Eden: God I despise Sebastian as a character, but the dynamic of a go-getter fashion designer bringing him to his knees is what makes this ship so interesting for me.

Punished to a few years in the human world, Sebastian finds himself pursuing the depths of human intrigue, trying to understand why their dull lives are the source of wonder for other demons. Under the guise of a museum educator, he plagues Nina’s ears as she wanders around the great halls, as she tries to gather inspiration for her own works and designs. Even at her own shop, she simply just can’t escape Sebastian when he visits as a supposed purveyor of high fashion. 

Fate seems to change for the two when Sebastian’s boredom leads him to take interest in Nina’s defiant attitude. Curious as to why she isn’t so willing to give into his temptations, he can only manage to charm her into a date. Even then, Nina’s own stubbornness won’t bring her to bed with him - instead, Sebastian finds himself enamoured with the thought of a challenge. Under the pretence of ‘getting to know’ her, he decides to spend what he can of his human life attempting to understand her. Mortal beings come and go, but at least Nina seems to find some value to her measly life.

Voracious and unquenchable, Sebastian finds her ambition fascinating. Of course, she can’t let a friend be privy to her upcoming designs, but watching Nina work is enough of a show for him. Still he remains distracting, lover or not, he’ll whisk her away from her desk and off to the bedroom. Just for a little relaxation. Then within an hour or the next, she’s up again! Not even a demon can tear her away from her work with all his effort. 

Nina sees Sebastian as the ultimate challenge. He just happens to be a man with “the traditional taste of her grandfather” and his proportions are ‘awkwardly perfect’, almost vitruvian. Having him as a dress up doll, or rather, a test subject, tests Sebastian’s patience to it’s ends. She may work efficiently, with measurements and tacking done with ease, but what makes it even more tiring is how she’ll ring him in the dead of night or the early hours of the morning. He might not need sleep, but even a demon like him needs a moments rest at times as well.

A relationship with a stock standard man like him would have the tabloids leeching onto Nina if she were found out, hence why she never officially calls him a partner of sorts. Friends with benefits may have been the more accurate term… if only they weren’t together so often. Sebastian fabricates plane tickets to join her on all her fashion ventures, only passing himself off to those who question as a guide or translator. He can’t join her at every show she features in, but he’s sure to take her around the best sights possible. Of course, it’d be an insult for him to offer to pay for any gifts, but at least he can continue to buy her heart with exquisite food. 

Nina is not an idiot. She’d easily figure out that something was more than strange with him. Of course, there’d be absolutely no valid reason as to Sebastian’s seemingly open schedule despite a full week job, or anything to explain his bank account either. She wouldn’t find out through pestering about him but rather… on accident. In their most heated argument thus far, Sebastian’s true nature reveals itself in his rage. Like any rational human, she runs away from him.

Sebastian has prided himself upon hundreds of years acting like a gentleman. To act so unbecoming of himself and let his temper out on him was far too disgraceful! Yet, his own pride forbids him from seeing her. 

He hopes that Nina reads the letters he sends her, his thoughts and feelings muddled within poetry and similes - he could’ve been writing in a different language for all anyone cared. Maybe, he thinks, it’d be better to let her live her own life, but Sebastian doesn’t think he can find anyone else in this lifetime that would be as interesting as Nina. No. He wouldn’t be able to find someone in his own life time that could make him feel such emotions ever again.

The two eventually make up… when Sebastian loses patience. Nina despises men without a spine for themselves. When Sebastian visits her shop again, the exchange only comes out as “took you long enough”. Showing up with lavish gifts doesn’t buy her forgiveness, but his willingness to make amends does. Maybe, having a demon as a partner is too strange to put into words, but it’s definitely… not unwelcomed.

Hcs of ciel and Joanne friendship :3

Joanne’s always been thankful for Ciel’s bravery - someone who could just appear at school and take down a bully like Maurice is the kind of person he’d like to be. Like a moral exemplar to him, Joanne looks to his underclassman with hopes to eventually emulate the values that Ciel does. Ciel on the other hand appreciates the thought, but would rather… Joanne didn’t proclaim him as a hero to others.

Unlike the overwhelming majority of students who seem to flock to Ciel, Joanne is one of the few people that Ciel holds genuine respect for. Despite Joanne’s equally high birth, he’s willing to put in all the effort that he can. Of course, Ciel can’t exactly lecture him on how his fragility will get him trampled over, but he’s willing to support him of all people just a tiny bit more.

There are few people that can speak intelligently about business and Joanne happens to be one of them. Not only does he come from a noble family but they happen to own a bespoke millinery - a hat store. Ciel doesn’t take much time with others to explain the functions of business, but having a receptive conversationalist like Joanne who doesn’t sit there blankly helps him to formulate his own business ideas. Maybe, they both say, they’ll work together in future.

Joanne doesn’t enjoy chess so much but is more of a fan of card games, since they’re better on the go. The two never play alone but with bigger groups, and it’s become pretty much everyone’s goal to beat Ciel - a literal games master. Ciel’s never gone easy on anyone but Joanne is one of the few people at school that he recognises as having the capability of beating him. It just hasn’t happened yet.

The two don’t exactly ‘study’ together, but read in each others’ presence. Joanne’s quite a deep philosopher when he gets hypnotised by a book. Very few times will Ciel visit the Harcourt estate, only for the two of them to hide in the study the whole time, practically sermonising to each other the matters of life and death. Only then does Joanne allow himself to be heated in an argument with someone.

If he could, Ciel would’ve at least kept contact with Joanne. Out of all others, Joanne was the only one who could manage a civilised conversation with him. Of course, there is the excuse of working with Joanne’s family business as an excuse to see his friend, but doing that would’ve only been childish satisfaction. Luckily, he has Soma and Elizabeth dragging Joanne all the way to the Phantomhive Manor to get him to take a break every so often.
