Aaliyah is courting!
The lucky guy is Colby Newberry. He’s my sister-in-law Sandrine’s nephew and they met at a revival held at my brother Kelechi’s church. The Newberry’s are a bit more old fashioned than us so there will be only side hugs for Aaliyah and Colby until the wedding, God willing their relationship makes it to that step.

The twins are 13!
With every birthday of theirs I thank God more and more. There was a time we weren’t sure if they were even going to live and now they’re happy and healthy teens!
Rahim loves being outside and looking at the plants that grow in our neighborhood as well as taking pictures of stray animals. I was the same way as a child! Layla loves getting her hands on any activity that she can find and she automatically excels at everything!
Layla wanted to dye her hair for her birthday. I wasn’t okay with it at first but I’m fine with it now. She can always cut it when it grows or dye it back.

Baby boy is here!
Anwar and I eventually landed on the name Khalil. We’re enjoying this final round of newborn cuddles. I know this is a controversial thing in our circles, but Anwar got a vasectomy. We are overjoyed and feel complete as a family of 9. Khalil has definitely been the final piece of my heart.
Khalil is the cutest little chunky baby. He loves play time and nap time equally. With him being the youngest he gets an abundance of cuddles from not just Anwar and I but from his siblings as well.

I’m officially in the 2nd trimester and Baby #7 is a boy! Anwar and I are still arguing over what to name him. Hopefully we decide soon!
In other news, Imani’s got a boyfriend!
His name is Raphaël Desjardins and he is an international student from Champs Les Sims. He’s also studying Classical violin so I’m sure he and Imani have a ton of things to talk about. As for our kids dating, Anwar and I really don’t have too many rules on it. As long as our kids keep their purity and their partner worships the Lord, that’s all we can ask for.

Imani: I don’t understand. Why would you want to move to Simerica when you’re from such a lovely place?
Raphaël: There are many things that seem beautiful about it. But unfortunately my home country has fallen into secular ways. Gone are the days of artists making beautiful paintings or music reverent to God. C’est tragique! Here in Simerica, people are free to be Christian.

I know a lot of people think that once you have more than 2 kids, the arrival of a new one shouldn’t surprise you. That’s definitely not the case.
I’m pregnant with #7! Anwar’s gotten to a point where he’s just happy if I’m happy. This child is loved and I’m happy to receive this blessing. However, despite the fact that I was taught to never say this, I do hope this is my last baby. I can’t wait for this little one to get here!

There’s been two birthdays today!
Imani is 18 and looking forward to accomplishing amazing things at Britechester. She leaves next month!
Jamilah is 6! She still gets overwhelmed easily and now it manifests in a short temper. I bought her a prayer journal and she immediately went to scribble something in it and tossed under her bed. Jamilah’s ferocity also manifests in her love for the Lord, so at least she has a good outlet.

Look what came in the mail today!
Our Imani is officially graduating from Starlight Boulevard Christian School! She took her senior heads last month and they just came in!
Imani is heading to Britechester after she graduates high school. She will be majoring in Fine Art with an emphasis in Classical Violin Performance. She at first wanted to attend a Christian university but found that very few of them had Fine Art programs, and none were at the quality level she wanted. I’m so proud of her regardless!

Maisie: Yes, children are indeed a blessing. However each pregnancy brings me more and more pain. Look! I can barely feel my feet and legs. Oh, they have swollen so.

Maisie: If you do not allow me to go on birth control, I will withhold myself from marital duties.

Double birthday!
Aaliyah’s joined the teen club and Anwar is officially old! Don’t tell him I said that!
Our Aaliyah is still sweet as ever, but I’ve noticed she’s starting to put too much stock into worldly possessions and material things. I must remind her that greed is a deadly sin!
As for my husband, he says he’s just happy to celebrate one more year with “the greatest family he could have asked for”. He knows how to make me melt!
In other news, I finally lost the baby weight! I’m actually even smaller than I was before I married Anwar. Anwar insisted I didn’t need to lose weight but I did it for myself. I feel much better.
