a contented hum reverberates through him; mouth curving into a smile against the soft skin of her brow. her presence soothes & overwhelms in equal measure — intoxicating and new. the mere sight of her sent his pulse racing, to touch her made it feel as if it might stop entirely. even the casual intimacy of a chaste brush of his lips against her forehead was new. head - spinning in how perfectly natural it felt, as if they were always made to fit against each other like this. he tips his head to press their foreheads together, brushing his nose against hers, believing for just a moment that they were the only two in the castle.

he jumps a little at the all too familiar sound of grimsby's pointed cough. his own cheeks turning a deep shade of red at the realization they had been caught in so intimate a scene. yet why should they be embarrassed? this moment of peace had been hard - won, they deserved every second. dark brows furrow in a playful pout as her hand lifts to his mouth, swiftly grabbing her wrist & kissing the center of her palm. " no, no, i better stay, " voice raising pointedly with a slow turn of his head, clear enough so grimsby could hear. travelling down to kiss the inside of her wrist. " i'm too busy attending to very important matters, here. " at last pulling away from her, he turns to the entryway where grimsby lingered. with a last pointed look, the prince shut the door.

eyes fluttered shut, ariel sighs, 𝚖𝚎𝚕𝚘𝚍𝚒𝚘𝚞𝚜 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚜𝚘𝚏𝚝. a blooming, crystalline note. she basks in sensation as one does the sun : the steady WEIGHT of eric’s hand on her shoulders, the soft puff of his breath paired with the rasp of his stubble, the scent of salt and sand and ink tucked within the hollow of his throat, and finally : 𝑯𝑰𝑺 𝑲𝑰𝑺𝑺, lips warm and slightly chapped against her skin. it’s almost dizzying, his proximity, she doesn’t know if she will ever grow used to it. SHE DOESN’T WANT TO. her hands lift, curling loosely around his wrists, and her heart thuds, and her toes curl, and…. there’s a polite and amused and pointed cough somewhere over eric’s shoulder.

the sight of GRIMSBY with a knowing look on his face makes ariel blush, shying away slightly but not fully removing herself from her prince’s grasp. there’s a peel of laughter caught in her chest as she raises a hand, pressing gently to eric’s mouth. she has to resist the urge to trace its contours with the tips of her fingers. ❛ you’d better go. ❜
