OMFGcatapillar vs. a first grade reading group.

A group six-year-olds finished their assignment early so I started drawing things for them on the whiteboard. I think you can guess what I eventually drew. Here are some of the things they said about it.

Me: *draws a pair of glasses and begins to fill in the face around them*

Kid 1: Who is that?

Kid 2: It's happy laughing man!

Me: *adding whiskers*

Kid 3: NO ITS THE SUN.

Kid 1: The sun has glasses?

Kid 2: Happy laughing sun man!

Me: *adding hair, antennae*

Kid 1: Its not the sun

Me: Good job, you guessed it! *finishes with the dots* He's a caterpillar!

This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.

I worked on the painting a while longer after taking these photos, so check out the finished version if you’re interested.

I used acrylic paint with some additives for a longer drying time.  A combination of Golden open acrylic paints, and open acrylic medium mainly.  Great stuff to work with.
