How Roger Federer Inspired Me to Play Tennis
By Akshaj Saxena
I love to watch and play tennis. Do you know how I fell in love with this game? I simply fell in love with this game after watching Roger Federer glide skillfully all over the court! Roger Federer inspired me to play tennis because he is champion grand slam player, he is a good sportsman, and he has perseverance.
My first reason Roger Federer inspired me to play tennis is that he is a champion grand slam player. This is so because he has won 20 grand slam titles! He turned pro in 1998. For the first four years of his professional career, he was regarded as a mediocre player. He was not outstanding or exceptionally graceful in the initial stages of his pro career. His breakthrough performance came in the year 2003. Since then, he dominated the men’s category with his stellar performances. In 2015, he earned his 1000th victory, an impressive milestone. This shows that Roger Federer is a Champion grand slam player.
My second reason Roger Federer Inspired me to play tennis is that he is a good sportsman. An example of this is, when he wins, he doesn’t jeer at his opponent. And when he loses, he accepts his defeat gracefully and tries to improve his game . On the court, he is not too aggressive or vocal. He lets his racket do the talking! He is a very elegant and graceful player .This shows Roger Federer is a good sportsman.
My final reason Roger Federer inspired me to play tennis is his perseverance. 2016 saw him struggle with injuries. He underwent surgery and came back stronger! He marked his return with a record eighth Wimbledon title. In 2018, he created history by winning his 20th Grand Slam title! Even though he has played for 20  long years, and in those years being 39 he is motivated  himself to keep playing! This shows he has perseverance.
Roger Federer inspired me to play tennis because he is a champion grand slam player, a good sportsman, and he has perseverance. Federer’s career and life teaches us many valuable lessons. Importance of hard work, patience, perseverance and humility – these are some of his qualities I admire.
