Sneak Peek: Hollow Crown Ch 16

Harry lifted his shoulders. “I can’t think this year.”

“I can tell you what they’re certainly all thinking about.”

“I don’t care,” Harry said. Then as his shoulders relaxed, he went on, a bit more loudly. “I don’t care.”

“Did you also hit your head?” There was no other explanation for this outburst. Draco might not have been thinking straight, and he might have sustained a brain injury, but he remembered that much. 

“I haven’t exactly been subtle.”

“And the next step is opening up to the entire school?”

“I don’t know, alright? I don’t know. I haven’t, I haven’t fully formed the thoughts myself. It’s just, fuck, Malfoy. You’re all I think about.”

Harry's different when he comes back from King's Cross.

He never smiles, he's rough and fierce and when news breaks out that Draco Malfoy left England over night it makes him wild. Dangerous.

There's no case, but he assigns himself the task to drag Draco back home. He hunts him, finds every place that Draco hides, but every time he gets close that damn patronus stands in his way.

In a desolate, snowy tundra Harry stands off with the thing and he's manic, overflowing with volatile magic and he tells himself he can do it - he can kill the dragon.

He shifts his weight, gearing to strike but the dragon has already struck - carving him down to the muscle. He falls to his knees and the dragon bursts into stars that fall to the earth around him. They kind of look like tears.

Harry wills his magic to heal him but the bleeding wont stop. It makes him laugh and he thinks to himself Sectumsempra. Thinks about him.

His doesn't think about why a patronus can make him bleed.

(If I could write well I would write a whole novel about this. If could write well I would write a novel about the things I would write novels about).

“He wants to know the prophecy.”

Potter actually snorted. “Of course he does. Your father couldn’t get it, so he sends you after it.”

“I take it that’s what Father was sent to the Ministry for,” Draco said, supplying the missing piece of the earlier topic.

“Only Voldemort or I could retrieve it,” Potter said. “Voldemort showed up later and had to reveal himself anyway. It would have been so much simpler for him to just go get it himself.”

“There were so many rumors about whether the prophecy existed,” Draco said.

“It does. But you’ll have to break the bad news to him.”

Draco rolled his head to the side, meeting Potter’s gaze straight on. “What?”

“It’s nonsense. He won’t gain anything by knowing it.”

“That can’t be true.”

“It is. The prophecy describes what’s essentially me: the one with the power to vanquish the dark lord approaches, born as the seventh month dies, to parents who have thrice defied him. The dark lord will mark him as an equal.” There, Potter paused to tap the scar on his forehead, revealed by the wind sweeping his hair away. “That’s all there is to it. Run along and tell him. It doesn’t matter.”

Getting the prophecy couldn’t have been that simple. Draco didn’t know if he could believe him, but then again, Potter had approached under the guise of honesty.

Was it a guise? Potter had admitted to the visions when he clearly hadn’t wanted to.

“If that’s the prophecy, why would you tell me?” Draco asked. “Why give him what he wants?”

Just playing around with Auror Harry x Healer Draco or Durmstrang Harry x Beauxbatons Draco I'd probably draw them the same tbh.

Also SO In my mind adult Draco embraces being a son of Black right and up until now I was dead set of him having straight silver hair to oppose Harry's black curls but I was like shouldn't a son of black have wavy Hair and EUGH the answer is yes.

(That meant I had to change Harry's hair to straight because ✨romance✨ and that's not my Harry but I can lean to love him, I guess ill switch between the two.)
