It’s missing solhwi hours again so I’m gonna ramble like nobody’s business about little things I found to love about them again on the rewatch (at this point I have no idea how many times I’ve rewatched the series seriously).

Everyone and their mother (including Kang Sol A’s mother) knew which Kang Sol Joon Hwi meant as he was testifying on the stand. But even if for in-universe reasons Joon Hwi pretended it was Kang Sol B, the framing of certain scenes cements it. 

For example, this scene follows right after Prosecutor Jin asks Joon Hwi who in the study group he wanted to protect. Notice how it sort of fades out around the edges (even with Kang Sol B), but sharpens and focuses on Kang Sol A. I’ve rewatched the scene many times to make sure, and it really does focus on Kang Sol A. I thought it was a clever framing device. A part of me thinks that part of the reason they had two Kang Sols was so they could do scenes like this.

Again, I find it adorable that when we get to see Joon Hwi’s phone, the people he seems to contact most often are Kang Sol A and Professor Yang. Part of me wants to laugh at how many times Kang Sol A ignores his calls (six times!), but Joon Hwi keeps on calling her anyway. 

Even in the future scene, I like the subtle yin and yang where Joon Hwi has a black phone case, while Sol has a white phone case subtly showing that they really complement each other. 

LASTLY. LOOK AT THAT SMILE. Even if we didn’t get explicit confirmation, I will forever love the moot trial for soft and supportive Joon Hwi. Everyone underestimates Sol. Sol B, Ji-ho, Gollum, and even Kang Sol A herself. Everyone except Joon Hwi. 

And yet he doesn’t use his words to reassure her but just shows his utter belief in her and her abilities through his actions. When Ji-ho snarkily comments that Joon-hwi’s team might have trouble winning because of Kang Sol noona, Joon Hwi doesn’t rebuke him, just continues to smile even as Sol shows that she’s researched countless cases already and even watched the finals, making Ji-ho and Gollum’s jaws drop in surprise. But Joon Hwi is unfazed and just ever-smiling, fully expecting she would give her 200%.

When Sol wanted him to revise the draft she wrote, he didn’t touch it and just submitted it as is, even as she worried they’d fail because of her draft, he just smiles indulgently at her 100% sure in the belief in her skills and that it’d be a given for them to move to the finals. Even when Sol worries and second-guesses herself, Joon Hwi has enough confidence for the both of them. 

He’s subtly shuts down any attempt to exclude Kang Sol A, and is just really really supportive of her and amazed by her at the same time. Seriously?? How could I not miss them?

How each quote represents the characters

Jo Ye Beom is a modern and a free thinker. Despite making sexist jokes, he easily accepts his friends’ criticism. We also see that he is inconsistent to his own opinion. That’s why, he easily ratted their plans out to the prosecutor. But when his friends find it out, he changes his loyalty towards them. His quote directs that with time the laws are also modified, just like his character.

how do you think joonhwi assures sol a that she the only one in his eyes whenever she lowkey gets jealous or insecure?

hi anon! thanks for your question and prompt! :D

sol isn’t easily jealous. after all, she took way too long to figure out joon hwi had more than friends feelings to her. she does feel very much insecure at times, however.

she won’t voice her feelings and try to suppress them. but she’s a terrible liar and can’t hide her emotions well. so, joon hwi would be able to spot the moment she’s uncomfortable or her mood dips.

sol would grow quieter, only giving small smiles when needed or avoid eye contact unless absolutely necessary.

joon hwi would confront her privately, gentling coaxing her to tell him what's bothering her. she would wave his concerns away and tell him everything is fine. 

but joon hwi wouldn’t believe her and make her tell him, cause he cares and he doesn’t want his girlfriend to have any misunderstandings.

sol would then confess how she feels bad that joon hwi has to help her in every small thing, and that he chose her out of so many other prettier girls and smarter girls in school. she would point out how in the previous lecture there were girls gossiping about her, and she’s seen the way they look at him when he answers their questions or help them shift a stack of papers. 

after, sol would apologise for blurting out such childish things and telling him to forget about it. 

joon hwi would give her a big warm hug, telling her how he knows that he has secret admirers, but his heart belongs to her and only her. 

to further prove his point, he would make it a point to intertwine her fingers with her the whole day when they get their chance or sit really close to each other in lecture and classes. 

in the cafeteria where they eat, joon hwi would feed her his ramyeon and give her sneaky kisses, till sol’s face is burning from all the attention.

at the end of the day, when sol is at the library and she sees post it notes with mean words on it, joon hwi would pick it up and crush them in his hand.

further proving his point to the world, joon hwi would give sol a long kiss before joon hwi leaves to meet the professors for consultations. 

at night, when sol is about to sleep, she gets a long sappy text from joon hwi that he plans to treat her like that everyday, cause she’s the only girl in his eyes, and he wants her to know.

sol would feel so giddy and loved, all negative thoughts would fade knowing the man she loves only loves her.

you know what keeps me up at night. it's the fact that joonhwi's only real friend in law school is kang sol a.

seo jiho may be his roommate, but because of joonhwi's relationship with seo byungju, jiho has always kept him at a distance and somehow always regarded him with suspicion. now that they're past that, joonhwi is helping jiho with his dad's case, but it's still a case. it's still, in a way, a favor.

we can say that he's friends with yeseul but that doesn't necessarily mean that they treat each other as equals. maybe it's the age gap, maybe it's the perceived difference in intellect, but yeseul looks up to him so that usually stops her from being casual around him.

from kang sol b's personality alone, we know that she barely talks to anyone unless it's a snappy remark. when it comes to joonhwi, her feelings towards him can maybe tame her a bit, but it holds her back from being her true self precisely because she has a crush on him. around joonhwi, she gets shy.

for seungjae, we never actually see the two properly interact - actually makes me wonder how or why joonhwi accepted him into the study group in the first place.

bokgi, we can argue that they're friends, sure, but we don't see enough interactions or hints that would make me believe that they were actual close friends. usually, it's bokgi and yebeom who are the inseparable duo, and we all know yebeom likes to talk his shit. honestly, the way yebeom talked about joonhwi behind his back when he was accused for killing his uncle ticked me off. it didn't help that bokgi just sat there and took it, particularly in ep 3 when they were talking about where joonhwi could have hid evidence and literally no one defended his honor just because he wasn't there.

no one, except kang sol a.

sometimes it makes me wonder if people in hankuk law school only find interest in han joonhwi just because he's a second round judicial exam passer. and sure, at the beginning, kang sol a was a victim of this too. when he was being sued for defamation, i remember her saying, "if you leave the school, what about my studies?" so okay, sure, let's establish at the beginning that she also is interested in him for his utility.

but then she finds a reason to defend him - for defamation, she understood that he did it for the public interest. in fact, right after she successfully defended her answer in front of the class, she looked longingly at joonhwi's empty seat, as if she wished joonhwi could have been there to see it for himself.

and then when yebeom talked behind his back while the police were interrogating him, what did kang sol a say? "stop talking about a guy behind his back. if you're dying to know, ask him."

and that is the basic respect that everyone forgets to give joonhwi just because he stopped being useful to them. but kang sol a, whether unconsciously or not, "pays him back" by being useful to him as well.

after joonhwi was confronted by his aunt, telling him to sign a contract denouncing his name on seo byungju's will, there was a moment where he sits alone, sullen, and kang sol a stares at him from afar. she knows words won't do much for him, so she takes matters into her own hands. she was the one who discovered that joonhwi's aunt manipulated the autopsy, because deep inside, she knew that joonhwi was someone she could trust.

i think that's when the shift in their relationship started. what once was "two people in the same study group" turned into an actual, meaningful friendship, cultivated by a silent promise that one would help the other out even if they didn't ask for it. because they were no longer expecting anything from each other, they could actually talk about things other than school.

and true enough, we see sol a let joonhwi into a part of her life that no one else at school knew about – her family. her home. and then eventually, their shared past. that bond goes beyond study group obligations, which is more than we can say for everyone else joonhwi has interacted with so far.

and most importantly, even though sol a is completely oblivious to the not-so-subtle glances that joonhwi sends her way, it's not like she doesn't have her own way of showing her fondness to him: it's the fact that she can rant to him (and often does so) that makes me think she likes him a lot more than she's aware of.

think back to episode 8: who else would she be so comfortable enough with to admit that she actually thought about stealing exam papers? or in episode 6 where she opens up about having a twin sister? or in the same episode, when he asks her if she's okay and she can honestly answer that she isn't? or in episode 9, where she runs to him about an idea that she stayed up all night thinking about? you can only talk about stuff like that with someone you're close to, someone you share a connection with, someone you trust.

not to mention, they always go to the trials together. it's a small gesture, but the fact that they are in each other's presence, is enough to make me believe that one seeks the other out to invite them in the first place.

and that's why, whether there are romantic undertones or not, i'm happy that han joonhwi has found a friend in kang sol a. not only are they same-aged friends (which is i think a big deal in their culture), but they're lucky enough to be on the same wavelength that they can count on each other when it matters the most, when things are serious, but also have a little (or a lot) of fun when things aren't so serious, when they need to be reminded that they have a life outside of law school.

and when you get to share a part of your life with someone, a part of yourself that you wouldn't necessarily share with just anyone else, well, isn't that just the makings of a soulmate?

Okay, after I took a long sigh to calm myself down, I may give you the answers.

This is the second time I repeat this matter, about the word “rape” - the fact that there’s nothing like “rape everywhere in ZoSanZo doujinshi”. To attack as a top isn’t the same as being a rapist. [Yes I admit there’re doujins that truly gave the rape scene but the amount of them isn’t  many]
