This was the last prompt from the KeepWillow doodles campaign I was doing on Twitter, so I wanted to end the series with a bang, I guess. I spent a shit ton of time on Kit's Armour, so I originally wanted a version that showed more of her armor than the swords they were holding...but I also wanted them to parallel with Evil! Graylora. So below are the other versions:

QUESTIES. The other day I was walking into my local Safeway that has a Starbucks inside of it. On the outside of the store there was a little chalkboard sign that said come to Starbucks. Normally I wouldn’t think of it but under the title there was this:

I immediately got super excited and decided to check it out, if anything just to see why there were little doodles of willow and thank the person that did it. I went up and explained to the person why I was there, and they said they had a special drink for pride month called the Tanthamore. Here’s what it looked like once I ordered it.

To anyone else it may not seem like a big deal, but to me it really brightened my mood to see physical evidence of Willow in the outside world. So much of recent news around Willow is how it’s basically being erased from existence, and to see a reference to it physically actually filled me with a lot of hope.

I don’t know if it’s got to do with with the fact that I’m extremely tired right now and should probably go to bed rather than tumblr, but Willow series is reminding me so much of a fairytale right now. A bedtime story, like the ones my dad would tell me when I was a little kid, stories from books he didn’t have but was remembering and embellishing as he told me. Knights and danger and laughter and quests and the power of love and friendship saving the day. And even having it taken away, taken down off Disney+ reminds me of those. The way one day you’d look for a picture book you remember loving as a kid and realise it got lost when you last moved house. It hurts, because you loved that book, but you still remember the story. The memory is still special. We might not have the physical copy to hand anymore, like we might have long ago lost that favourite beloved childhood book, but we remember it. We keep telling the story. We love it still. Like any good fairytale

Save Willow on Disney+

if you subscribe to Disney+, now is the time to go onto your account and write a strongly worded message about saving Willow and supporting the WGA strike!

If you haven't heard, Disney+ is removing dozens of shows/films from its platform, leaving no legal way to stream them. Check the whole list here. However, Howard (2022) was taken off the list of removals after backlash, and fans can do the same for Willow.

Instructions: go to the Disney+ home page, the upper-right side with your profile image, and click on Help. You'll be able to scroll until you see "Give Feedback". This pop-up form as shown in the image above should show up. Write what you feel in the box! while we discourage harassment, please feel to write how much Willow/The Mysterious Benedict Society/other removed shows mean to you, how much the queer rep means, etc! Emphasize that you would strongly consider cancelling your subscription if the removal is finalized.

A sample script, feel free to copy/paste and customize:

"I support the WGA strike and hope Disney and the AMPTP will make a fair deal soon that properly addresses concerns such as mini-rooms. I'm additionally concerned that streaming libraries are removing content so quickly and leaving no legal way to watch shows like Willow. Because I cannot support such unfair practices, I would strongly consider cancelling my D+ account and encouraging others I know to cancel their accounts unless these decisions are reversed."

Speaking of Airk, I've been thinking- remember how at the feast some girl starts asking about his sword skills and he hesitates and awkwardly tells her he's "probably second best"?

Now at this point it we're still supposed to think he's just a useless womanizer so it comes off as empty bragging. Except in hindsight I don't think it was. Not entirely at least.

First of all, Airk's thing in this series is that he's given this establishing character moment early on ("I wonder who he's *hunting* today etc etc.) that sets him up as a familiar stock character. He then proceeds to subvert it at every turn. We think he doesn't know/didn't bother to learn Elora's name ? Well he does, he just chooses not to use it. We think he's a useless fop? We'll he just pulled off some pretty darn necessary diplomacy off screen while Kit and Sorsha were too busy screaming at each other. We think he's gonna walk towards the creepy voice promising him power? Nope, no way, he's out of here. Well surely he'll get seduced by the pretty girl? Nope, he didn't do that either, in fact he rejected her because he's with Elora AND figured out she's the Crone! Etc.etc.

Second of all remember how in the movie Madmartigan kept going on about being the *greatest swordsman that ever lived* and everyone (audience included) is like "yeah, Sure"🙄🙄 and then in the second half it turns out he really Is great ? Yeah, that.

(Don't know how much of the final fight was meant to be the Crone controlling him but he Did hold his own well & also showed absolutely no hesitation to grab a sword and go defend the castle in the first ep.)

All of which in turn makes me wonder- if Airk says he's the *second best* who does he consider the *best*? Madmartigan? Kit? Sorsha perhaps? Some random other person? Did he mean to say he's the third (or lower)then remembered his father is dead/lost and he's moved up a spot, and that why he looked so uncomfortable and sad there for a second? Or is the*best* meant to be Kit but he's hesitating because he figured out/suspects Jade is throwing the sparring matches?

(If they handed out degrees in overthinking I'd probably have a doctorate by now lol😂)

I'm mad about losing these guys. And I'm not giving up on them. If you're upset about this too, there are several things you can do:

Request Willow through Disney+ Help menu. Select the big button at the bottom that says "Give Feedback". Then "Request movie or show" and type in "Willow 2022"

Email or snail mail Bob Iger at Disney and tell him how you feel about this. A heartfelt letter will be better received than hate mail which will likely never reach his desk. Send acorns.

The show was made many years after the movie, who knows what could happen down the road if we are still supporting this.

Follow and support the cast and creators of Willow in their next projects. They are wonderful people and did not deserve to have their work buried.

Got to say, when I sat down to watch Willow 2022 I really wasn’t expecting to be shown a beautifully crafted love letter to love in all its various forms, it’s strengths and pitfalls and joys and humours that I’m still thinking about months after the season finished airing. What a wonderful gift

I know we are all devastated. And I just wanted to reach out my hand for anyone who needs it. You can come to me to vent or cry or yell or maybe even just talk about how much we love Willow.

I love this little fandom we have, and Im so thankful for all the wonderful people I've met because of this silly show.

They can take Willow off of streaming, but they cant take it away from us. (For one, we all are gonna have illegal copies by the end of the month. Hehe) But two. Fandom is more than a show. Its a community. We have each other and we can continue to make stories.

Keep writing. Keep drawing. Keep creating. Keep in touch. And remember,

I can't stop thinking about how much playing Kit and Jade meant to Ruby and Erin and now it's being erased from Disney+, taken away from young people yet to find themselves. I can't stop thinking about how much this show meant to Erin and the joy she felt making it. How much it means to all of us. Guess what, Disney? The internet's fucking forever. You can't erase it completely.
