do you ever think about how wendla and moritz were chosen to be deaf to symbolize how hearing people (Melchior) can easily manipulate deaf people? or how society doesn’t treat them the same because of their lack of hearing? that Ernst is also deaf but Hanschen treats him the same as a hearing person (asking about the sound of the bells) to show there is not isolation and that he loves him no matter what??? or if it’s the characters who need more support, the voices, to show the depth of emotions inside of them? I have so many questions and no answers
Joe Keery is an amazing actor and it was so exciting seeing him play someone so different than Steve Harrington.
Though I will be critical for a second and say I don’t agree with the movies branding of “digital age American Psycho” AP and Spree were soooooo different in many ways, I knew from the beginning it was going to be kind of weird for them to categorize them in the same bunch.
But other than that, the way the entire movie you actually felt like you were there with him during his “spree.” And Kurt Kunkle himself was an incredibly well-written character and Joe did FANTASTIC portraying him it felt like he was a real person. Kurt was a very socially awkward, not all there in the head guy and I feel like those are very hard characters to play and Joe pulled it off perfect!!
Okay I’m done ranting, buy, rent, do whatever, but support this amazing movie!!!!
If I was pushing the swing in I Believe in the OB Spring Awakening, I would push very hard. Wendla and Melchior would go flying. It would be hilarious. “I Believe-” *PUSH* *Wendla and Melchior- SCHWOOM*
