I want grew-up-in-orphanage-together Maki and Kokichi sooooo badly. They can still have their tension and fights but I need the underlying "we're practically siblings and I trust you with my life and know you could never be a bad person no matter that's going on" and the protectiveness in it. The "I'd let other people throw verbal insults at you cause you probably deserved it" but also the "if someone touches you, they're dead". I need the "I was there when she left to become an assassin, but now... to see how far she's come..." and the "I wasn't there when he created DICE, so to see how far he's come..." I want the "she's claiming to be the Ultimate Child Caregiver? I call bullshit but it does—in a nostalgic way—fit. Either way I will ofc lie and back her up on this" and the "Are some of the other kids we grew up with in DICE? How have they been?"
Kiyotaka is so interesting to me because, at a surface level, he is the sort of poster child for the very concept of good morals. But he's honestly somewhat hypocritical of this idea as well?
When it comes to more iconsequential things- much of which he highly considers to be incredibly consequential, such as study habits and schoolwork, he sticks to his guns regardless of who its directed towards, because to him, it is of the UPMOST Important things in life.
But on the inverse, if somebody he cares about does something AWFUL. I'm talking "I have to serve at least SOME jail time at LEAST", bad, then he quickly becomes the kinda guy who'd gladly bury the hatchet.
Kiyotaka is nothing if not loyal, and in his life, he's had very few chances to be so.
