Well my point is that when azriel said a thing of secret lovely beauty isn’t really about gwyn it’s about the necklace, the one that he bought / had made for elain specifically and not for gwyn’s reaction neither anything about her cause those 3 words are related to a flower: Rose and this flower is related to one person: Elain

why did I literally never think of this before

"Elain gave it back".

That's what we learned from Morrigan and Feyre, in regards to what had happened to Elain and Truth Teller.

She returned it to Azriel. That simple gesture has been continuously misinterpreted as 'Elain doesn't care about TT or Azriel' or 'Elain abhors violence' and 'Elain can't handle Azriel's darkness'.

But what happened between Nesta cutting off the King's head and Elain returning the knife?

Because Elain wasn't the last person who held the dagger--it was Nesta. What transpired was Nesta rushed to the king, and grabbed the hilt of the dagger as she began twisting it. Meanwhile, Elain ran to Cassian, and both of them watched Nesta behead the King.

Now, nothing is said further about the knife. Nesta lifted the severed head and looked at it, while the Cauldron couldn't believe that Elain defended this 'thief', yet the Cauldron found her so lovely, it could never hurt her.

All of this means one thing--Elain went BACK for the dagger. She picked it up from the ground or she took it from Nesta. She was the one who understood its significance and its importance to Azriel and she took the dagger back. And likely, she cleaned it. Wiped the blade of blood and gore, before placing it back into the scabbard.

She was the one who carried it with her until the end of the battle, not knowing if Azriel would survive. If any of them would survive. But she served as the custodian for Truth Teller until it could be returned to its rightful owner. She carried it the entire day, following Azriel's words 'I won't be using it today' and once she saw that Azriel lived, she gave it back to him. If he'd died, it would've been Elain who would've held on to the dagger. If Azriel had died, it was Elain whom he trusted with his most treasured possession.

Elain stabbed the king in the throat, watched his beheading, had the Cauldron purr over her, then picked the dagger up, cleaned it and kept it safe for the duration of the battle, even after finding her father dead and watching the Cauldron being reforged.

Still think that Elain can't handle Azriel's darkness?

Them: Azriel is over Elain! He said he doesn't have a mate and isn't dating anyone. He's not even thinking about Elain anymore by HoFaS.

Me: Tf is this then?

Why on earth would Bryce notice Azriel taking a pause to look towards his blade, something she knows nothing about, while talking about the death of the King of Hybern? This situation got so mischaracterized to say he did not give credit to Elain for killing the king. This wilfully ignores the entire context of the crossover, where Azriel is side eyeing Nesta the entire time for giving up too much information. He is intentionally being secretive (you know, as Azriel does,) and yet we have this on page nugget right here where he is actively thinking about Elain while he is speaking. There is no other function to bringing attention to Azriel looking down at Truth-Teller while discussing how the King was killed. And he intentionally did not say Nesta killed the king. He said she "removed his head."

Also me: Additionally- wtf is this then?

Again, there is *no function* to Bryce noticing Azriel listening closely to Nesta discuss whether or not she is happier being Fae now unless it is to add depth to his perspective and frame of mind. We already know his mind drifted to Elain during this conversation. What else is a major on page moment for Az and Elain? When he helps her recover from Amren telling her at the dinner table in ACOFAS that she can't ever become human again.

Azriel's heart was broken seeing Elain struggle to adjust to being Fae and potentially wish she was still human. His eyes were filled with sorrow. Then he calls Amren a lil mouse and Elain's eyes fill with light that Feyre will not see dimmed further.

Of course Azriel is interested in hearing the sisters discuss if they prefer being Fae or not. This calls back to a scene that has already happened on page, just like the nod to Truth-Teller.

He is still thinking about Elain. These connections are not a stretch. They are quite explicit and direct.

There’s no way I just saw a post talking about being pro Elain and then turning around to say that she deserves a mate who is devoted to her, who would -come hell or high water- do anything to keep her happy, who would protect her, etc. and then said Lucien was that person? 💀

The same Lucien who is apparently oh so devoted to her by avoiding her all the damn time like she does him and all he’s really ever done is get her two gifts because he felt obligated and was then forced to speak with her because Feyre basically told him to? Feyre did that with Elain too but she was adamant that she should GiVe HiM a ChAnCe because he’s “good”.

And then say that Az does nothing but diminish Elain’s wants and needs?

That he’s the problem and toxic because he hasn’t thought past his fantasies of her? (Which it’s obvious as to why but we have delulu people)

That all he does is stifle her and doesn’t let her speak by speaking for her? 💀

It’s not Pro Elain to say she deserves a mate (who she doesn’t want btw)

Saying that she deserves what she wants for herself on her own accord (which isn’t her mate btw)
