I really despise the Marvelification of Stranger Things, because all the interviews nowadays are constantly referencing how fast paced and epic and big the finale will be but the reason people fell in love with the show wasn't special effects or long episodes; it was the plot, it was the characters, it was the mystery. Stranger Things 1 may have been a story about a government conspiracy and a monster, but that's not why we stuck around. The show can throw amazing CGI, Russians, a battle within the American army and an apocalypse at the audience with the biggest budget known to man but if they forget to ground it and keep it central, it'll just get lost amongst a plethora of other "epic" blockbusters. We want Steven King, not Avengers.

i honestly think it’s a little worrying how much misogyny exists within sapphic spaces. you’d think that women who love women would be the least likely to have that sort of prejudice, but it’s very much there. you’ll hear people say that women who like men inherently “center” them or place them above women, and that it’s disgusting for women to have been with men. do they not realize how similar that is to regular slutshaming? or the way some men only see a woman’s value based on her relation or lack thereof to men? i’m begging some of y’all to do some introspection

i hate how there’s such a big lack of grey areas when it comes to literally any debate in today’s media. people are either vehemently for or against something. whenever i see discussions about the inclusion of non-binary people at award shows there’s one side going “awards shouldn’t be gendered and implying that women can’t win is the opposite of feminism” and another saying “gendered awards are necessary for actresses to get recognized and NB people just have to fit into either category or none at all”. why can’t it be acknowledged that women are still discriminated against in the film industry and likely would get less recognition for their acting if awards became gender neutral AND award shows should look into ways to be more inclusive of NB people. neither of those statements contradict each other

#quite frankly i don’t think there’s an ideal solution to the issue just yet #i don’t think gendered awards should be completely removed #but if someone were to invent a way to encourage the inclusion of women then i’m not against it either #and i think it’s important for nb actors to feel comfortable submitting themselves to award categories #and i totally see how that would be difficult with the current categories
