fic i'll write eventually (maybe, god knows I have a hundred other half-started fics to get through first) that started as a ramble in friend's DMs this morning—

imagine dtcfdp!Marius giving Grantaire the "if you hurt my brother i'll end you" talk but he's so absolutely un-intimidating that it takes Grantaire ten minutes to figure out what the fuck he's talking about

"Oh my GOD Marius are you threatening me right now?"

"No! I mean—yes! yes I am." and he looks very serious about it. If Grantaire squints he can imagine Enjolras glaring at him the same way. Maybe they are brothers. The only thing is, when Enjolras threatens Grantaire, it actually kind of scares him. When Marius threatens Grantaire, it mostly just makes Marius look like an angry kitten. "If you even think about—"

"Pontmercy, you're my friend too! Do you really think I'd do something like that? Intentionally?"

Marius deflates a little bit. "I mean...no?"

"I don't appreciate the question mark at the end of that sentence, actually."

"I don't know! This is just how I've always imagined Enjolras used to talk to my dates when we were in high school, it felt right to try it out myself."

Grantaire thinks about this for a moment, imagining a terrifying teenage Enjolras. "Oh no. Marius. How many....did you have many second dates in high school?"

Marius puts his face in his hands. "Not many."

fic summary:

The theme turns out to be something along the lines of “School Daze” and Grantaire once again finds himself wondering what the hell he’s going to wear. Actually, he has an idea, but…no. No, he couldn’t. Unless…? Maybe he just needs a little bit of help, first. He pulls up Jehan’s profile on his phone and messages him: I need some fashion advice. R. Jehan messages him back within ten minutes, without even a signature: Oh, you have absolutely come to the right place. or, an alternate version of chapter four of "desperate times call for desperate pleasures," in which Grantaire goes to Threshold in a skirt to meet Ange, the stranger he's beginning to fall in love with, who definitely isn't Enjolras. (this fic can probably be read on its own, though you can read dtcfdp for further context if you wish!)
