ARYA
During the Abcom Film Festival, Arya stood out for me, directed by Ab com student Luigie Lastrilla, with the assistance of Richard Barnedo, he takes on the risk  to create such an experiment for the purpose of creating an awareness for people who is experiencing mental divisions of those with dissociative identity disorder more known as the multiple personality disorder.
The story revolves around the girl named Arya, right from the start she was shown in the film to be experiencing shifts in her identity, confusion would linger at the start of the movie because her background on who she really was was ultimately blank despite the fact that she was the focal point of the story. However, as the story proceeds you are enlightened to know the her character. Arya would be portrayed to be filled with confusion of constant wakening in places she would never remember going into, misery filling her up as she deals with arguments that she doesn't remember starting. Coleen Basagre played Iya, a division of Arya’s Identity as the aggressive one a product of the abuse from her past. Ria (Nossa Cruz) another division of her identity to be a product of her insecurities .
The film could have used the supporting characters more on how Arya was before and creating a relationship on which distinguishes her identity in a more deeper level. Though winning the Best editing of the festival, musical scoring and best actor. I rate the movie 3 out of 5. I think the disorder could be showcased more deeper because the film did not cover how it could be helped how people with disorders reach out to the public and get proper medication or therapy.

PiECES(EXPERIENCE)
A memorable experience in this filmmaking, I have with, my fellow group mates. From the start of shooting of this film I know, it’s going to hard and harder, but I realize it’s not. Adventure, happiness, and building relationship in this group are the founder of making a good relationship with each other. And I know it’s the start of growing friendship and being workmates. Pieces is a puzzle to picks, to form a friendship break and it’s a story of friendship and love.Like our story friendship is the most important than loving of someone can’t love you back.piece of friendship, a piece of love and happiness made in this group.

Gitling (Hyphen)
Tumblr media
Gitling is a Hugot movie written and directed by the third year Communication Arts student, Paolo Supillo. He clearly stated that the film was simply about “acceptance”.
The film revolves around the best actress of the Abcom Fil Festival, a girl named Alex (Cherry Mendoza) and her friends where she has portrayed her character very well, filled with mystery, sadness and poetry. The story as I found it might connect better with the young generation with the pinch of self actualization and relationships. At first I though it was another story in which a “loner” and an annoying guy hits it off and they create a close relationship that would lead the girl to get out of it shell and see the “real” world. However with the turn of events, I would eventually find myself getting confused as to actually realizing that the girl was coming out of the shell but actually slowly drifting inside her own shell. With direction of amazing screenplay and the flow of dialogues between Seb (Sherwin Ongaria) the annoying guy that I thought who was someone that would hit it off with Alex, was amazing, Seb, anchored the character of Alex.
To adhere to the theme of acceptance, Best Supporting Actor,Patrick Marquez as Pael, played as a man who was confused of his identity, later coming to Alex come out, was a seen that made me realize that they might have something deeper from before because out of his group of friends, Andy(Sandy Reyes) and Levi (Nathalie Recile) he chose to ask for guidance  from Alex and ultimately come out to her.
The strength of the film was in its script, however sometimes I find myself wanting it to roll out faster and press forward to actually know the story, it was an enabling factor of the film. Another strength that the film held that made them snatch up the Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography in the ABCOM Film Festival was the powerful yet simple manipulation of shots that was perfect for each scene.
However, the slow turn of events for me was the films weakness, sometimes the exchange of line was a bit long that takes my gaze away from the screen. The film was a good movie to watch on trips and while you want to watch something light and a film that would touch your heart and make you wonder. It is really a must see for Hugot Films lovers. I would rate a 4 out of 5 stars!

Chinese New Year!
Tumblr media
Kung Hei Fat Choi!
The Chinese new year also known as Lunar New year because of is one of the most prominent and celebrated festivals in the world. It is a major holiday in China has had strong influence on the lunar New Year celebrations of its geographic neighbors.
Especially in the Philippines wherein there are approximately 1.5 million Filipinos with pure Chinese ancestry, or around 1.8% of the population. And even Filipinos without a trace of Chinese are celebrating this festivity with them.
Of course the CNY would not be CNY without its traditions that involves how you would be getting good luck or even bad luck, depending on your zodiac. The Chinese Zodiac, known as Sheng Xiao, is based on a twelve-year cycle, each year in that cycle related to an animal sign. These signs are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.
This CNY, which starts on February 16, is designated as the Year of the Dog. People who was born in the year 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, and 2018 are said to be in luck this year.
Learn your Zodiac and know your luck this year. Click me!
With these kind of festivities a whole lot of beliefs, traditions, superstitions, would now pop up in the newspapers, radio stations and other media outlets. Houses and building are blasted with red banners with Chinese characters that I guess that would supposed to give them or the people luck. Fruits that are round in shape and sticky food that is supposed to keep luck by your side, would absolutely be around the stores and supermarkets ready to be cooked and turn to its chewy sweet taste that would be in tables of Chinese families having their reunion as part of the Chinese tradition during this kind of festivity.
However, with all these kinds of belief, I myself does not believe in just pure luck. According to Thomas Edison “Genius is a 99 percent of hard work and 1 percent of imagination.” Chinese people might be known for their ever shiny and mysterious luck magnets and superstitions, however in my own eyes I can see these kinds of people very hardworking and filled with perseverance. Even here in the country not of their own they rise in their businesses and other endeavors because they work, work, and work. And is the same with people who would succeed in their own fields now that success would not come if hard work is gone. You are the captain of your own destiny, superstitions and beliefs are good to guide you in your path and maybe mold your goals but you are the only one make your choices and consequences are part of it. May it be good or bad.
We should be thankful that we survived 2017 and should put on our armor for this year 2018 and be ready for its attacks and have our hands open for its blessings.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
Tumblr media
Ever since I was young I was taught to “Itapon and basura sa basurahan” and even now when I am old I think that saying got stuck in my being. I would find myself holding on to a piece of candy wrapper till the day ends because I can’t find a trash can where I can throw it.
Also it has become a pet peeve for me when I see someone throwing the wrapper of their “langhap sarap” burger straight out of the Jeepney window. But what can I do?
So, I just ignore hundreds of confrontations like this, till I read an article through an Advertisement on the sidebar of my screen on the phone. (The first ad I actually intentionally clicked through) I read that Germany ranked top in the recycling world, followed by Austria, then South Korea and I can’t even find my motherland on the list.
Tumblr media
So this settled on my mind for a while, and recalled issues on my Barangay where I heard some of our neighbors were complaining to the town hall leaders that the supposed disposal truck that should be taking garbage from our street was not coming anymore and they were answered that “garbage collecting truck won’t pick up their bags if the contents were not segregated.” And that actually made me chuckle and think about the list once again.
In an article of the France Press, Environmental group Greenpeace has ranked the Philippines as the "third-worst polluter into the world's oceans" after China and Indonesia.
Tumblr media
( A man holds a baby on a bridge over a garbage-filled creek in Manila on September 22, 2017. Giant Western consumer products brands led by Nestle, Unilever and Procter & Gamble cause serious ocean pollution by packaging products sold in the Philippines in cheap and disposable plastics, Greenpeace alleged on September 22. The environmental watchdog group ranked the Philippines as the "third worst polluter into the world's oceans" behind China and Indonesia in a report released in Manila. Noel Celis/AFP )
Data on global waste management is hard to gather in a meaningful way because there are so many sources, journeys, and endpoints for waste.
However just knowing where our country is positioned is already disturbing.
In an article by Rappler, a study found that 74% of the plastics leaking into the ocean from the Philippines comes from garbage that has already been collected by haulers and garbage trucks. This amounts to 386,000 tons of plastic trash.
Only 26% or 135,000 tons of plastics in seas actually comes from garbage that is not collected.
So it made me wonder, what the use of that segregation law is when it all comes back together in the end.
Philippines has a long way to go in saving mother nature, and I am proud that my mother taught me to respect nature and to throw my trash to the right places. I am also happy to know despite our shortcomings in trying to fix our garbage disposal I saw some good community intentions like “Parecycle ni Mayor” Programs and recycling  programs by big companies like Shell plastic bottle programs where they gather liter bottles, Pamelroti recycling programs  in exchange for money, gift cards, other items and others; gives orientation and awareness of the recycling run to save and preserve nature.
This video by Asian Development bank shows how these programs benefit all of us especially those in need.

Web Design and It’s lessons
The lesson on web design gave me a clearer view on how to post quality content on web sites with the design on mind. I learned that I should keep in mind that my website should have functionality; what my website can do for my users. The website’s appearance must be in tune with my themes or topics and appealing to the eyes of my users. It needs to be organized in a way that my users would not be confused on what to click next or where they are in my website. Through the lesson, I should also think as a user in which I would want the pleasure of ease in surfing through fun and interactive websites and feel that the author should be able to talk to its users and be able to receive my feedback and comments.
If I were to become a reputable blogger or writer in the future, I would always hark back to this lesson and would try to really apply the things I have learned in this course. Online Journalism will not fade away, it might be ever evolving but rules as to have quality content and appealing appearance, I think, will always be there. I think as a future writer, I want to see myself as someone who is capable in communicating to its readers and provide their needs but sticking to my morals and media ethics.

MY OWN SPEED
How driven are you towards success?
My determination in achieving a goal can be considered as something that I try to keep going and to have in my life. As young as I am, just like many people, I am frequently motivated by my parents and people who push me to achieve success.
As I look back and think about the things that I wanted to achieve and have achieved. Unexpectedly, the one that rises above them is my drive to continually live life; positively and doing my best. May it be in school or in personal challenges that I have to face.
Thus, I consider myself as a driven person in my own way. Driven, not by success but by my will.
Stress in school and in personal life used to hammer me with downheartedness when things do not go as planned. The stress sinking in would affect my health and even my relationship with people that are important to me. And that would leave me helpless and unmotivated to do things that I used to love and just dive in to being sad.
But things changed when my parents talked to me on how to handle my stress, on numerous occasions. They saw how I have changed and how stressed I was in my situation. Slowly I learned to look at myself and taught myself how to handle tough times. It’s a very hard when things still do go as planned or as I want it but because of the support of my parents and people that are important to me I learned to laugh it off and remind myself that I did my best and I should try again next time.
Now I take it slow and run on my own speed, the best that I can. Because when I worry myself on on the speed of my peers or listen to the degrading voices of the outside. It would take a great toll on me. However I still know that pressure is needed for one to rise, like how heat is needed for a kernel corn to pop into a fluffy and delicious popcorn.
My mother once told me, “Once you compared a person you love to somebody else, you stopped loving that them.” So, I think it would also apply to myself or to other people. It is good to see them and seek inspiration but comparing yourself would do you no good. Loving and accepting yourself that you have your own speed is hard work and a great achievement for one and anything else would follow.

               FORGIVENESS CHRISTMAS
This coming Christmas day, it will be a   great day for me to make a new memory with my family and my friends I know that this  coming Christmas it will be new chapter of my life and I want to give my forgiveness to someone who hurt my heart in the past. My friend told me, it’s not the end of my beautiful life, forgive him and forget pain and you will be  happy. And I think I can forgive him, and be thankful to him for all memory were made.
This coming Christmas I be forgiving for all people who made my life miserable, because my mother told me if I never forgive those who made me cry I can’t be the person I want to be . What I want for this coming Christmas is for it to be the most unforgettable Christmas in my whole life.
Christmas is Jesus birthday and it will be forgiving day for all.

#LightTheWorld
Tumblr media
“Many of our memorable and enduring Christmas traditions include different kinds of lights—lights on trees, lights in and on our homes, candles on our tables. Indeed, light has significant meaning as we commemorate the humble birth of the Lord Jesus Christ” - Elder David Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
When I was young, the idea of Christmases always excites me. Christmas breaks, of course, are always amazing. The jolly songs that play when -ber months arrive, the twinkling lights in the neighborhoods, kids running around streets singing their heads off with Christmas carols. Christmas gifts that are supposed to be from Mr. Santa makes me and my siblings beam with excitement every Christmas morning. Family reunions and family trips are always included in the plans of Christmas vacations. The happy tune it gives my spirit back when I was a child was wonderful. I was told of the Christmas stories and the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ, but as a child and my heart was very far away from it.
However, as I grew older my eyes were opened to things that I was not able to understand back in the time that I view Christmas through the eyes of a child.  As a teen, I begin to expect Christmas gifts, big family dinners and other stuff that would satisfy my definition of Christmas. It is when I should receive.
This year, however, my expectations of Christmas drastically changed and reminded me greatly of what Christmas should actually mean.
This year my family and I decided to be part of the “Light the world” Service Campaign for the Christmas Season of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The campaign encourages individuals and families to show little acts of service and love that would make the world a little brighter for people to feel the true spirit of Christmas in 25 ways over 25 days based on scripture passages. (https://www.mormon.org/)
“Put down the electronics and spend some quality time with family or friends.” This is the first thing on the list, sounds easy right? But I could tell you, it is not.
A few days pass in this campaign starting December 1, my family was really trying to follow the calendar that the campaign has and it made my heart a bit warmer and sweeter.
This made me realize that my perfect Christmas when I was young was really far from its true meaning. It is love, service, and charity. But it’s never too late to learn, right? So this Christmas and in the future Christmas celebrations, I would want to continue to serve and make people realize that Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year. That celebrations and parties and gifts are all part of it but we should always be reminded of its true meaning. It is the celebration of Christ’s birth and His coming to this world and the light that each of us can carry would make such a difference. -Eiriel Rain Dollete

INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES IN OUR LIVES
Do you have an inspiration in your life or inspirational quotes to motivate yourself? If you don't, here are some inspirational quotes for you.
1. "Be who you are, not who the world wants you to be."
— Be yourself and don't be affected by people who talk behind your back.
2. "Take a deep breath. It's just a bad day, not a bad life."
— A bad day is just one day that will pass. It's not the biggest problem in the world. Take a rest and think positive.
3. "FEAR, has two meanings: 'Forget Everything And Run' or 'Face Everything And Rise.'"
— The choice is yours. Forget everything and run and you will lose in the game of life. Otherwise, face everything and rise and be the one who wins.
4. "I DO IT BECAUSE I CAN. I CAN BECAUSE I WANT TO. I WANT TO BECAUSE YOU SAID I COULDN'T."
— You can do everything you want and you can rise with your own feet.
5. "Life is like a camera. Focus on what is important. Capture the good times. Develop from the negatives. And if things don't work out, take another shot."
— Take your time to capture and experience the beautiful things in this world.

Can’t Breathe!
Tumblr media
Once someone asked me if I would have the choice of what kind of death I would have to die off, what would it be?  Of course, any person not wanting anything torturous or anyone without any tendency of being a masochist would choose the fastest and least painful death. So, I told him that anything fast, like a gunshot to the head.   So then he asked me what would be the worst kind of death? Without a flinch, I know what I would say. DROWNING. Aside from eerie and violent images that might occur in your life, (if it’s not a horror movie), it would be drowning. It is not just in water but in anything you can drown in like in sand or other stuff. I can’t help but shiver in the image of me gasping drowning, gasping for breath, water entering your air passages and every time you gasp for air it just fills your throat more and more and more. It is horrifying.  The fear of drowning is debilitating, however, I know how to overcome this kind of fear; staying away from these kinds of situations. And maybe learn how to properly swim. :D

Online Journalism
As I read through articles about online journalism, I saw that there are wide selections of mediums to use in terms of communication and how news is reported. In comparison with the traditional way of communication and news reporting, online journalism revolves around the computer-mediated world. According to the Jim Hall of ACM Digital Library, “ Online journalism is revolutionizing the way news is reported and read. The rise of the Internet has forever changed the way audiences interact with the news—stories are posted the moment they break and readers routinely expect to be able to access both the news sources and local perspectives. Online news and the media juggernauts who own it raise a number of urgent questions about accuracy, press autonomy, freedom of speech, and economic exclusion. “
This semester Online Journalism will be one of my subjects, from its course description, expectations are already given. And the joy of meeting new faces excites me, to be able to adapt, it is a challenge to overcome. The thought of long travels and struggles with the heavy traffic are the things that scare me more than the subject itself because as a cross enrolee I have to commute from Tanay to STI Cainta and usually it would take almost an hour or more from Tanay to the STI Cainta campus.
Four years ago, I took up architecture program and struggled for a year with its ever demanding courses and schedule. Nothing is easy, I know, however, I decided to change my program (for the love of God, did it anger, my father) thinking that if studying is hard and demanding just like any program as what people say, I would rather struggle with the program that I take interest in.Thus, I shifted to ABCommunication, and here I am taking up online journalism course to catch up to my subjects as an irregular student to be part of the graduating class of 2018.
