-w anon again! i just wanted to make sure: did you change the graphics file in the base game or the newest ep? because it has to be the newest file (i'm not sure if it's mansion and garden or apartment life for you, but you should try both)

also for the quality: in graphic rules maker on the device info page does the "in database" section say yes? cos if it doesn't you should add your graphics card. (also do this before changing the txt file because this overwrites it? so it'll undo your changes if you do this first)

( sorry if this is annoying or unhelpful, i just emphatize cos it took me ages to get this game working so i understand the frustration but in the end it was so worth it D: )

I had already done what you suggested and did it again to make sure, but it still wasn't working. Since I had messed up too much with all the game's files, I decided to uninstall it all and install everything back again, then I carefully ~with all the painful experience I had~ followed some guides and I THINK it's working now. I used the -w and fullscreenizer and that's how it looks:

I'm still unsure why the resolution is stuck at 640x480 and I can't change it (maybe because of the windowed mode) but it seems like the resolution is how it's supposed to be (?). I will test some gameplay now and see how it goes.

You might have already tried this, but I recently bought a gaming computer myself and used a guide to install the sims 2. I can't include a link but if you google HOW TO INSTALL THE SIMS 2 IN 2021, there should be a link by sourceful that pops up. I installed each game in the recommended release and patch order and didn't have any issues.

I found the guide and I tried some of the things, but nothing worked unfortunately. I have all the discs so the patch thing wasn't an issue for me, but I must say this is one of the best guides I've seen so far so I hope it really does help people out there.

did you try the " -w" thing? that worked for me when i had that same error

Yes I did and the game sort of worked. It did open but I couldn't change the resolution in game, even thought I corretly changed the resolution scales on the Graphics Rules file.

Then I used the -w -r1920x1080, but the quality of the game didn't feel quite right. I guess I'll have to live with it.

Help with Sims 2

I know tumblr isn’t the best place for this, but...

As I mentioned before, I got a new PC and it has been very hard to make Sims 2 work in it. I have de discs, so it is not downloaded from Origin. I’ve tried many guides and still can’t figure out how to make it work. This is what happens when I try to launch the game:

I have already used Graphics Rules Maker and followed this leefish’s thread but I still get the message - I can assure my GraphicsRules and VideoCards file are correct, but still. Funny enough, I was able to launch the game when it was in windowed mode BUT I wasn’t able to put it in the right resolution then. 

Does anyone have any ideais or directions that could help me?

Today I fooled myself.

I formatted my PC and as I was installing everything back I thought it was a good idea to install and update Sims 4 (which I haven’t played since 2019). I did not only installed it as I also download a lot of mods to improve gameplay and went cc shopping, I was very excited! As I started playing, I was shocked: Sims had no wants nor fears, nor interesting backgrounds or personalities (despite the mods I got). After getting back to Sims 2, I can’t think about playing without it. Am I missing something about this game? I really want to enjoy it but how?
