if my school approves it (which i don’t know why they wouldn’t), i have been connected with a practicum opportunity/preceptor at a very prestigious psychiatric hospital in a notoriously violent/drug-impacted area. i can’t believe i’m so close, and i can’t believe i got such an incredible opportunity. It’s all about to get very, very real and i’m already trying to mentally gear up for what i’m going to be going through. I’m anticipating going through a rough transition of panic/fear/feeling inadequate/being irritable all the time -- and maybe having to adapt to not getting disenchanted completely by humanity or by our healthcare industry-- and trying to do what i need to do to minimize all of that. While I am scared, i’m more excited. I’m so proud to have made it this far. it doesn’t feel real. I can’t wait to get started. I feel pretty much as ready as I think I’ll ever be.
