the northern girl loved to hear about other's who visited homes ... it gave her a chance to imagine what it was like if she was there. plus the kyoshi warriors sounded amazing to her, she was intrigued by them && their customs. warm ... oh how she would love to feel a taste of warmness for once, being so used to the cold. the mention of war however, made the smile fall from her lips. urging to say something about it but figuring that the warrior wouldn't want to talk about it, which she understood. war was never an easy discussion.
the smile rised back to her face. ❝ that sounds amazing. ❞ the princess says geniunely. the want to be more than just a princess was showing. not that yue could contain it very well, all she knew was princessly duties. never given a choice to be something else like a warrior. " i would love to visit someday ! ❞ the smile falters once again. the thought of knowing if that would ever be possible or happen. ❝ if my father would ever allow it ... of course. i would love to feel some warmth for a change instead of this cold. ❞
the compliment came as a surprise, but it was not an unwelcome one. thinking about home became easier, the more time passed since she left. kyoshi island had been the only thing she knew for a very long time, and leaving it behind was like leaving behind a massive part of herself. but it was thanks to friends like the ones she had made in her journey that made it easier to stomach.
and being given a chance to talk about home? well, that was certainly welcome, too.
"it's so different from the northern water tribe." suki began, smiling warmly at yue. "it's warm, and quiet, and peaceful. or, it was before the war finally reached our shores."
suki shook that thought aside. yue understood well enough what war meant for all of them. the good side of kyoshi was the one worth sharing. "the elders kept us all safe, and guided us in a way that was meant to honour kyoshi. we fight like her, govern ourselves the way she commanded, and even dress like her." suki gestured to her getup. "it's so beautiful... i miss it a lot. maybe you can come visit some day!"

while she's been well acquainted with the coldness, being born in it. it's not so simple for the vistors who seek refuge here, most dealing with warmer weather conditions && as the princess she has often offered clothes that will keep warm or a many of blankets. listening to his words, an apologetic smile reaches her lips. ❝ yes it can take some time getting used to ... ❞ a pause. ❝ i'm sorry. i could get you another blanket ? if that'll help. ❞ regardless of the weather, he is safe here. there is nowhere more safer then here. still, there is a curiosity in her that wants to know more about ... him.

there's a smile on her face, thinking about feeling some form of heat other than a fire && since they're here it might be a good time for conversation, instead of being in silence. ❝ i have never traveled the world before ... i have always wanted to experience a hot summer, i don't know just ... something besides coldness. did you ever travel before you sought refuge here ? ❞
he wore clothing belonging to the people of the northern water tribe. the scar of his face hidden delicately beneath a scarf and the hood of his fur coat keeping it snug in place. zuko had learned that the avatar would be heading here and decided to get ahead of the game and lie in wait. which is why he was posing as a visitor; pretending to be a non-bender simply looking for a place of refuge.
it's been days and still no sign of the avatar. but plenty of time for zuko to finally get to know some of the people here. he almost even seems more relaxed than on edge. ❝ i don't think i'll ever get used to this cold, ❞ he murmurs, keeping his only exposed eye on a barely thriving fire before them to cook recently caught fish. he misses the warmth. ❝ i was told i'd be safe here, ❞ he lies so calmly, ❝ but now i wonder if i might freeze instead. ❞
