so about the Rocco Liu “issue”, I feel like I have already made a case with my candy post on the same day. I have 3 points to address and people are free to hate him or whatever because that’s on you. however, it’s ridiculous to project those thoughts and make up stories that WYB feels the same way as you do. Or that he should do certain things, because if you have all forgotten, he is a grown ass man that can make his own decisions. he can decide who he interacts with. i understand that most of the negative reactions come from a place of love and care for yibo but we should still try and be rational.
disclaimer, this is all my personal opinion based on my own values and experience. i don’t represent any fandom with this post. for those of you who wanna know what i think about his 227 kadian then scroll to the last part.
Tumblr media
I see a lot of people making a big deal about how RL allegedly has a crush on WYB and therefore that makes him a creep.
My dudes, let me tell you a secret…..
99.9% of people who meet WYB will end up having a crush on him. Will be a little bit in love with him, after spending 2 minutes with him or even having the slightest bit of interaction like an eye contact. That’s just the kind of person he is. He is the main character.
The narrative of certain fans who get threatened of people like RL or CZX because they are in a position of power and seem to have ulterior motives with WYB is ridiculous. WYB is not some starlet who needs to get his foot in the door. RL & GQ need someone like him in that event. He has the upper hand or they are at equal footing. If people really know WYB like they say they do, it would be very clear that he sets boundaries. It’s not like WYB is defenseless.
If RL has a crush on him. Can you blame him? What’s so wrong? That makes him part of the majority. So where is the creepy part coming from?
Some are giving example of incidents that RL was inappropriate with WYB.
First of all, it is very clear that he was not being forced to ride the boat with Rocco. We all know Yibo’s standing. There is no one there who can match up to him. He is also not actively promoting a drama to join a certain set of people. So the next best thing is to be with the “host” of the event. I was actually thinking he might be alone but realized the theme was you will have someone to ride it together with you. It makes perfect sense to me. It’s the most logical choice. Yibo is the guest of honor.
Second, I don’t know where people are getting the idea that he was uncomfortable with that 3 minute ride out of very short clips. Did we even watch the same thing? As soon as he rode the boat, he was chill. He even said hi to Li Xian who called to him first. He had his coffee and was relaxed. All entertainment blogs praised him for his state. Unlike other celebrities who were so awkward or did unnecessary things. The hot search was RL & WYB rode the boat together. That’s all. No one commented on main that the two were awkward with each other. If you monitored the hot search, you would know that. The discussion and critique was more on people mocking how boring it was and that it’s just a simple boat. How it looked “cheap” and asking why is there no host to interact with the celebrities. There was nothing majorly bad about WYB. He was on hot search in a positive light even on the next day.
EXAMPLE ONE: RL was trying so hard to be close and sit next to WYB but he said no. Because his gege will be mad uwu
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But if you look at it, he was asked if he wants to switch seats. Look at RL’s hand, pointing to his side of the boat. WYB declined. He was okay with his position. Does that smile look faked to you? It’s a genuine smile that’s all good with the person they are interacting with.
EXAMPLE TWO : I can’t find the video but it was RL touching WYB’s waist like guiding him and WYB moved away. I can understand why people will find that too touchy feely. I see it was WYB was surprised so he did that. RL is not someone he spends so much time but to say it’s because WYB was so uncomfortable is a stretch. He was talking to him and was v chill even in the old town red carpet.
These examples are mostly from cpfs who are irrationally threatened. Going as far as saying that the original iconic boat ride featuring WYB is the 9 min boat video with XZ. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Here we go again with the unnecessary double standard just to make a point. Trying to make it seem that the experience was horrible to WYB. The notion that WYB can and should only have good memories connected to XZ and vice versa is so unreasonable. There are times that the difference is clear but going as far as to twist things is too much. What if certain accounts picked up on it? I don’t even wanna imagine a hot search that says something like RL harassed WYB all because of what others are posting.
&&& I’m just gonna copy and paste this here:
Tumblr media
During the boat ride, he was clapping for Rocco, like applauding him for the event i guess. In the meantime, on Weibo, the top hot search were people criticizing the “boat” thing on GQ ( literally something like GQ boat embarrassment was the tag ) As soon as the live started it went on 1 or 2. I don’t know if Bobo saw that but I just like how he showed his appreciation to Rocco, and by extension, his team. That’s just my interpretation and it could be a completely different thing but knowing WYB, he is very generous with acknowledging people. Maybe we can take a page from his book in this aspect.
He even shook RL’s hand and smiled. If you think this is somehow WYB being fake. I don’t even know what to say to you.
Tumblr media
I also wanna point out how some are saying these things because of their prejudice against queer people who look like rocco liu. If they look a certain way then it’s most likely they are queer perverts who will take advantage of young men like WYB. While I do agree that incidents like that happen, it’s horrible how people are jumping to conclusion because of a few second clip and his “look”. I’m sorry but queer people come in all shapes and sizes. They do not look like the boys in your manhua/manhwa. It’s like you pick and choose who is the kind of queer that’s ok and palatable. Which is still homophobia by the way. It’s okay if it’s two guys who are handsome like ZZ and WYB, but if someone else comes close who doesn’t look as fine as them then it’s disgusting.
I remember that one incident, a photo of ZZ with a handsome doctor. CPFs were loving it! Already making up head canons that WYB is jealous or ZZ probably tried to make WYB jealous by using that person. How it would be cool to write a fic about that. 💀💀💀 Which makes me think that if WYB rode that boat with Yangyang for example, someone who he finds handsome and have the bare minimum interaction— CPFs will be elated! It would be twisted into something like a “omg zz is jealous blah blah blah”. This is my problem with some CPFs and how limited their understanding is of the real world. How treating the boys as fictional people is so easy and encouraged. I cringe at those who even implied that XZS suddenly posted a vlog cause he wants to assert his ownership of WYB because of what RL did. If you think that statement doesn’t make sense, then we are on the same boat. 🛶
Which leads us to big argument…
The whole narrative of how can WYB work closely with GQ even if they dissed XZ back in 227 era.
The whole article was not made by Rocco. It was a different person. Even the “accounts” they say are RL cannot be verified. Second, this whole we will never forget mentality is so fuckin toxic tbh. Why can’t their be healing from all the hurt back in 227? Do people really think XZ is out there with a fuckin notebook with all the people who took a jab at him that time? One way or another he will work with these people. That’s how the industry is. I don’t remember XZS saying his fans should seek vengeance. What i recall, repeatedly being said is to not join in on unnecessary conversations that will cause negativity amongst people.
Tho I believe that XZ is more wary of certain people, especially with those who stabbed him in the back.
Now some fans are so angry cause RL’s response with the height HS ( which i talked about here ) is to Kadian 227. The answer is simple. It’s 🍤🍤🍤 who were commenting and doing the most to spread this rumor. So this shade was for them and a reminder what may happen if they are not careful and stay on their lane. We are not new to this. XFX are known to do shady things that do not reflect Xiao Zhan. Tho it’s sad how he gets affected by it when he didn’t even do anything.
Tumblr media
This is not special treatment to XFX or that he has some deep seated hatred for XZ. It’s XFX who has the vendetta and capitalized on what some blog and antis were implying. Just the other day, top hot search was Rocco Liu is not embarrassed. This bitch reposted the top post on the GQ boat embarrassment hot search by some blog and said he wasn’t embarrassed. Yep. He is that petty. 😂😂😂😂 He will not take things lying down. If you look at context, it’s pretty obvious.
I also saw Gabrielle, who is GG’s friend and someone who defended him during 227 shared a photo he took of his friends WYB & Rocco. So should we cancel Gabrielle too cause he is friends with Rocco? Where do we draw the line?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In conclusion, it wouldn’t kill you to take a step back and look at things without a cpf lens on. Look at the context. Trust XZ and WYB. It was honestly distasteful how some were focusing more on the drama than how amazing WYB looked that night.
That’s all. Now back to the normal posts. ✌🏼

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love❤
Thanks for asking me, Tee!
This was a lot harder than I thought it would be and it took me a lot longer than I expected it to! These are not in any order after the first one, because I cannot rank them lol.
Tumblr media
Houseboat of Love
I’m weak for exes to lovers and second chance at love fics, so when the prompt came up in the 2022 BJYX Week, I knew I had to try my hand at writing one. And it’s turned out to me my favorite of my fics, or maybe my favorite of my favorites, and based on stats alone I think it’s most people’s favorite of mine. I wanted to start at the new beginning for them, have Xiao Zhan unwilling to see Yibo again because he was afraid of his own remaining feelings and for Yibo to have never stopped loving Xiao Zhan, but he hasn’t been allowed to for some years and how he’s had to get on with living and making space for this love that doesn’t have anywhere to go. I know this makes the fic sound really angsty, but starting at the new beginning I think keeps it in the background, a hum of angst that pushes the story but isn’t the point of the story. And I loved writing tattooed buff Yibo doing the bat crunches and Xiao Zhan being so obviously thirsty for his ex-husband, I let him get goofy with it and it was so much fun to write. The whole fic was a joy to write, honestly. And I’m glad Tash told me to bring back the bit of what happened between them, even though she then (lovingly) yelled at me for what happened between them, because I think it really did make the story more well-rounded. This one was partially inspired by the Sweet Home Alabama movie, where the main character finds out her ex never filed the divorce papers - but I couldn’t bear to have Xiao Zhan be with anyone else in my version so that part of the plot is all I adapted to this story. My sleepwalking/sexsomnia fic was technically my first exes to lovers fic (it came out over a year later) but I feel like this one was my first real “break them up and get them back together because they love each other still” fic. And I’m glad so many have loved it as I have.
Tumblr media
Love the Simulation I’m Dreaming In
I love this one because it is so much fun. It was so much fun to adapt this Golden Girls plot to Yizhan, I made several changes from the Love, Rose plot so it fit a) modern times and b) so Jackson & Yixing weren’t knowingly setting up Xiao Zhan to fall in love with their creation. In the GG episode, Rose finds her fake man in the phone book, and so I decided that a good update for that would be a hookup app. I loved making Xiao Zhan so damn dramatic (swanning around in a Shut Up robe and cooking stir fry for one despite the other two roommates being home, all because they weren’t there for his big announcement) and I made myself laugh with the ostrich feather conversation and so much of it. I’m just glad my humor comes across and other people find it funny too! Also Yibo is hot as fuck in this, if I do say so myself. And that’s always fun 😂
Tumblr media
You Can't Rush the River
This one was my first ever gift exchange fic, and it was for my dear friend Elisa. I had seen the first season of the Witcher and read a couple of chapters of the book, but I’m largely too squeamish with gore to have played/watched the video games. I knew I could write it though, so I did my research and rewatched a couple of episodes and watched my husband play through a bit of the third game. The prompt asked for rivals to lovers, and I love that it turned out as a one-sided Yibo thinks they’re rivals, hated rivals, while Xiao Zhan has been flirting the whole 50 years they’ve known each other. The emotions after what for one was a hate handjob and for the other was the culmination of *decades* of dancing around each other was very satisfying to write. This one is special to me because it was crafted for someone else, but I also learned a lot about what I can accomplish if I want to do it.
Tumblr media
Fireworks in the Stars
I’m extremely partial to this fic. Mostly because it’s a bit of an experiment with a world I’d like to write a full novel in (will that happen? I have no idea but it’s a goal!) So when the set of prompts from a server challenge fit the world I was playing with, I knew it was time to try to write something in it. I’m really happy with how that turned out, and it helped me figure out what worked in that world and what didn’t. I think it’s maybe my most sensuous story, with all the textures and the body paint. But I love the idea of breaking all the rules to find your love again, of meeting your special person in a situation where you're never supposed to see them again and how you can heal from that -- except the other person finds you before you can. Love it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You Belong in my Arms & ad astra:
This feels like cheating, and maybe it is but i suppose you’ve read this far and will be okay with it, haha! So I think everyone knows that I love tentacles, and tentacle stories, so it was finally time to write my own. And guess what, as of this writing, there are still no sexy tentacles, but these boys have found each other and have yet to learn that they are each other’s fantasy. I have outlines for one last chapter, though if it gets long in the writing it may become two. I’ll write it all before publishing; I love this fic a great deal (octopus!Yibo has my entire heart) but publishing it as a wip without it being completed or at least a couple of chapters ahead has hung over me in a way that I don’t like. Each fic teaches you something about yourself I think, and that’s what I learned from this one. For ad astra, it is a Star Trek AU, which like the Witcher, I knew enough to be dangerous but also because I’d written You Can’t Rush The River I knew I could write this one too. And it was a joy, I’m in love with it still and I think I’ve read it the most out of all of my published projects.
So there we have it! Many, many days later you have my top stories I’ve written, though I do love them all and this was a bit like having to choose a favorite child. Do you have a favorite of mine? I’d love to know! Tell me about it here or on the awful site 💖

Different ways to yell BJYX
So everyone in this fandom knows the ship name BJYX, which stands for the pinyin Bo Jun Yi Xiao. It is derived from the Chinese idiom 博君一笑, which means "all I do is make you smile," but the character for "smile" (笑) is replaced with 肖, Xiao Zhan's family name, to create the ship name 博君一肖.
In 2019, Xiao Zhan appeared on Tian Tian Xiang Shang as Yibo's guest and they were asked to come up with a team name. Yibo allegedly proposed "bo jun yi xiao," to the alarm of Xiao Zhan.
Tumblr media
As fans know, Yibo instead came up with the much-less loaded team name, "Yizhan."
Tumblr media
Since BJYX is an overt ship name (I'm going to skip over any discussion of dynamics here), over the years, fans have come up with different creative ways to spell out BJYX without saying "bojunyixiao," like 北京有雪, which is written out in pinyin as Bei Jing You Xue (another acronym for BJYX) and means "Beijing has snow."
In 2021, Huang Ziteng (who played Lan Qiren in Chen Qing Ling) posted at 18:23 (Yibo loves Zhan) while wearing bright yellow pants and using the phrase Beijing You Xue in his caption. So yeah... a giant turtle, that man.
Tumblr media
Another alternate phrase is 并肩于雪山之巅, or bing jian yu xue shan zhi dian, which gives us the acronym BJYXSZD (where the SZD stands for 是真的, shi zhen de, which means "is real"). This phrase means "standing side by side at the top of a snowy mountain."
Yibo himself has seemingly cued this one (he is the king of turtles, after all). In a cooking segment on TTXS, he made a dish that featured little mashed potato men standing side by side on a mountain of noodles (or rice... it's hard to tell... Yibo cooked it, after all 😂).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yibo called this dish 坐在山坡上看夕阳气, or sitting on a mountain slope watching the sunset calmly. Oh my god, this boy. BJYXSZD, indeed!
So anyway, I was consumed with these clever little alternate phrases, and suddenly remembered that time, on May 21, 2020 (521 is kadian for "I love you"), when Yibo posted a video to Weibo of him silently sticking a carton of Ben & Jerry's ice cream into his rainbow-colored Nikes. Like... why?
Yes, rainbow shoes, LGBTQ-friendly ice cream company, but also... SO RANDOM.
But what if this were also a code?
Like, maybe Yibo was showing us 冰激淋于鞋 or 冰激淋与鞋, which would be Bing Jilin Yu Xie, or "ice cream in (or and) shoes." But technically that would spell out BJLYX.
So how about 冰进于鞋, which is Bing Jin Yu Xie? This means "ice in shoes" and spells out BJYX.
Maybe it's too much clowning, but as anyone who reads my tumblr knows, I love puzzles, and boy do the Chinese love their wordplay.
And I love the idea that Yibo was sending a message to turtles at a time when many were worried about them (Xiao Zhan especially... this was in May 2020, remember).
When he posted the video, I remember being so emotional that he started his video with the words, "HAVE SOME FAITH."
Tumblr media
Anyway, I will take any excuse to share this video again and again, so enjoy it for delightful randomness if not the clowning.
Oh, and turn up the sound on the video and enjoy the light snoring noise in the background (the cpn for this video is that it was shot the morning after 520, when Xiao Zhan drove from Beijing to Shanghai to be with Yibo (who was then filming Street Dance of China)... gege was tired! 🥱 [I plowed a lot of candy about that trip into this fic]
BJYXSZD... however you want to say it!
[For those who read fic, I used both "北京有雪 (Beijing You Xue)" and "side by side at the top of a snowy mountain" as fic titles... both are AUs, not "canon" (whatever "canon" means when we are whole clowns who know nothing haha)]

It's Xiao Zhan's turn to hammer
So after Yibo edited his bio to remove CQL from his "representative works" list, I felt soothed the next day when YBO shared photos of him wearing that shirt with the yellow field of flowers, and that limited edition #32/33 jacket in Lan Sect blue, all posted with kadian.
Then the following week, Xiao Zhan showed up at the airport in a pigtail, and my brain went ping! I dashed off this fic, imagining Yibo tying that pigtail while telling Xiao Zhan that it was his turn to show everyone all was well in the Yizhan household.
Tumblr media
It seems that Xiao Zhan took his task very seriously!
After their joint (😂) attendance at the Greater Bay Area Film Concert on June 29, Xiao Zhan's long-awaited xianxia novel adaptation, The Longest Promise, suddenly began airing July 2. And with that, Xiao Zhan's studio began posting to promote it.
As I've said before, sometimes it takes a little time to notice the number patterns that give meaning to timestamps, and so it didn't hit me until today that XZS was hammering with kadian timestamps every day since The Longest Promise began to air.
Here's XZS's first post for TLP, on July 2:
Tumblr media
18:19 is just so loud to me... 18 is of course yi ba in Chinese numbers, and represents Yibo. And 19 is yi jiu, which is a soundalike for 依旧, which means "still." So 18:19 means "still Yibo." Awwww...
XZS posted again that day at 22:10:
Tumblr media
22:10 is 爱爱要你 or "love love want you" or it could be 10:10 pm, which would be 要你要你, or "want you want you." (For those wondering, the number 1, when read aloud in a series of numbers, is often read as "yao" because "yi" is easily misheard.) So the day's timestamps together read as "Yibo still love love want you."
Or 22:10 could be nothing, maybe... but then the next day, July 3, XZS posted at 20:00. 20:00 is also 8:00 pm. Of course, "8" is "Bo" and I thought, "huh, is that for Yibo?" (In the early days of the fandom, Xiao Zhan's solo fans would get upset with him posting at 18:xx or 8:xx as often as he did, so it's not really a stretch!)
Then again, 8 pm is a good time to post if you're airing a prime time drama, so perhaps it's just that. But then... why isn't XZS posting at 8 pm every day? So maybe 8 pm is purposeful after all?
The next day, July 4, XZS posted at 13:00. Yizhan!
Tumblr media
So if I'd been wondering if these timestamps were intentional or just accidental, I stopped wondering at this point. Yizhan is, after all, the ship name that Yibo himself came up with, so they surely recognize this one!
Tumblr media
By the way, let's enjoy the sweet smile on Xiao Zhan's face in the 8th photo of the set posted at Yizhan o'clock:
Tumblr media
But anyway! That wasn't the only post on July 4. XZS also posted a video that featured a birthday cake for Xiao Zhan's character, Shi Ying, because Shi Ying turns 18 in the drama. Huh. 18.
Tumblr media
There's no cake in the drama, so this giant flaming 18 seems totally gratuitous to me, like XZS had an excuse to shout 18 and ran for a touchdown with it.
The timestamp is 19:02 — again with the 19! — which means 依旧你爱, yijiu ni ai, or "i still love you." And who is "you"? The answer seems to be lit up in the photo... yi ba or Yibo. Together with the "Yizhan" timestamp from earlier in the day, it seems clear to me what sentiment is being conveyed!
By the way, if it's feeling like this is a one-sided conversation taking place, both Yibo and YBO posted right before and right after XZS's 19:02 post. Like within minutes, almost like Yibo needed everyone to know exactly who that 18 refers to.
Yibo himself posted at 18:59 (3 minutes before XZS)... and this is maybe a bit of a stretch, but if you're gonna try to post within minutes of your bae, you don't have a lot of options for kadian... this could mean yibo wo jiu or "I'm just Yibo."
Tumblr media
It's kind of a showy dance pose, so I imagined that this was his way of saying, "look at me, my man is posting about how much he loves me!"
And eagle-eyed fans think that's the bone necklace under his shirt, to add to the sweetness.
Tumblr media
Anyway, YBO re-posted that image right after XZS's 19:02 post, at 19:08 (again with the 19), and 19:08 is "still Yibo"... like YBO needed to emphasize that yes, XZS is talking about Yibo.
Tumblr media
And I'm sighing a bit at the caption, which says "midsummer is coming"... we turtles have warm feelings about midsummer when it comes to these two, but so do they! The Dragon Boat Festival, for example, marks the midsummer, and Xiao Zhan has a company literally called "Midsummer Moon" (different characters from the ones used in YBO's post, but the sentiment still resonates with me).
By the way, as of the date of this tumblr, neither Yibo nor YBO have posted on Weibo since TLP started airing, so this rando post/re-post bookending XZS's post within mere minutes is... kinda sus, no?
So have there been more posts by XZS? Yes.
On July 5, XZS posted three times, at 17:10, 18:00(!), and 19:40.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course the 18:00 timestamp jumped out at me, but the 17:xx and 19:xx timestamps also made me look twice because 17 is yi qi or "together" and 19 is "still." Yibo and YBO posted at 17:19 and 19:17 on 6/17 and boy did that seem intentional.
By the way, both have been in Beijing for awhile, so when they post at 17:xx, it makes me smile.
So anyway, putting my clown hat on, the three posts on this day at 17:10, 18:00, and 19:40 read like this to me: 一起要你一博依旧是你, yiqi yao ni yibo yijiu shi ni, or "together, want you Yibo, it's still you."
SIGH
Maybe I see what I want to see, but this long string of kadian since The Longest Promise started airing just seems... not accidental? Like, it feels very meaningful, no?
So now we get to today's posts, July 6... there are two, at 18:30 and 19:00. 18:30 is of course "Yibo Zhan." And then again with the 19, like Xiao Zhan is trying to say, "Yes STILL. I still love this man, we are still together."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, and did Xiao Zhan himself post too? He did, twice. Once on July 2 and again on July 4. Those timestamps? 19:00 (again) and 10:10. "Still want you want you."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
10:10, huh? Maybe that 22:10 on July 2 was intended to be 10:10 after all (reinforcing the idea that these number patterns, while by no means any kind of science, do tend to become more clear with time and repetition).
Anyway, there's still a lot more of The Longest Promise to air, bringing more opportunities for hammering by Xiao Zhan and his studio... and in a few weeks we'll also get the release of One and Only. It's never dull with these two, and I'm here for it. 💚❤️

Yizhan and their photo puzzles (Pt 3)
In my last two posts, I dug a little into some of the curious photo games that YBO/Yibo have been playing lately. Now it's time to take a peek at some of the things Xiao Zhan and his studio have been doing.
I'm going to focus on the posts from the last month or so, since the posts that Xiao Zhan and his studio have done since Yibo's "Like the Sunshine" promotion period started have been particularly interesting to me.
Let's start with XZS's post on 12.22.22, 8 days before Yibo's new single was to drop. The timestamp, 16:23, didn't strike me as particularly notable at the time (yes, 16 is supposed to be Yibo's favorite number and it's also the number of strokes in Xiao Zhan's name, and of course 23 means "love Zhan," but since it was XZS posting, I didn't view this as big candy).
BUT LOOK, there are 13 (YiZhan) photos in this array, and it made me laugh that Xiao Zhan, a stickler for centering things, would tolerate that 13th photo dangling at the bottom of an otherwise symmetrical layout if it didn't serve some other purpose, like broadcasting his ship name.
Tumblr media
Three days later, YBO posted the first of a series of 12 posts about Yibo's new song. YBO clearly planned out these 12 posts in advance, so it's no stretch to presume that XZS also knew when the series would start. So the fact that XZS posted a 13-photo array 3 (Zhan) days before the series began and 8 (Bo) days before the release of Yibo's single seems intentional... or at least weirdly coincidental.
Anyway... 8 (Bo) days later, XZS posted at 16:23 again to release more photos of Xiao Zhan in the snow. Gosh, so many pictures of Xiao Zhan in a snowy forest, on the day that Yibo's single, "Like the Sunshine," drops and we discover that winter is a major theme in the song and the lyrics also reference a secret love hidden among the trees.
BUT ALSO... look at the letter "Y" that appears in the array of photos in this post:
Tumblr media
Posting a Y on the day that Yibo's stupidly romantic love song dropped was sus enough, but then 13 (YiZhan) days later, XZS posted at 16:23 again, and this time the photos in the post formed what looked like the letter "I":
Tumblr media
Two things are notable about this post... one is that the photos come from Xiao Zhan's January 2022 ELLE photoshoot — a whole year ago. And the dark photos that form the "I" are of Xiao Zhan by a fire. This is significant because it's another image from Yibo's song — the chorus includes the line, "we talked and it lit a bonfire".
Tumblr media
The other thing that jumps out is in the text of the post, which notes that this is the "first wave" of old photos... so if XZS posted a "Y" and an "I" at 16:23 timestamps, would there be more posts with more letters, like maybe a "B" and an "O"? Why not? After all, the phrase "first wave" uses the characters 一波 ... and 一波 is pronounced yibo. Yes. Yibo.
Five days later, XZS posted again. Although the timestamp wasn't 16:23 this time, the post included old Gucci photos and said this was the 2nd "wave" (bo) of photos.
Tumblr media
Oh, look at the green of these photos. The text of the post talks about how the photos "evoke the warmth of winter," which is kind of nonsense since winter isn't warm or green, but okay.
Now, there's no discernible letter spelled out with the photos in this post, but if you put this "second wave" array together with the "first wave" array, you get this:
Tumblr media
Of course, 王 is Wang. So Y and Wang? Who could that be?
By the way, 6:17 after the green Gucci post, (留意起, liuyiqi, or "pay attention"), YBO posted 7 black and white photos of Yibo that show his "youthful passion that burns red"... there's... no red in these photos, but if XZS is posting green photos, I guess YBO needs to respond with red somehow?
Oh, and 6 photos from XZS and 7 photos from YBO totals 13 photos. Yizhan again.
Tumblr media
Is there another wave (bo) of photos? Yes. Three (Zhan) days later, XZS posts gorgeous photos of Xiao Zhan from an earlier Ralph Lauren photoshoot at 13:00 (YiZhan) and says this is the last wave. Sure, why not end the series with the kadian for your ship name?
Tumblr media
What also stood out in this post is that the text says this is the final wave, and writes it out as 最后一波, or zuiho yibo... which reads to me like, "finally, Yibo." The wording is truly reminiscent of the final battle of SDC3, which Yibo had named "Zuiho Yizhan," or "Endgame"... but to me it was more like "finally, Yizhan," or "in the end, it's Yizhan." And now XZS is ending the series with a phrase that really feels like he's saying, "in the end, it's Yibo."
And if there were still any doubt who XZS has been gushing about in this series of waves, the very next day (on the eve of Yibo's big movie premiere), XZS drops this bomb at 10:05 (itself a nice way to remind everyone that "yes, kadian is real"):
Tumblr media
So do I need to outline the "Y" here? No? Okay.
Whew. That was a lot! And there was more in the whirlwind of posts that we got in the last month that I don't really have room for here... more kadian, more wordplay, more symbols... they really do seem to delight in these puzzles and I love that for them!
As always, I'm just clowning here, so take it all in the spirit of fun and love that it's offered in!

Yizhan and their photo puzzles (Pt 2)
I was going to do a second post to get into the photo puzzles that Xiao Zhan and his studio have been playing, but then realized I had another good example of photo shenanigans, this one by Yibo.
Here's a post by Yibo on his personal Weibo, showcasing his Chanel rings and watch as part of his role as one of their brand ambassadors.
Tumblr media
https://m.weibo.cn/5492443184/4851245837197053
The post caption mentions "being alone," which was notable since Xiao Zhan and Yibo were both in Beijing for a period of time that ended just before this post. 🥺 In addition, what was interesting to me was the subtle change in the way he wore and displayed the rings and watch in the photos.
It's not clear from the thumbnails above, but if you click into the photos, you'll notice that the rings, worn always on the middle and ring fingers of Yibo's left hand, are plainly visible in all but the 1st and 9th photos. 1 and 9 together read as 依旧, or yijiu, meaning "still." The watch, curiously, switches wrists, and is worn on the left hand in every photo except the 1st and 7th photos. 1 and 7 together read as 一起, or yiqi, meaning "together."
Still together.
The change in how the watch was worn jumped out at me as a watch wearer — I wear my watch on my left wrist only. And in looking at photos of Yibo wearing his watches, so does he. So at some point in his photoshoot, he took off his watch and put it on his right wrist. Why?
Perhaps it's to better display the watch in the photos, but in the 4th photo, you can't see the watch face at all, so that doesn't seem to be the reason.
Tumblr media
Interestingly, in June 2022, Yibo posted another photoset featuring his Chanel rings and another Chanel watch (also from the J12 collection).
Tumblr media
In this photoset, the rings are shown on the middle and ring fingers of his left hand in every photo. And this time, although the watch stays on his left wrist, in the 3rd photo, he turns the watch face to the inside of his wrist. The 3rd photo. 3... Zhan.
One more from YBO:
Tumblr media
A bright and beautiful red background for every photo except for photos #3 and #8... Zhan and Bo.
Coincidence? Maybe, but there seem to be a lot of them!
Photo clownery by Xiao Zhan and XZS to come in a future post... Remember, this is all fake, don't take me seriously. 🤪

Yizhan and their photo puzzles (Pt I)
If you follow me on Twitter, you know I regularly clown about kadian, or the number language that Chinese use to embed messages in timestamps and such... I once doubted that this was a real thing, but consider that May 20 (5/20) is a nationally-celebrated Valentine's Day in China because 520 (wu er ling) sounds vaguely like 我爱你 or wo ai ni, which means "I love you."
There are plenty of examples of kadian coming up in commercial use, like companies posting ads or birthday greetings at 10:05 for Xiao Zhan (for his birthday, 10/5), or 8:05 for Yibo (for his birthday, 8/5). Their respective studios also post at 10:05 and 8:05 for this reason.
This is why the number 18 stands for Yibo (18 is yi ba) and the number 3 represents Xiao Zhan (3 is san, which sounds like Zhan).
I'll do a post or two another time to get more into kadian, but today I want to point out a few examples of Yizhan playing around with the photosets that they post on Weibo, and the messages that seem to be embedded in them.
Am I just clowning? Probably. But weird stuff has come up enough times that I feel like collecting them here!
Like today... YBO posted two photosets of Yibo's new "Twins" dance, which was presented as part of the Henan TV Spring Festival Gala. Two photosets with 18 photos total. 18 means "Yibo." Nice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The timestamp for the first set was 17:30, which can be read as 一起战, or yi qi zhan... "together Zhan." The timestamp for the second set was 19:30, which can be read as 依旧站, or yi jiu zhan... "still Zhan." 🥺
But note that the word "Edited" appears next to the timestamp for the first photoset. When you look at the edit history, you can see that the initial post, at 17:30, included only 8 photos. With just 8 photos, the photo array is asymmetrical and the two Yibos at the bottom look like they're both gesturing to something that isn't there.
Tumblr media
At 18:05, the post was edited to add a 9th photo in the 8th slot (8 is ba, or "Bo"). Nothing else changed.
Tumblr media
But instead of deleting and reposting the photo set, YBO edited it, going through the trouble of making the new photo #8 in the set (which now makes the photoset pleasingly symmetrical)... and so the original 17:30 time stamp was retained.
Here's the photo that was added as the new #8:
Tumblr media
The red background, the black robes with Yibo standing upright, a fist behind his back... it has a very "modern LWJ joins the Yiling Patriarch's clan" vibe, doesn't it? It's a great photo, and it's a little weird that it was left out of the original post, which is why it feels like all this editing was meant to call more attention to it.
But it might just be coincidence, so let's look at the second photoset.
Tumblr media
In this photo set, there's the Cloud Recesses vibe, sure, but what jumped out to me is the third photo... 3... or Zhan.
Tumblr media
In this photo, you can see Yibo's bone necklace in full view around his neck. In this fandom, 🐢 believe that the bone necklace was a gift from Xiao Zhan (as the only person who dares to call Yibo a puppy)
Tumblr media
Whether or not you believe it was gifted to him by Xiao Zhan, it's clear that the bone necklace is precious to Yibo. Chanel would be happy to have him wear their jewelry all the time, but when he's not working (and even when he is), Yibo wears the bone necklace, again and again and again. And here he is, choosing to wear it during a televised performance.
Here's something else that's visible in that third photo:
Tumblr media
This logo looks a lot like "GG" — either evoking "gege" (what CP fans call Xiao Zhan) or the Gucci logo... and hmmm... who is the current global brand ambassador for Gucci?
Maybe it's coincidence, again, but when I looked at the first and second photos of the photoset, the bone necklace is tucked into Yibo's shirt and the G logo is curiously obscured, even though the label itself is plainly visible. The fact that both the bone charm and the GG logo are so clearly visible in the 3rd photo — and only the 3rd photo — feels like A Thing, a call-out to Xiao Zhan, maybe. Perhaps a signal that yes, the bone necklace has everything to do with Xiao Zhan, his gege.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I noticed YBO doing this photo placement thing a couple of times recently. Here, the bone necklace is plainly visible in three photos in this photoset: the 2d photo of the 1st row, the 3rd photo of the 2d row, and the 3rd photo of the 3rd row. 233 is ai ZhanZhan, or love ZhanZhan.
Tumblr media
Or here, when YBO posted this photoset of Yibo rehearsing his Like the Sunshine dance... the first and third photos of the set featured Yibo displaying the rainbow logo of his hoodie... with an embrace in between. 1st and 3rd... 1 and 3... Yizhan.
Tumblr media
I'll have to stop here and do a Part II for the stuff I've noticed in Xiao Zhan's posts... suffice to say that the two of them (and their staff) seem to delight in puns and number games and photo puzzles... I like to think that this is a way that they keep connected over the miles and weeks that they are apart. 🥺
As always, take this in good fun, I'm just clowning here!

YiZhan Fandom Interview with Renren !!
Preface:
In my attempt to sort out all the massive information that is generated almost daily in the BJYX fandom, I came up with an idea to interview prominent 🐢 for pointers, recommendations and advice as kind of a starter compilation kit for newbies.
Also, my intent is to provide some translations of the interviews (if you’re also interested in translating, let me know thru’ my twt acc below) for international fans and contribute my grain of salt to thin the language barriers and get to know more fans or simply, know your fave person in fandom.
With that being said, this is my first interview, so any constructive FB is welcome!
-::-::-::-
Thanks so very much for accepting my first ever interview, Renren 🙏
So, the first question is kind of a mandatory introduction.
Q. Please, tell us a bit about yourself. How you like to be called or how do you go by in this fandom and how long you’ve been in the swamp?
I’m Renren, but most folks call me Ren. I’m a fic writer and a szd shipper (which for new folks means I believe they’re actually in a relationship, this is also called being a tinhat lol).
I watched The Untamed in January 2021, and then watched the official BTS, and saw a shipper in the comments and was like “huh, people ship real people?” I was no stranger to shipping fictional characters (I’ve written Reylo before), but RPS was brand new to me. But the more I watched of the BTS and then the unofficial BTS, I was like, oh yeah, there’s something here. The cave BTS sealed it for me.
So, I’ve been in the pit since January/February 2021. I lurked for a long time, then joined fandom more actively in the fall of 2021, and started writing and released my first Yizhan fic in Jan 2022.
This is your first RPS? Wow, how cool is that? To debut with such a power couple! ☺️
Q. When you were a lurker, which SNS did you mostly use?
Which leads to the next question…
Q. Where are you most active/ favorite place to dabble in fandom-wise?
I lurked on tumblr mostly, and read Twitter without an account. I didn’t make one until August, and I don’t think I used it to post until September/October 2021.
I’m active most on Twitter, with Tumblr set up as my backup to Twitter.(@renren85105)
I’m also on AO3 as TheDevilMrsRen.
Tumblr: https://at.tumblr.com/renren85105/da6o6n6orbm5
By the way, you have very distinct profile pic (wyb with an octopus plushie on his head!). Did you always use it?? Is there a reason why you chose that? 🤭
I think I had a different one when I signed up, but I can’t remember it - I chose it because I like tentacles lol
As in a fic trope/kink? or something else? 😆
Both lol, I’ve always loved octopuses, I think they’re darling, but I also enjoy tentacles as a trope.
We’ll come to that later~~! There’s a question regarding that afterwards.
Q. What was your first drive/motivation to start writing about them? Would you share a link to your first fic?
It was Xiao Zhan’s lightsaber video!!! I had this idea for a Star Wars AU with the two of them, and it took me over body and soul and I finally had to write it. The first story I posted though was the first Golden Girls AU,
then the Star Wars AU came out a month later.
By the way, you guys have to go read Renren’s Golden Girls AU cos I can assure you, you are going to enjoy it SO much, if you haven’t already!!
So on to the next one!
Q. How many fics have you written so far? Which one is the one that you’re most fond of and why?
I’ve written 15 Yizhan fics so far, and drawn 10 mushroom fanarts! I’m not sure I can pick a favorite, but it’s between “Fireworks in the Stars” because it’s an original concept that I’ve been playing with for years and want to eventually write a full original novel with it, and “Houseboat of Love”, because I had so much fun with the exes-to-lovers concept. It was a bit angsty but I also wanted it to be a fun time with Xiao Zhan thirsting hard for his not-actually-ex-husband.
But I love everything I’ve published, if I don’t love it, I don’t release it.
I had totally missed that Renren’s mushroom posts are fanarts! I had to rush to see them and they are all SOSOSO Adorable, with capital A! The puns are sublime. I loved them all to bits and she has confirmed there’s more to come in the future!! Be on the look out, you guys!! 🥹🥹
Q. What’s your favorite trope to write/draw or a new one that want to try this year?
Oh, that’s hard! Because it’s different from my favorite tropes to read.
I really like to write getting together stories, especially if there is only one bed/they’re stuck together in some way.
But this is the year I’ll finally write tentacles, which is actually so much harder than I thought because a) I want to do it justice since I love it so much and b) there is SO MUCH choreography involved with all the extra limbs. You Belong in My Arms is my tentacle WIP, with chapter one out. Chapter one just has a cute octopus and tentacle kink, but no actual use of tentacles in a sexy way.
I will just restrain myself to say that Renren’s octopus is so cute like an underwater jianguo. I am hopelessly hooked to her fic that am anxiously looking forward to new chapters! But I digress…
Q. Are you bjyx, zsww or lsfy? Is this dynamic important to you when writing? (Or reading?)
So I am a bjyx-leaning lsfy. I enjoy reading everything, but I prefer writing bjyx or Yibo top lsfy.
That sounds like it’s the same thing, but the power dynamics are different between them (bjyx Yibo is IN CHARGE while it’s much more neutral in lsfy).
You mean like, Yibo makes the move? Or that he decides how he wants XZ?
Yeah, in BJYX makes most of the decisions, he’s very dominant in the bedroom and outside of it.
I like strong Yibo, indeed 😏
Q. What’s your most fave 🍬? Have you written about it? Where do you get most of your 🍬 sources?
My most favorite candy is the tattoo cpn! I have used it, most literally in an unreleased work, but I love to give both of them tattoos in my works anytime I can.
My candy sources are from Twitter (overthinkingthis, ecah, shirasagis, ventus for older candies) and tumblr (rainbowsky & accio-victuuri), and I avoid folks sharing stalker footage or making wild claims like they know someone in the business or disparage their co-stars, because it’s harmful to the boys & just flat out rude.
I think for us newbies, we need to be careful and prudent on that and not fall for everything we see or outright edited (fake) info, cos it’s becoming harder to distinguish 😵‍ (out of my own experience)
So, the next question is selective, you can choose either or both…
A) Did you read THE fic? The controversial 22/7 one? How did you like it? How would you end it?
AND/OR
B) Do you wanna talk about wyb’s latest NYG’s LtS performance?
A) I didn’t. I didn’t even go looking for it, it has so many emotions and events attached to it, I think it’s best to just let it rest. No judgment for folks who decide to read it, though! Just my opinion.
B) Yes I do!! it was gorgeous and emotional, all about the yearning and longing you feel when you’re away from your partner and the bright warmth you feel when you’re back with them. It felt real, like he was pulling it from the depths of his soul.
It’s raw and vulnerable, and he did such a good job, I’m so proud of him! (And no, I don’t think it’s a breakup song or born from anything other than long distance relationships being hard.)
That performance was so heartfelt indeed 🥲
Q. Who is a content creator (writer, artist, v/blogger… etc) you would rec to a newbie? (Name as many as you wish) And lastly, a piece of advice for newbie 🐢!
Oh gosh, so many people! It’s hard to not just list all of my friends lol.
OldObsess/Overthinkingthis is a fantastic writer and candy librarian, her fics have great footnotes with all the different things she references in her fics.
Elisamiao is another amazing writer and she is so supportive of new writers in the fandom. I call her the fandom’s librarian because she is fantastic at fic recommendations, and can find what you’re looking for so fast!
Jalpari runs great events, and is a prolific writer, her Yizhan Through the Years is the first/second most kudos’d fic in the fandom. She is also very supportive of new authors/artists in the fandom!
BJYXObsessed is hilarious, her fics are so good and her meme threads are laugh out loud funny, I see them all over the place as reaction memes.
Bjyxnoa is a great update account on Twitter, and for deep cpn and candy discussions I like to go to Rainbowsky and Accio-victuuri on tumblr.
A piece of advice I have for new turtles is to not worry too much about proof of their relationship. They don’t have to prove anything to us, and each person has to decide for themselves how to interpret the things they do tell us. Everyone has their own “realness” comfort level, and that’s okay! It’s okay to be 100% szd and it’s okay to not be!
Lastly, their privacy is extremely important. Stalker footage is wrong, even if it “proves” what you want to see.
And don’t break the fourth wall with them, for example, if Yibo makes another Instagram post, don’t flood the comments with shipper comments, their social accounts are for work, and so we should keep our comments to the individual and the work they’re doing.
END
-::-::-::-
I can’t thank Renren enough for accepting my offer and come on board with this wee project of mine, and especially her wise words of advice 🙏🙏🙏
It’s a great reminder to all of us 🐢 that we ought to keep in mind and keep our recklessness in check. If we really love and support them, we must first respect their individual works.
And that’s it for today, folks! Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed it.
You can find me on twt @fleur_1005 for suggestions and/or comments!

A correct amount of words about wang yibo
I keep trying to indoctrinate the good people of Post.news who have the misfortune to follow me into joining the Wang Yibo fandom. And that's hard to do given that this is a whole-ass sea of like white Gen X MSNBC liberals who probably only think about China as politics, but I am doing my LEVEL BEST, and the result is this absolutely enormous post about Yibo that most people reading this on Tumblr don't need to know, but which I am going to put here anyway, because I need to feel Seen.
I wish to talk about Yibo's beautiful New Year's Eve performance, but first some context.
actually no, first, a picture because isn't he lovely
Tumblr media
Over the last four years, this has become a holiday tradition: Eagerly awaiting Wang Yibo's release of a huge song on December 30 — his only single of the year — that he then performs live on an annual New Year's Eve concert the next night. Every year, when he does this, it's a huge deal and the songs always become the bestselling single of the year on the last day of the year, which is the kind of massive flex that compels me to yell about it a lot.
So in 2019 he released "Wugan" (which he wrote) on 12/30, and it became the bestselling single of 2019. At the end of 2020 he released "Rules of My World," which he also wrote. That then became the second-bestselling single of 2020. (More on the single that beat him in a minute.)
The next year, he released his 2021 end-of-year single "Nian" completely for free, probably in response to the Qinglang restrictions I wrote about here, in which, among other things, China banned multiple mass sales.
Yibo is known primarily as an (extremely good) hip-hop dancer, so since "Nian" was more of a power anthem everyone was anticipating something more upbeat for his end-of-year song this year. Instead, Yibo surprised us all with a gorgeous love song, "Like the Sunshine" (像阳光那样)", which immediately became not only the bestselling single of 2022, but the first single to top 2 million sales in China since the CCP banned mass sales 18 months ago.
And then he paired it with this incredible modern dance performance at Dragon TV's new year's eve event.
youtube
Please watch it; he cut his hand and his feet while dancing barefoot on stage but kept performing, and this gives you such a good glimpse of what a heartfelt and mesmerizing performer he is.
What you wouldn't know just from watching this is that Yibo has rarely if ever danced modern dance before onstage, only hip-hop and other dances blending modern dance elements, but never anything like this. And yet he looks completely at home and in his element. The climax and fully the last 60 seconds show so much control and power, combined with his ability to be completely immersed in the flow and feel and emotional dynamics of of a song — which you get both from his movements and his vocal expression. He's just. So good. All the time.
It will be three years at the end of this month since I first discovered Wang Yibo, and I still feel every day like I just discovered him for the first time, because I'm continually blown away, not only by how tremendously talented and gifted he is at whatever he picks up, but by how unapologetically passionate and pure-hearted he is about loving dance and loving acting and music and racing and competition and all his geeky quirky little hobbies, about loving people and loving life.
Everyone who works with Yibo just winds up raving about about how talented he is, whether it's his acting or dedication or dancing or singing or that time he just fucking did this what the fuck, and you can see so clearly from all of this, and especially this new NYE performance, that it's not just that he's incredibly talented and skilled enough to master a totally new skill in weeks, but that he goes full-throttle in every performance, makes himself completely raw and vulnerable. Yibo eschews method acting, is arguably not neurologically suited for method acting, but instead has this wonderful ability to slip in and out of character, become whoever he's asked to become in any given moment. And when he's dancing as himself on stage, he consistently shows us his heart and his pure emotion, whatever it is.
He is just, above all things, a consummate entertainer: He prioritizes the mood and the moment of the art he's creating, and he delivers that consistently, each and every time. Case in point: let's enjoy him performing "Pick Me" for Produce 101 in 2019, when he served as dance mentor to women competing for a spot in a girl group. Every time Yibo gets asked to dance "cute" dances — and probably the reason he keeps getting asked — is that he commits to the cuteness without any posturing or machismo and just, again, lets his performance serve the dance/song without letting his ego get in the way.
youtube
Or! Or! This next song! I love this performance because it's completely inexplicable at a glance but SO fun and just, happy. What's happening here is: He's a special guest on a variety show where the object is (wait for it) to SING SONGS WHILE SPINNING ON A LITTLE SPINNY THING.
And one of the judges of this show is Da Zhangwei, who's both a well-known like, comedy/variety songwriter and Yibo's good friend (they hosted a variety show together for years). So Yibo makes a surprise appearance to perform one of Da Zhangwei's own songs, "Pop Rocks Candy," while spinning around on a little spinny thing!!!! (China!!!!)
And this should be absolutely absurd, like, cringey beyond belief, over-the-top excess, right. But because Yibo is so committed to this performance, without a hint of embarrassment, it somehow just becomes this joyous, endlessly delightful gift of Wang Yibo performing one of his friend's songs and turning it into a celebration of fun and whimsy.
youtube
OR! here he is being dragged into a silly dance battle in 2018 while filming the rom-dram Gank Your Heart. Nothing at all going on, he's just hanging with the other cast and dancing for fun, except Yibo is just so excellent that the camera eventually gives up following the other cast members and just zooms in on him. Everyone always winds up zooming in on Wang Yibo.
youtube
To return to 2020: Yibo was second in song sales that year only because the top spot went to his best friend Xiao Zhan's song "Spotlight," which was/is the biggest selling single of all time, as in, in world history, as in this song outsold both the Beatles and "White Christmas". You will assume I must be exaggerating until you click that link and learn that this is actually a well-verified fact.
The reason you have never heard "Spotlight" is because the combined impact of the CCP's isolationist tendencies and the tendency of other countries to treat China like a sealed vacuum means it's easy to ignore/write off whatever's happening in China, even while entertainers like Yibo and Xiao Zhan are making major inroads and breaking through international culture divides.
But I think that might be changing sooner rather than later, and Yibo is a big part of the reason. In Q3 of 2022 his studio, Yuehua, was preparing to go public (they eventually withdrew) basically fully on the strength of Yibo's popularity: They released an investor report claiming he was responsible for 80% of their overall revenue in 2022. (I saw a later claim that in Q4 that # jumped up to 90% overall but I couldn't find a source. I believe it, though, because YIBOOOOO.)
Yibo has three films coming out in 2022. One of them I've already discussed in this Post post (lol), without mentioning the fact that in the scenario where Born to Fly is China's version of Top Gun, Wang Yibo is Tom Cruise as Maverick. (At age 24, by the way — just a year older than Cruise when he first played the role.)
The other two are equally eye-catching. One is One and Only, a street dance movie created and scripted entirely around and for Yibo, clearly inspired by what an absolute phenomenon he has been as a captain on Street Dance of China. This movie won the Weibo award for most anticipated movie of 2022 (back when we still thought it was coming out in 2022, sob). The director stated on the awards red carpet, "If there's no Yibo, then there's no movie." Brb sobbing into my tea.
The final film drops on 1/22 and it's called Hidden Blade (previously titled Anonymous) and he stars alongside Tony Leung, YES I SAID TONY LEUNG, and it's also one of the most anticipated films of the year. And, listen, I would go a long way just to watch Tony Leung, but the trailer, along with the latest just-released poster, each make it clear that Yibo is every bit the co-star:
youtube
Sooooo this movie will probably land on the international radar — hell, it already has — and if I know Yibo, he won't be easy to overlook.
Because that's the thing, always: Eventually, no matter the context, you always wind up zooming in on Wang Yibo.

Hi rainbow, please tell me the incident where yibo reserved a rehearsal time slot for zhan under his name at a tencent award show?? ❤️💚
Hi Anon! 😊
Tumblr media
This is one of my absolute favorite GGDD CPN of all time.
Fake, fan fiction, CPN.
As everyone knows, 2020 was a really rough year for GG. Not only was he a victim of the 2/27 nightmare, he was the target of serious attacks and harassment all year long. He couldn't go anywhere without security issues, and frequently antis would post about his location and launch mass complaint campaigns against whoever was hosting him.
I can't overstate how scary it was.
GG was laying incredibly low at the time and was rarely seen, and when he was seen it would be a surprise appearance to prevent antis from being able to try to sabotage his schedules.
Tencent Starlight Awards was set to take place on the 20th of December. Everyone was wondering whether GG would attend. There were a lot of rumors, announcements and reports about the stars who would be there, but only vague rumors about GG. Some people were saying he likely wouldn't be there because of 2/27, while others were holding out hope of a surprise appearance from him.
Tumblr media
When the rehearsal schedule was leaked online GG did not appear on it at all, which caused some dismay among those who'd been hoping for a surprise appearance.
However, DD was on there, and listed as taking up significantly more rehearsal time than any other artist. Most people were scheduled for a half hour to an hour, while DD was scheduled for a full two hours; a half hour for sound and vocals, another hour and a half for him to rehearse with the dancers (he had been scheduled to do a dance performance but that was later cancelled).
He came under heavy fire from haters who claimed he was too full of himself and taking up too many resources. No matter how badly he was criticized for it, he kept silent and issued no statement about it.
When video footage from the rehearsal leaked online (clearer video here) it was discovered that DD wasn't the only one taking up those time slots. GG was seen rehearsing right after DD (this was also the first time GG's red microphone was seen).

In other words DD had hidden GG's rehearsal time under his name on the schedule - and taken fire for using up so much time - so that GG's rehearsal (and attendance at the event) could remain secret for as long as possible, which would provide maximum protection from sabotage by antis.
Excuse me a moment, I think I have something in my eye... 🥺
And if you look closely in the video you can see GG onstage (on the right), and across from him stands another figure wearing a black hoodie, dark toque, mask and green cargo pants. There was SO MUCH arguing over who that person was!
Tumblr media
BXG were saying it was DD (reports said that DD watched GG's rehearsal and took photos and video), solos were saying it was a staff member - they even had elaborate posts with detailed explanations of who it was and supposed evidence confirming it (I wish I had some of those posts saved because they'd be interesting to go over now, but I don't save anti BS).
Then today video emerged of DD's rehearsal that day (which we've already established happened moments before GG's) that shows he was dressed uncannily like the person in the GG rehearsal video.

So this CPN only gets sweeter as the years pass! 😅

And we know the rest. GG went onstage and performed to a massive sea of red light banners that fans had smuggled in to show their support. I already talked a bit about how incredible that moment was in my post about the anti video a couple weeks ago:
We had just spent several months watching GG get trashed and attacked and negatively discussed in the media. He had been lying low for months and months. Many of us wondered whether he’d ever recover. As we all know - in C-ent, artists are routinely canceled and blacklisted, often for apparently minor 'infractions’. We had no reason to believe GG would be able to bounce back.
Then Tencent Starlight Awards comes along, and here’s GG on the red carpet and then onstage, singing in front of a huge audience, and there was a sea of red light banners that fans had smuggled in to show their love and support. And GG was clearly deeply moved by it all, to where he got choked up toward the end.
I don’t think I was the only person bawling my eyes out at that moment. I STILL can’t watch that video without getting choked up. It was such an important moment in GG’s career.
And GG was visibly relieved. I can only imagine how elated he must have been after the event, to see that his career was going to survive.
There was a lot of CPN for that night, much of which emerged from a LRLG fake rumor that discussed the events of that night.
DD was nervous to go onstage so GG gave him his ring to carry in his pocket. DD was seen onstage holding something in his pocket that night.
GG and DD laughed about the BXG light banners, and paid particular attention to one that read, "Dumplings, rice noodles, 3+2 biscuits" which was hanging near the teleprompter and directly in their field of vision onstage.
Tumblr media
There was some discussion of DD looking at GG when they were onstage together as part of the final group.
Tumblr media
And it closed off with the cryptic "Let's meet in 2022" that has me 🤡 today as I think about the (VERY UNLIKELY) possibility of them being on the same stage for NYE this year.
Tumblr media
There was also some well-supported CPN from that night about GG and DD seeing the "river of stars" banner that a BXG was holding up. You can read all about that here.
There was some CPN about DD's bodyguard Lele looking after GG when they were preparing for the final group stage.
I'm sure I've forgotten a lot. We were buried under CPN for days, even weeks after that event! 😅
Those who are curious, the full event can be viewed on YouTube.
Anyway, Anon, hope that answers your question!
