up at the eclipse before looking back at you. He began to ask you about it but stopped when something else caught your attention. Following your gaze, he spotted a father walking across the white sand, holding his young daughter to his chest.
When he looked back at you, he didn't miss the longing expression in your eyes. He leaned forward, tilting his head slightly.
"You want me to carry you?"
Your cheeks burned as you lowered your gaze, embarrassed that he'd been able to read you so easily. Swallowing thickly, you shook your head.
"I'm too old now."
Jake exhaled out of his nose as a smile tugged at his lips. "Never."
After securing his hunting supplies one more time, he reached under your arms before adjusting his grip.
"C'mere. Up we go."
Lifting you was as easy as lifting a human. Even though you were technically an adolescent, there was still a massive size difference between you and Jake, given that you were only a few good inches above Spider. Jake was far from opposed to it, though. To him, you would always be his little girl, so your petite frame just fed into that mindset.
Jake picked you up before settling you on his hip, just like he used to when you were younger. He bounced you up once, securing you, before setting a hand on the back of your head. You leaned in, laying your head on his shoulder before closing your eyes.
The rest of the walk was peaceful. As you rode in his arms, you allowed the slight bounce of his steps to lull you into a brief slumber.
-
Opening your eyes, you sucked in a breath. As the world began to materialize around you, you struggled to pull yourself from your nightmare. Your vision flashed between the straw ceiling of your hut, --slightly visible from the warm, dim light of a small fire--and the image within your mind, which was the eclipsing sun that you'd gazed at before your death.
As you took in shallow breaths, you tried to calm yourself by closing your eyes. Then, you attempted to place your hands over your chest, an action that brought you comfort when you felt the unwounded skin beneath your hands. However, alarm spiked within you as you failed to move your arms.
Your heart rate, which had previously began slowing down, began to pick up again. Taking a breath, you tried to move again. When your body refused to obey your orders, your mind spiraled into hysterics.
Each breath grew quicker as you attempted to turn your head, speak, or move.
"Ughnnnnn," you moaned, hoping that your voice would manage to wake someone, "Urhnnnnnn!"
A body, that had been laying next to you, sat up quickly. When it leaned over you, relief filled your mind as your big brother's concerned eyes gazed down at you.
"Baby sister?" Neteyam whispered, cupping your cheek, "What's wrong?"
"Ughrnnn!" you moaned, frustrated tears gathering in your eyes as you tried desperately to communicate with him.
He frowned, shifting his gaze to the rest of your body, which was laying flat with a strange stiffness. When his eyes returned to yours, he asked the dreaded question.
"Can you not move?"
"Urhn, urhn," you mumbled as a lonely tear traveled down your cheek.
His eyes widened slightly as he wiped your tear. "Okay, okay, let me just . . ." His hands hovered unsurely over your smaller body.
Realizing he couldn't solve this on his own, he let out a small groan before reaching over you. He shook the body on the other side of you.
"Dad? Dad!" he whispered harshly.
Jake jolted up, looking around briefly before spotting Neteyam. Then, his eyes shifted down to you. He scooted forward, shrinking his proximity to you. Then, he looked back at Neteyam.
"What is it, son? What's wrong?"
"Y/N. She says she can't move," he replied, panic seeping its way into his soft tone.
"What?" Jake hissed, looking down sharply and reaching his hand over you, cupping your cheek, "Y/N? What's goin' on, baby? Talk to me. Nightmare?"
"Urgnnn." Your voice came out in a strained whimper.
Jake's eyes shifted to your lips, picking up on your inability to move them.
"I don't think she can speak, either," Neteyam continued, gingerly holding your shoulder, "She's only been making noises like that. That's how she woke me up."
Jake's expression grew confused. Then, he looked down at the rest of your body. His eyes scanned every limb, every inch of skin for a potential injury.
His heart rate spiked as he cupped his hand under your neck before lifting you. His sharp gaze scanned your back, searching for any sign of injury. However, to his relief, there was none.
With a hand still cupping your neck, rather than laying you back down, he readjusted his position and pulled you onto his lap. He supported your head with the crook of his arm, cradling you like he always did. Then, he cupped your cheek, scanning your body one more time before returning his gaze to you.
"What's wrong with her, Dad?" Neteyam asked, sounding less like your protective big brother and more like a frightened child.
"Okay, okay," Jake whispered, gently wiping a tear that had fallen down your cheek, "Let me just--let me just try to figure this out. I don't see any injuries on her."
It was difficult for him to calm his mind, especially since he'd experienced the horrors of being paralyzed himself. However, his case was straightforward--with a spinal injury. As he held you in his arms, he searched again, but failed to locate any injuries on you.
Why couldn't you move?
Then, a distant conversation with Norm and Max pushed its way to the front of his mind.
"There's a lot that she could be prone to. This is something that we've never dealt with before," Norm said, after Jake had explained your resurrection process to him, "I mean, she experienced death, went into the afterlife, and returned. This is unprecedented. There's no way of knowing what PTSD symptoms, anxieties, or other mental health issues she could face as a consequence. Things could vary from trouble sleeping to panic attacks to sleep paralysis."
"Sleep paralysis?" Jake had asked, "What the hell does that mean?"
"It's when you wake up and you're unable to move or speak. The paralysis doesn't last long, but sometimes going back to sleep is the best option," Max answered.
"It hasn't been studied enough to know the definite causes of it," Norm continued, "but some think it's brought on by immense anxiety. It's harmless, but it can be a frightening experience for anyone dealing with it."
"Sleep paralysis," Jake whispered to himself.
Neteyam perked up, recognizing a look of realization in his father's eyes. Jake looked at him before repeating himself.
"Sleep paralysis."
Though Neteyam was glad his father seemed to understand what it was, he couldn't hide the confusion that overtook his gaze. However, he remained silent, knowing Jake needed to focus on you rather than explain things to him.
When Neteyam looked back down at you, his heart broke as he spotted more tears traveling down your cheeks. He leaned over you, braids swinging in his face, as he wiped your tears.
"Hey, shh," he cooed, "It's okay. Dad knows what it is now."
"Okay, okay, baby, listen to me, shhhh," Jake began as more cries began to force their way out of your mouth, "You're gonna be okay. Norm and Max mentioned this before. Sleep paralysis. It's harmless, but can be triggered by anxiety or stress. It'll wear off in a few minutes."
Though you tried to subdue them, fear caused more muffled cries pushed themselves from your body. Jake felt his heart clench with each new sob as he tightened his grip.
"I know, I know baby girl. I'm so sorry," he soothed, shaking his head, "but I'm gonna hold you until it wears off, alright? Your brother's here too. We're not goin' anywhere."
Jake swiped a piece of hair from your forehead. Then, he continued to wipe any stray tears that fell.
Though you were petrified with fear, the presence of your father and oldest brother managed to soothe you enough for you to nod off without realizing.
-
When you'd opened your eyes again, you felt an element of shock, having no memory of falling asleep. Though you weren't sure how much time had passed, you could feel more heat in the air around you, letting you know that eclipse had passed.
Jake smiled softly, gently pinching your chin. "Hey you."
After your eyes shifted between your father and your brother--who hadn't moved from his spot, either--you realized you were in the same position that you'd nodded off from.
"You were out like a light," Jake whispered, "How do you feel?"
"How long has it been?" you asked.
When they both widened their eyes, realization overcame you. "Oh!" you exclaimed, covering your mouth afterwards.
When your body shot up, coming to a sitting position, your head swam. Letting out a murmur, you placed a hand on your head, wobbling slightly. Jake grabbed your side and the back of your head, while Neteyam gripped both your shoulders.
"Woah, hang on, sweetheart," Jake said, as they both steadied you, "Easy, now, easy. Take it slow."
Lowering your hand from your head, you nodded, leaning back into Jake's hand. Jake kept his eyes trained on you before glancing up at Neteyam.
"Teyam," he called.
Neteyam, who'd been gripping your shoulders to steady you, looked up at his father.
"Go grab the leftovers that we saved for her from dinner. Get some water too," Jake ordered, gently moving you to lean against the wall.
Neteyam nodded, standing up. "Yes, sir."
Jake kept a hand behind your head, giving you cushion as you leaned back. When Neteyam returned--with cooked fish, mashed fruit, and water--Jake carefully leaned you up.
"When I brought you back here yesterday, it was already dinnertime, but I didn't have the heart to wake you, especially with all the night terrors you've been dealing with," Jake explained, taking the bowls from Neteyam and setting them in front of you, "Figured we could save this for whenever you woke up."
You nodded. "It's alright. I wasn't that hungry at the time, anyway."
As you said this, your stomach growled loudly. Jake and Neteyam glanced at each other, amused smiles plastered on their faces. As your cheeks grew warm, you looked down, focusing on starting your first meal.
"Well, at least we know you're hungry now, hm?" Neteyam teased, smirking as he leaned forward and playfully clawed at your stomach.
This emitted a mixture of a helpless giggle and a hiss from you, causing him to pull back with a laugh. Jake failed to bite back a smile before giving Neteyam a quick nuggie on the head.
"Alright, let your sister eat. You should've been asleep too, anyway," Jake said, nodding towards Neteyam's mat.
"Respectfully, sir," Neteyam answered, "I wouldn't have been able to get back to sleep, anyway."
Jake looked at his son before sighing, knowing that he was right. However, he couldn't help feeling proud of the young man Neteyam was becoming. In many ways, though he wasn't perfect, he was the embodiment of the perfect big brother you and Lo'ak needed.
Nodding, Jake finally responded. "I know . . . Now go on, it'll be breakfast soon. Your sister's alright now."
Neteyam hopped up, positioning himself in a squat before standing up. "Yes, sir."
Before leaving, he leaned down, gripped your shoulders, and placed a kiss on your cheek. When you playfully scrunched up your face, Neteyam tilted his head in mock offense--something he'd picked up from Jake. Then, without warning, he blew into your left ear, making you gasp and raise your shoulder to press it against your ear.
"Teyam!" you squealed, laughing as you instinctively scooted closer to Jake.
"Aye! What did I just say? Out!" Jake commanded, though his voice sounded far less threatening as he laughed, as well, "You'll have time to mess with your baby sister later. Go!"
Your eyes widened as you lowered a piece of fruit from your mouth. "Wha--no, no! I did not agree to that!"
After shifting your gaze from Jake to Neteyam, your big brother smirked as he took steps backwards, braids swinging in the process.
The mischievous glint in his eye was all-too-familiar to you, given that Jake was your father. "After breakfast and chores, baby sister," Neteyam said, pointing his finger at you.
"No way," you replied, trying to keep your nervous giggles down, "You stay away, you psycho."
He raised his hands, shrugging and looking around with raised eyebrows. "There's nowhere to hide."
Grabbing his blanket, you chugged it towards him, only for him to duck and bolt out of the hut.

Jake Sully x Daughter!Reader
Tumblr media
ik i've put you all through an emotional hell with these last few fics, so I'm gifting you with something soft n sweet. just Jake playing w his young daughter.
forehead kisses to you all <3
enjoy xxxx.
Jake kept his gaze down as he sharpened his knives. The evening was young, but nocturnal creatures of Pandora were already beginning to make their presence known. As subtle noises echoed from the surrounding forest, Jake's ears twitched as he worked, keeping an ear out for foreign noises.
It didn't take long for a foreign noise to catch his attention. Jake sharpened his blade one more time before pausing. With ears flicked to the side, he listened sharply, trying to see if he could pick up the noise again.
Pat, pat, pat.
There it was. He took another moment to listen for it. After hearing it again, he saw movement at the corner of his right eye. Careful not to turn his head, he shifted his gaze to the side, only to catch a glimpse of a small body tucking itself around a corner.
A smirk pulled at his lips as his eyes returned back to his knives. He picked up his blades before resuming his sharpening motions. However, he only gained a minute of sharpening time before he caught movement in the corner of his eye again--this time on his opposite side.
Keeping his eyes trained on the moving figure, he waited until it tucked itself around the corner again before he moved. In one quick motion, he dropped everything and soundlessly sprinted away.
As you hid behind the doorway again, you bit your lip, struggling to keep your giggles to yourself. However, when you heard your father's motions grow quiet, your breath hitched.
Moving slowly, you peeked back into the doorway, only to be met with an empty room. After scrunching your small face in confusion, you allowed your curiosity to carry you farther into the room. Looking back and forth, you grew more confused by the second when you realized that your father was no longer there.
As you crept to where Jake had been working, you failed to notice the towering figure creeping up behind you.
Just as you reached his tools, Jake grabbed your sides before yelling, "Are you trying to sneak up on me?"
You screamed, turning sharply as he kneeled in front of you. "You tryin' to scare me, baby girl? Huh?" he growled playfully, holding you close to him as you giggled frantically, "Oh, you're nothing but giggles now, aren't you?"
He held you closer as he began wiggling his fingers all over your stomach and sides, making your giggles escalate to panicked laughter. "Aren't you? Aren't you?" he repeated, keeping you laughing as you squirmed wildly in his arms.
As weak as his tickles were making you, you still managed to keep your biceps pressed to your sides, preventing him from traveling any higher than your stomach and sides. However, Jake didn't miss a thing, and he smiled mischievously before trying to prod at the area under your arms.
Your laughter heightened in pitch as he struggled to wedge his pointer fingers in the spaces that you were so fiercely protecting. After switching between front and back angles, he paused as he threw his head back and laughed. You panted as you crossed your arms while nervous giggles spilled from your lips.
"You really don't want me to get to those pits, now do you?" he teased.
To test your strength, he gripped your forearms and tried to pry them apart. Though he was stronger than you by a long shot, he was highly amused by how diligent your resistance was.
After letting himself laugh one more time, he raised his hands to cup your head. Then, he pulled you in and placed a kiss on your cheek. Once he pulled away, he stood up before heading back to where he was working.
"What did you need, baby?" he asked, reclaiming his spot in front of his knives.
As you watched him resume his repetitive actions, you calmed your panting breaths before your face fell slightly. You felt the absence of his body warmth, which had been so uplifting when he was within close proximity to you.
When you didn't answer, he glanced back at you. "Hm? Or were you just spying on me for entertainment?"
As your cheeks grew warm, you quickly realized that you couldn't find the courage to explain that you simply wanted some attention from him. As of lately, he'd gotten a bit busy with Neteyam and Lo'ak--who were reaching their adolescent years and being more rebellious than ever. It had been a minute since you'd gotten your daddy all to yourself.
However, your young mind did little to hide this unease from Jake's paternal instincts. Jake stopped his movements before placing his knives down.
"Y/N?" he called, a concerned frown crossing his face, "You okay? C'mere."
When he reached a hand out, you walked over to him and allowed him to pull you close again. He placed both hands on your sides, leaning back to scan your face. "You okay, baby?"
"Yeah," you answered simply, making him tilt his head and eye you suspiciously.
"Y/N," Jake warned gently, "Talk, or I'm gonna coax it outta you." As he said this, his fingers began to threateningly walk up your ribs, making you giggle and slam your biceps to your sides.
"No, Daddy," you giggled, making him chuckle before stilling his hands. You waited a moment before finally answering.
"I miss you."
His smile faded as he processed your words. Then, he withheld a stunned gasp as you closed the distance and wrapped your arms around his neck.
"Baby girl, I--" he began, returning your embrace with a few back rubs before pulling you back, "Hey." He cupped your face with his large hand. "You know I've been right here, right? I'm here whenever you need me, baby."
"You're always with Teyam and Lo'ak," you replied, dropping your gaze to his chest.
He began to answer, but cut himself off. As he reflected on the last couple of weeks, his heart dropped as he began to realize that you were correct. It had been a long time since he'd given you all of his attention--something you were so used to him spoiling you with.
"Oh . . . oh, I’m sorry, sweetheart," he apologized, gently pulling you closer, "Your older brothers are just such knuckleheads sometimes that I'm forced to give them more of my time."
As he explained this, you nodded understandingly, briefly lifting your gaze to meet his before lowering it again. However, he wasn't done, and was determined to redeem himself in your heart--a heart that he held so preciously.
"But I'll tell you one thing," he continued, gently wiggling a finger under your chin as he tilted his head down, trying to catch your eyes, "You'll always be my number one girl."
His words made a small smile tug on your lips, which brought relief to his heart. You kept your head down as he continued to tilt his head towards you, trying to catch a glimpse of the smile you were holding back.
"You got that?" he asked, nudging his pointer finger under your chin, "Hm?"
Hesitantly, you nodded, sucking in your cheeks as you struggled to keep a straight face. He smiled before crossing his legs around you, keeping you in one spot.
"Now, can I get a smile?"
Keeping your gaze down, you shook your head.
Jake raised his eyebrows. “No?”
His overly dramatic tone nearly made you crack. He leaned back, placing a hand on his chest before continuing.
“My baby girl refuses to crack a smile for me?” he asked before dropping his hand and gripping your arms.
The mischievous twinkle returned to his eyes, making your heart soar as anxious giggles began bubbling up again. However, you tried your hardest to suppress them and maintain a straight face.
“Oh, we’ll see about that," he growled.
Biting your lip, you flexed your arms as you crossed them in front of your chest, knowing exactly what he was trying to do. Your heart leapt within your chest as he easily managed to uncross them before beginning to coax them upwards.
You squeezed your lips closed as you fought his strength. Amused by your determination, he let you put up a little fight. He continued to gently push upwards while you struggled with shaking arms.
"Oh, she's fightin'," he teased, adding more strength to raise them a little higher, "She's fighting with every fiber of her itty bitty body."
The combination of the playful fight with your father, and his relentless teasing, made it harder for you to hold your ground. However, you held out, still refusing to give him the smile he so desperately wanted.
"Still nothing?" he gasped, tilting his head.
You shook your head, lips pressed tight as suppressed laughs shook your body. Jake took a dramatic breath before shaking his head.
"Alright, then."
Suddenly, he yanked you towards him before lifting you by your arms. In one quick motion, he laid you down and stretched your arms over your head. You screamed, shaking your head as he gasped dramatically again.
"No?" he asked, shaking his head with you as he imitated your desperate mannerisms.
"No! No! No!" you squealed, unable to hold your smile any longer.
"No? No? No?" Jake parroted, "Oh, we got a smile! We got a smile! Can we get a laugh?" He leaned down and blew a quick raspberry on your right hollow.
You jumped, letting out a squeal as you tugged desperately on your arms.
He smiled widely before moving his gaze to his grip on your wrists. He shifted your left wrist to his left hand, taking both wrists into one hand and freeing his right hand. Once you'd realized what he'd done, your squirming increased aggressively.
Jake raised his eyebrows at you before letting out a laugh. "What's wrong?" he asked, placing his large hand over your stomach, stilling some of your squirming.
You simply shook your head, finally beginning to release some laughs. Jake smiled before laughing with you. Then, he leaned down and placed a kiss on your forehead, soothing some of your laughter.
When he leaned up, he shook his head, endearment taking over his eyes. "I love you," he cooed, making you relax further, "and I love these giggles. But--"
You immediately tensed at his last word, making him smile again, "But, I don't think these are the genuine giggles I want," he continued, leaning in before releasing your stomach, "I think these are nervous giggles."
As he spoke his last two words, he used his free hand to poke each of your hollows, making you jump aggressively as helpless laughter immediately spilled from your lips.
"I think my baby girl is scared," he continued, reaching out threateningly as he emphasized certain words, but never making contact with your skin, "that I'm gonna attack her worst spot."
You jumped every time, laughing so hard that your cheeks began to grow sore. Jake leaned his head forward, collapsing it beside your body and shaking with his own laughter.
"God," he rasped, leaning back up, "I don't even have to do much with you. Your brothers were so hard to get a reaction out of."
Your laughter slowly subsided as you stared up at him, awaiting his next move. He released a soft breath.
"Alright," he finally spoke, "I think I'm almost done torturing you."
His words triggered your nerves, making laughter begin to bubble up once again. Chuckling, he shook his head at your instant reaction.
"However," he said, speaking over your laughter, "I wanna bring it home with your best laughs, baby. That means you gotta let me get these pits."
Your laughter heightened as you shook your head. He nodded his head, walking two fingers up your left side.
"Yes, yes, and then I'm gonna let you go, okay?" he teased, smiling as your laughter spiked when he finally reached your hollow, "Okay? I'm sorry, honey, the temptation is too much."
He only went on for about ten more seconds, knowing that you'd reached your limits. However, to you, those ten seconds felt like an eternity as he brutally attacked your most sensitive spot, wriggling his fingers against your skin.
He, then, released your arms and began using his other hand. You weren't quick enough when you lowered your arms, trapping his hands as he continued his attack.
At that point, you opened your eyes and screamed at him. He widened his eyes and playfully screamed back, mocking you completely. Then, he leaned down and blew one final raspberry in your neck.
"What in Eywa is going on in here?" Your mother's voice echoed, making Jake lift his head.
However, she didn't need him to answer as soon as she saw the position you both were in. Neytiri suppressed a laugh before forcing a stern tone.
"Ma Jake, you are going to kill our baby if you keep doing this."
"But she's such a cutie pie, watch." He blew a quick raspberry on your stomach, earning a fit of giggles from you. "See?"
Neytiri kneeled behind you, pulling you from his grasp. "Yes, she is, but I think she's had enough, don't you?"
Jake chuckled as Neytiri pulled you into her grasp. You leaned against her, obviously exhausted from all your laughing. After he stood up with Neytiri, he reached out and gently pinched your cheek.
"You ready for bed, baby girl?" he asked.
You nodded, giggling as he leaned in closer. "Yeah?" he asked, smiling reaching down to pinch your side.
"Jake," Neytiri hissed, leaning you away from him.
He pulled back, raising his hands in surrender. "Alright, alright, I'm done."
Neytiri playfully narrowed her eyes at him before cupping your head and taking you away to bathe.
