THE ENDING.

Hey everyone, we have some sad news to share. One of our admin’s computers completely went out and, after some discussion with our players, we have decided to close Recreancy RPG. We love everyone here and really enjoyed the amazing characters and plot we were able to create alongside our extremely talented and incredible players. We hope to see you all in the next one, as the world we’ve taken back as a fandom still has plenty of stories left to tell! 

Thank you so much to our players for taking this journey with us. You are amazing.

I adore Emma Dumont as a FC, but I'm not sure she would work for any of our current opens. She could definitely work as a non-bio character, if you have someone in mind!

Who are your current mw?

Good question! Our cop out question is always all of them because we are really happy to see any application. But, if we were going to choose, it would probably be a few of those characters we've just recently lost, as they were fairly integrated into the plot already and easily have ways that can be pulled into future plans. So, I'll have to say:

Remus Lupin

Severus Snape

Hestia Jones

Reminder that all three of these characters have an admin note at the end of their bios asking for potential applicants to speak with admins off anon first. This is just because we want to make sure any player understands previous plots that have occurred that can’t be changed - though any future ideas can be whatever players want and plot with others! 

It would also be great to have Fabian Prewett to round out our brothers and I’d love to see John Dawlish, who would make a good addition to our plethora of Aurors.

Hello, I was wondering if this RP would be open to a Narcissa Black (or Malfoy, depending on what things you want to keep canon) at all?

Hi! Yes, our game canon currently has her married to Lucius and mother to Draco, so she would be a Malfoy. We would theoretically be open to her as a character as we are theoretically open to any canon character, but since we are an Order-only game it's likely going to be difficult to come up with a feasible way to bring her into play—particularly given that due to our existing cast, we are pretty much tapped-out on spy characters. If you have an idea you would like to pitch to us, we're certainly open to hearing it! When doing so, please keep in mind that we've already established her (through references as an NPC and in the backstories of her relatives and known associates active in the game) as matching up with her canon-depiction as a sincere proponent of blood-supremacy/the Death Eaters, so any pitch for a Narcissa-in-the-Order plot would have to account for that as an element of her motivation. If you'd like to talk more, feel free to message us off-anon with your ideas, as we ask of anyone considering a non-bio character!

Yes, we are! It slowed down a bit from the summer months to not due to a lot of us being educators (or some people starting up university again), but we're still quite active! There's likely going to be an event near the end of the month/early October.

DATE: July 5th, 1984

Zinnia Turpin cannot remember anything about her time in the Order of the Phoenix, but she knows that’s what she was doing during those missing years. Having lost so much, she now wants that back. But rejoining an illegal vigilante group when all memory of said group has been erased isn’t easy. Zinnia took a methodical approach: piecing together the scraps of her old life, incidents reported in the Daily Prophet, gossip, and rumor to determine who was (or wasn’t) a likely member...and then setting out to track them down.

Pandora Malfoy wasn’t on that list. But she was at one of the locations that Zinnia had determined was almost certainly in use by the Order...which meant that context clues let her take a risk and hope she was making the right guess. Pandora hadn’t joined the Order until after Zinnia left, but she trusted the sincerity of her overture enough to bring her to Moody and Hestia for a vetting process that was a little more emotionally fraught than normal, but which resulted in their lost member coming home.

Zinnia is once again a member of the Order of the Phoenix, one whom many of the current members knew and fought beside for years...but one who has no memory of those events, or the bonds she forged with her fellows. It’s an awkward homecoming...but as so many other recent events have shown, is there any other kind?

We had a few questions (likely from the same person, as they came one after another) about the importance of uniqueness of non-bios. We’ve decided not to publish them, as the way they are worded feels as though they might be targeting of some of our players/their applications and we would prefer not to make any of our players uncomfortable.

Instead, we will address the questions here, for everyone to see:

When we say unique, we don’t mean that every single character has to have their own plotline and no one else can parallel or mimic that. For example, there will be multiple injuries... we have multiple spies... there were four captives.

Now, we won’t be adding anymore spies at this point unless, under very specific circumstances, they were new to the Order or something along those lines and very specifically plotted out. We also would not accept a non-bio that said their character was captured with the current four, as that would change dynamics greatly.

Our current spies are: Severus (double agent for Order), Theo (double agent for Death Eaters), Evan (unknown to Order), Emma (unknown to Order), and Marlene (unknown to pretty much everyone other than Voldemort/a couple of non-played Death Eaters). There are no other spies, so the character this anon mentioned as taking a spy spot is not the case. 

We are open to more losses - siblings, romantic partners, etc - but the uniqueness there should be different reasons/ways this might happen. For example, Wila lost her sister who was a Death Eater. This is similar but different than Lucinda, who lost her brother who was in the Order. Both situations spurred them coming to the Order, but both have dealt with their grief in very different way. The parallels here are purposeful and those players have plotted out how this might work within their interactions. 

Next, some of our non-bios came prior to our second batch characters. When making second batch characters, we discussed with our players any similarities or intentionally made parallels to connect the characters. 

We want less of “never seen before” in terms of uniqueness and more how will they fit into the Order? and how might they be different? We don’t want someone writing a non-bio that take two of our characters completely and meshes into one - however parallels are great (and welcome!). Last example... we have multiple pureblood/muggleborn romantic relationships that have formed on the dash. Players have been discussing these parallels and how it might work into interactions. We like that -- what we don’t want is for one character to overshadow another.

We hope this answers your question, anon, and any others who may be confused. We are still very open to non-bios and have been in discussion with a few possible applicants about them applying for one - and are excited about it! If you’d like more information on specific similarities, please come talk to us off-anon. We won’t be answering any asks that feels targeted towards specific players.

will there be more characters / bios be coming? the ones that are still left, i can't connect with :(

Nicky answered this question better than I could here, but the short it is that we don’t (at this time) have another full batch planned. I know this is frustrating, especially when you haven’t connected with the current bios. A bigger explanation for why we aren’t currently adding anymore is because the game already has a lot of characters and, one of the biggest things both Nicky and I strive for when we admin games together is giving every character a unique position/place within the world so no one feels overshadowed.

We try our best not to overlaps plots too much (though sometimes it happens and we do love a good parallel). But we try to keep major plotlines separate (an example could be Remus Lupin... if we pulled in three other werewolves, it makes his journey less poignant/less unique on the dash) to allow a real, in-depth exploration.

With so many characters already, it’s honestly hard for us to figure out a full batch of new bios without duplicating plots or making things confusing for character currently in play. It’s why, for the next bit, we’ll be adding bios as those characters come up within plotlines to make everything more cohesive. That being said, we are always open to new ideas and characters! If you have one, message us off-anon and we’ll discuss a possibility for a non-bio application!
