i think i'm enjoying this a little too much at this point, haha! buuuut, i'm hoping to give my brain some added extra inspiration for finishing this fic and maybe thinking of something new! >:Dc

for those who haven't indulged me on this yet, i'm in the process of writing little snippets for a st fantasy au i've worked on for the past good few months or so! i usually just write a fic inspired by a song of choice, so by answering this poll, you're doing me a huge writing favor, haha!

for the case of ascensionism and dywtylm, i'm already working on those! :D i've talked about the ascensionism wip a bit already so i'll spare you, but it's a ii/iii-centric fic/inevitable character study! whereas the dywtylm will be a iv character study that i think might feature either iii or v! though i'm leaning more towards iii cause i'm having a bit too much fun writing him already :) trying to give ii a bit of a break, haha!

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

haha! enough of the silly internet memes, i have another question here for the wonderful audience of tumblr! :D i'm working on another installment of the fantasy! sleep token au and... big suprise, it's gotten away from me a bit, haha! :'D it's almost 10k words now, and i still have quite a bit of content to get through before it's officially ready for ao3 ;;w;; so!! my question is!

i've been thinking about this question for awhile now! :0 especially considering my fics usually range from 8k words to almost 20k! :'D i've been a bit on the fence about it, especially as someone who is... for some reason?? especially wary towards multi-chapter fics :')

if it helps! the fics would be finished before i organize and publish them! :D so there wouldn't need to be a 'waiting for a chapter' sort of situation! :) i'm too afraid of dropping a story that people have grown attached to to be able to manage something like that, haha! :'D

Side Note To Fan Fic Authors

Here’s the thing.

I read a lot of scripts.  A lot.  From professionals to aspiring writers to complete newbies.  Features and pilots.  Specs and treatments.

And 8 times out of 10 the fan fic that I’ve read over the last, oh, 15 years is leagues better than this stuff.  It’s more inspired.  It’s more compelling.  It’s genre bending and creative and heartfelt.  It’s well-paced and intense and funny and sexy and meaningful.  It’s smart and thoughtful and good.  It’s novel-quality.  Better than, sometimes.

Rare is the script I don’t want to put down, but how often have we stayed up until 3am to get to the last chapter of a 100k fic? And it’s not even a fan fic author’s day job.  This is what they do on the side.  In their spare time.  For free.

So my point is, fan fic authors, you’re good.  You’re good writers and great storytellers.  I know it doesn’t always feel like it, especially if you’re one of the authors who’s not a BNF and doesn’t get the notes/hits that a few do.  And  because some people still view fic as “not real writing.” You guys know the shit that gets made into movies.  You’re better than that.  So be better than that.  If writing is what you think want to do, then just know you’re already doing it.   You’ve already started.

And you’re more talented than you might think.

Now, 2 of those reblogs are me, responding to the people who did reblog it. So that brings the true reblog tally down to 4.

In other words:

4 reblogs and 40 likes

There are 10 times as many people who like my fic, than who reblog it!!!

If you just click like, no one else sees it.

If you reblog it, anyone can see it.

I write fics to share the things I like and find friends. If you don’t reblog, I can’t share my work, and I don’t find new friends. That’s how most of you found my work. Others, whom you may or may not have previously known, reblogged my work. And then it popped up on your dash. Simple as that.

The fix is simple: if you like a fic. It’s ok to like it, IF AND ONLY IF YOU ALSO REBLOG IT FOR YOUR FRIENDS!!! It doesn’t matter if you don’t have followers, you don’t need followers to increase visibility of someone’s hard work!

I put a lot of effort into these! ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU REBLOG IT SO I CAN FIND MORE PEOPLE WITH COMMON INTERESTS!!! You don’t even have to add a comment or tags, just click the reblog button!!! PLEASE!!!! Just help a writer out for crying out loud!!! IT’S NOT EVEN HARD!!!!
