Do schools in other parts of the world try to raise additional money for their programs by dragooning children into pyramid schemes selling sub-par and overpriced candy bars or is that just an American thing

Something I do really love about The Tumblr Experience™️ is that you get everything. The whole blog, in order, not by popularity or (usually) tailored to fit an audience.
I followed this person for one thing, but this is a really gorgeous picture of a bird. A gifset of a movie I never would have seen. A poem about brothers or frogs or ribbon or love.
It's odd but it's meditative, almost. I think it's part of why mutuals, especially ones we don't really talk to, are such a specific phenomenon. I've never spoken to you, you stopped talking about the thing I followed you for forever ago, I don't even remember what it was, but I like seeing you there, still reblogging gifsets of 1990s cult classics and parasocially blogging about Bob Dylan.

Sometimes I grieve places that don’t exist anymore. It’s partly because I miss them but more and more it’s because I’m sad that younger people will never get to experience them.
Malls that have been torn down but that once gave teens a place to hang out or work and had CD/record stores, toy stores, book stores, stores full of things like rain lamps and treasure trolls and the best pens I’ve ever used, amusing fountains, and weekend events like comic book sales or antique shows or fun fashion shows for kids.
Certain restaurants with the best gyros or egg rolls or fried mushrooms that none of us will ever taste again.
Areas at a local water park that were once lush with trees and meant for picnics and areas full of waterfalls and slides through rocky formations that felt like a river adventure that were mowed down and replaced by neon tubes and pavement.
That spot by the creek where you could walk right up to it and climb trees but now the trees are gone and it’s fenced in private property.
That empty lot that once held small fairs and festivals but now it’s a gated community.
When you could drive north a few miles on one of the main roads and find yourself in an orange grove and get fresh orange juice but now its solid suburbs through the entire county.
That one store that was like if a Walgreens was way cooler.
Just… so many great places I wish people could still experience…
