well … . erm . i guess thats right , but how exactly should i disguise myself , beartrap ? im still pretty recognizable even in regular clothes , ya'nno ? or d'you think that could be enough t'fool her ?

“ well, no. i don’t think casual wear would fool her. you’ve got a point. very recognizable. not that that’s a bad thing under normal circumstances! “   molly waves her hands out, trying to smooth over any rough bumps made by that proclamation. thoughts bubble up in her head, a finger hooking under her lip as she admires giovanni’s current attire. should be the bonsai captain uniform, if she remembers right. 

“ uh.  .  .   well, i’ve got an idea, though i don’t know how my dad might like it. then again, uh. he’s not the one paying the bills. “   molly reaches into her pocket, producing her phone  &&.  pulls out the calculator app. she punches in a few numbers, totals up what’s to be expected.  .  .  then sighs in relief.   “ yeah, i think i could manage this.  .  . “

“ here’s the plan :   you’re old enough to move out, right? see if you’re mom’s okay with you working for my family’s store. it’ll be a cover-up for your new identity. we’ll have to come up with a new name, a bad guy name of course,  &&.  we can pass you off as some extended-family relative. you can stay with me, i’ve got a bunk bed from when lorelai was younger  &&.  shared a room with me. we.  .  .  never had enough to buy me a better bed, eheh. don’t worry about rent, or groceries. or bills. just checked how much an extra person might influence them,  &&.  honestly? it’s not that much of a difference. “

yeah , i have been pretty busy ! though i havent been so much on the run from that officer lady so much as i have been totally different people ! which is a li'l odd , now that i think of it , but like i said ! too busy trynna keep that shooter of hers outta my face to worry about it too much !

as for you ! you should probably try to take it easy , yeah ? all-nighters or not , dont work yourself too hard ! those are a lotta hours to work all at once , y'know !

ah, taking it easy wasn’t exactly…  well, easy. molly visibly deflates at giovanni’s suggestion, as though her backpack suddenly filled itself with rocks  &&.  nothing else. shoulders slack, an exasperated sigh breaching her lips as voice takes on a more offended tone. not due to bossman, but from her own family’s problems. 

“ yeah.  .  .  yeah! i know. believe me, i know.  .  .   sometimes i wish my dad understood what he’s doing is, y’know. wrong? but i guess we can’t always get what we want. or need. “   that said, she quickly resurrects at the thought back to the bonsai’s last words before advising her. wait, he’s on the run from someone with a gun? isn’t that. y’know. dangerous?

“ uh –   permission to speak, boss? “   it’s a polite little inquiry as to whether she can encroach on his spoken topic. once granted, molly pursues. hotly.   “ i know you’re supposed to be a bad guy  &&.  all,  &&. still technically wanted by the police.  .  .   but should you really be this openly branded if someone’s trying to hunt you down. with a gun? like. i dunno, wouldn’t you wanna change outfits? conceal your identity? “

a laugh escapes, soft  &&.  fluttering, much like how often giovanni’s cape blew in the wind. molly cherishes moments like these, where the weight of dreaded societal contracts or adulthood’s responsibilities didn’t press down so hard on her. just brief glimpses into childhood, where she could be the beartrap the potage made her out to be. marshmallows bounce in her hair as she giggles endlessly, crooked finger ushered over her smile to hide its brilliance behind a bit of polite etiquette.

it’s rude to laugh in people’s faces.

“ yeah! .  .  .   yeah. it’s okay though! i’m sure you’ve been, uh. y’know! busy. on the run. avoiding police women with real ass god damn swords! “   egads, she swore! .  .  .  AGAIN!   “ it’s not a big deal, especially considering how the school year picked up a little since the museum trip .   .   .   &&.  how business drummed up to about forty to sixty hours a week at the store. which. i’ve split thirty-seventy with my dad. which means i’ve had to pull a few all nighters. as usual. “
