Its a defense mechanism. You create monsters and impossible scenarios to soften the blow to your ego. It’s human nature. The danger is relying on it too frequently that it becomes your default response to uncomfortable situations.
Self-preservation is fine as long as you know that ultimately it must lead to self-actualization. And that’s never going to happen if you keep hiding behind imaginary problems.
Learn to toughen up a little. Take a few hits in the face. Shake it off. Go again. Next time it won’t hurt as much, and you might even learn to parry.

Most people prepare to rest. It isn’t the race that excites them but what comes after. Get comfortable in being in constant motion. It’s important to take some time for yourself, but it’s more important to not end there.
Keep the standards that led to the finish line.
Rest.
Recover.
Start again.
The space between finish lines is where life happens. Embrace it.
